I have unchecked the box but they still display as a single axis, so everytime i heal toe it releses the brake. any ideas?

use logitech software to separate pedals.
1) instal this http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/downloads/software/US/EN,CRID=1788,contentid=12192
2)Create new profiles for games you play
3) Then EDIT-> Specific game settings ->Use special steering wheel settings-> un-check "Report combined pedals"
4)Launch game via logitech software
worked for me.
