I feel more safe in a small car than a gargantuan SUV.
You aren't the only one. While I'm sure big cars are "safer" in general, I'd always choose a smaller, more nimble one for not getting into an accident in the first place.
VTEC isn't anything special.
It depends on the metric you're using to define "special".

Is VTEC some be-all and end-all answer to performance? No, it is not.

Is it a lot of fun driving a high-revving engine with a distinct change in response, power and character when you pass a certain crank speed? For me, yes, it is. I'd say the vast majority of cars I drive these days are turbocharged. Hopping back into a naturally-aspirated car, and especially a Honda with a high-revving VTEC motor, is always something I savour.

- The R34 GT-R, Mitsubishi Evo X and JZA80 Supra may be great cars but they are considerably overrated.

- The Mazda MX-5 is not the best thing since sliced bread.

- The Mitsubishi 380 was criminally underrated (save for those stupid TMR hotted up versions).

- The E36 M3 Evos were more entertaining to drive than the E46

- The flat-six powered Subaru Libertys are by far more interesting than the turbo fours.

Yeah, the Evo X wasn't exactly lusted after here either, given how brilliant the previous generations had been.

Not sure I'd call the R34 GT-R overrated either. Maybe by the internet community, but it got fantastic reviews back in the day so I'd say it's exactly as good as people who've driven it say it is. (Incidentally, I've driven one too - and it's pretty good).

The Supra though? Probably. Lots of hype around that one that really isn't justified by its original reviews. Definitely a car that's been built up in the internet era.

Wait, the Evo X? Over here it's massively hated.

The Evo X has been very frequently referred to as a GT-R-lite in the media (except somehow more interesting to drive) and as some all-conquering track beast by owners.

While it has some similarities in the former with the massive amounts of technology laden across its chassis, the point that @homeforsummer makes is correct, the previous generations were not only more involving and just all around more desirable, they were of course considerably quicker.

As for the R34, I have driven one too and it is a great car to drive, but like the Supra there is a lot of hype that surrounds it that makes it appear to be on another level of performance than what it actually was according to the reviews.

@CLowndes888 Why wasn't it? It was one of the first extreme homogation touring cars. Almost everything about it was there for the benefit of the race car. It had a full Motorsport spec engine and a body completely bespoke (bar the bonnet) compared to the normal E30.

@AudiMan2011 The McLaren F1 isnt special? The use of what were then cutting edge materials, an engine that was as good as any racing engine of the time, not to mention the seating lay out as the most obvious thing. It's far more 'special ' all bar a few Supercars made since the F1 was produced.

The Honda S2000 is the best looking Japanese non-racecar.......................ever.
AWD is useless
Assuming we are talking about daily drivers, not race cars, I agree 100%.
I live in a place with snowy winters and I make it to the ski mountain in my 2WD car with studded snow tires EVERY snowy morning. Then I park and I am surrounded by AWD SUVs. Good thing they had AWD. Good thing they have AWD in the summertime too.

I like Tan/Beige interiors.

Tan is awesome.

It actually is a good thing. Not because of necessity of course as it's certainly possible to drive a front wheel drive hatchback with proper snow tyres in the snow. In fact that's what quite many people do here. But simply because of the comfort of having all wheels helping you at starts. The SUVs often have higher ground clearance as well, which is good when the people responsible for keeping the roads clear of snow don't do their job properly.

Simply because something can be done with a 20-year-old Corsa doesn't mean that it isn't any easier/more comfortable in a car with better soft-road capabilities.

Uh, there these:
Ford standing for "Found On Road Dead", Fiat standing for "Fix It Again Tony", and etc. People make these jokes all the time and think they're funny, I think they're stupid.
"I know what's wrong with it, it's a Ford. You know what Ford stands for don't ya? It stands for 'Fix it again, Tony', he he".

- Most of the new performance cars are gadgets

- You don't need more than 200BHP in a sub 1400kg/3000lbs car

- Big brake kits aren't needed on the road (in most cases on the track also)

- Most coilovers are waste of money and time and You don't need them most of the time

- Sticky tires ruin the experience

- Although I support technological advance, I don't see it as a progress in life

- Hipercars and supercars are not necessary, build jets and speedboats for those people

- I don't like variable valve timing on a Naturaly Aspirated engine

- I generally dislike cars above 1100kg/2500lbs although I'm driving one at the moment

- Optional equipment/extras in the car distracts the driver from the driving and the present moment.
You need good rear view mirrors, decent ventilation, clean windows and clear head.

- OEM guys are smart. Lot of R&D went into those cars and we ruin them with modifications, starting with myself

- Imprezas are overrated and expensive

- FWD is faster on the hot lap within 300BHP range on a sub 1000kg/2200lbs car

- Most car enthusiasts are snobs, including myself

- F50 over F40 any day, all day

- Audi is awfully boring and should have one model in the line up called Audi

- This is the best thread
