I myself am not a drifter nor will I try it,but to those who do it....I salute you, great job

..and how was that related to this vid? :D ..I'm sure he doesn't need you to be impressed. 👎

How is that related to this vid?!?!

When you take something out of context then it wont make since, and thats what you did.

If he can do what he did in the video and race fast, that is impressive. Sorry I have to spell everything out for you, next time I will hold your hand while you read my comment.

I always find it strange how the inside rear wheel of the F1 car always spins up and smokes when cornering, something they need to fix for GT5.

First off, others called me names.

Second, I called one guy a twad, after he called me a name. I dont even know who.

Third, Retarded is a verb, not an adjective.

Fourth, my feelings have not changed. The video didnt impress me.

Lastly, you shouldn't quote people just to make stupid comments.

Are you twelve? Get your facts straight.

From dictionary.com:

-adjective
1. characterized by retardation: a retarded child.
–noun
2. (used with a plural verb) mentally retarded persons collectively (usually prec. by the): new schools for the retarded.

The VERB (which is a DOING WORD kids) you were looking for is "Retard", meaning to impede, or to hinder.

No need to be so negative about the guy's driving either, its very impressive car control, no matter what your opinion might be.

Drifting is for people who can't race properly.
There is NO place for drifting in serious racing sims like GT.

 and race properly is for people who can't drift... and im not a drifter ;) :dopey:

seriously...

respect all driving styles... its hard to race properly.. yes. but its also to drift and drifting is beautiful to see and really enjoyable to do.. i've made a few drifts a loved it :D

When I think "Drifter" I must admit, my first thought is of a smelly man wandering about the place with all his belongings in a tied up rag on a stick.

That video is incredible, the precision and skill taken to do that sort of thing is beyond anything I've seen yet. Major respect to Conan!

I think people would appreciate drifting a lot more if they realised where it came from (not necessarily Japan). Some of you guys should watch Faszination, where Stefan Roser takes his Yellowbird around the Nurburgring. It's 20 years old (the video) and many credit him as the originator of the drift (dunno if that's entirely correct, but it sure sounds plausible). The Japanese have taken it to a whole new level in the last 10-15 years.

I mean, I'm a bit like Bruno, in that I'm sick to death of watching Stepmania, but what I wouldn't give to be able to do a half decent drift around (any) corners, LOL!

Great thread!

;)

*Not impressed*

He is another deuche bag that wants to show off driving backwards during races.

If he can beat me in a race then I will be impressed.

1. I'm sure he doesn't need you to be impressed. 👎

2. So you really care if he races backwards offline? You want to hold his hand too? As far as I know, you can't get a replay from online races ;)

3. So you are the man to beat, huh?

4. I liked the video 👍

- Does it now make sense, when everything is in context?

- Spell "sense" for me.

- You sound just like a man who like's to hold men's hands, but sorry it's not my thing. Better luck with somebody else. ;)

im sick of it because when my ps3 is in idle.. 90% of the videos are stepmania in art morrison :ouch: that man/girl is great on what he/she does but i'd rather watch more variety of random vids..

@IsmokeGT: i wont give you my hand on this too...

That is insane drifting skill! I am not a good drifter by any means so when I see stuff like this I am impressed! Loved the 360's! Well done! 👍

It's ignorant to say drifters can't race, and only show off. It amazes me at what people say about drift without actually acknowledging the intricate control or skill required to drift.

This is not a drift vs grip thread. Each to their own. If watch the video and don't like it, click back and go and do something else.

Cut out the petty arguments. You've already been told once already in this thread. If it continues, warnings and/or infractions will be given out.

It was born in Japan, Stefan Roser was just driving beyond the limit, still incredible his video... But drifting was born on the Touge.

FAntastic video, drifting i find quite easy to do (low-medium slip angles) but doing 360s and catching them, with no contact with barriers (or oncoming traffic) or snap-back (thing i suffer most with..maybe i wouldnt if i had a FFB wheel)

The guy has skills and im sure when he does online grip races he is faster than a lot of people (obviously he wouldnt spend the race going sideways)

IsmokeGT,i'd love to race you on the 550PP suzuka RWD race to see how epic u think u are

Awesome vids! Stuff like this is really the only thing keeping me going back to GT5P to try out new things. I can do the 360s on a straight line, but directly into a drift? That's absolutely bonkers! Not to mention the 720 entry at Fuji .

BTW, that F2007 vs Kei cars at HSR reminds me of this :D

I totally disagree , you say drifting is for people who cant race , im top of a few leaderboards in drifting and usually always finish top 5 in any online races

Drifting is something thats been missing in GT and i hope its also put in to GT 5 when its released

Third, Retarded is a verb, not an adjective.

re·tard·ed (r-tärdd)

adj.

1. Often Offensive Affected with mental retardation.

2. Occurring or developing later than desired or expected; delayed.

According to the dictionary it is... ??????:confused:

-edit: Looks like I got Tree'd earlier on in the thread... OOops... :) I shouldve read on... But I knew for sure retarded wasnt a verb :D

Sounds like infractions will be handed out according to the last few post.

Copy and pasted-
re·tard 1 (rĭ-tärd')
v. re·tard·ed, re·tard·ing, re·tards

v. tr.
To cause to move or proceed slowly; delay or impede.
v. intr.
To be delayed.
n.
A slowing down or hindering of progress; a delay.
Music A slackening of tempo.

Before anyone responds, the "v" means verb, an action word.
Like I told the one guy in a PM, it is the past tense verb form.
I will give you all the same example I sent him, privately- "The engines timing was retarded so it will not detonate."
http://conjugator.reverso.net/Conjugation-english-verb-retarded.html -More examples of why I am right.
