Unwinnable Game

The Chilli Pepper races are the reverse difficulty races, Hard is Easy and Easy is hard. So if you’ve been putting it on easy to try and win these ones, you’ve actually been making them harder to win. Hard is the Easiest difficulty setting for Chilli Pepper races, on Easy the AI driver run at near World Tour pace.
How can that still be a thing? If this is (still) true it's beyond me why PD didn't react. I mean only one % of gamers get infos in forums like this, everyone else is being kept clueless about that error.

I always assumed it was done intentionally, therefore never fixed. But I haven’t gone back to find out either, I’m just assuming they are still like that. And likely why OP is having such issues with them. I’m not the fastest guy by any stretch, but I can drive decently, and I wasn’t beating them on “easy” back when the game came out.

I've played on hard difficulty since the beginning and frequent this forum regularly and this is my first time hearing this.

To me the chili pepper races have always been near the top of the more difficult races in the game, with the AI running decent paces and seemingly being more aware of their surroundings. I enjoyed them more than most, but they were also tougher than most.

I would be very surprised if lowering the difficulty made them harder than they were.

Try it on both hard and easy, and take note of the AI lap times in both cases, maybe it has been fixed now. But it absolutely used to be the case 100%.

I was always under the impression the reverse difficulty bug effected one race (a mission at Tsukuba) and the chilli pepper events are unaffected by difficulty at all.

If I remember correctly, it was chilli pepper races and one or two mission races.

Gran Turismo 7, has unwinnable games. I have played every GT game. This is the first time 11%, thru the game I have to give up. I can't run "chili pepper" races hundreds of times. I feel ripped off. I have an expensive racing setup. There is no decent info on these races available anywhere I can find to help win these races. I find some of the Mission races unwinnable. This is not a skill issue. It's the game, specifically BoP. It's ridiculous and the GT website doesn't have a number, address, or any other descent way to address the issue with them. GT7 is terrible. I wouldn't give it one star.
Ok...I may have had trouble with playing with some parts of this game. I say that the missions especially the one where you need to get the VW Beetle up the hill would be difficult. However I find it enjoyable none the less. It is frustrating but in some other sections of my races it's not bad. There are help to get advice from too. I do have a problem when I don't understand either though some other games are like that too.

I find it odd to hear people think anything other than the level of difficulty was just that.
The game has 3 difficulty options to choose from
0 chilli (easy)
1 chilli (normal)
2 chilli (hard)

and then on top of that adds events with
3 chilli
4 chllli

which to me indicates a fixed difficulty level above the other 3

Though if "we all really wanted to clear this mistery", we would simply need to make it a community event.
On a single chosen fixed chilli race, mission or not, have as many players as possible write down the fastest AI total event time per selected difficulty and then compare the averages of easy vs hard.

IIRC it was the Human Comedy races, where ppl assumed that they're harder at easy difficulty than on hard, not the chili pepper races.
That would be great to get definitive answers on this, to put the urban legend to end if it is one.

I am not a perfect racer. In these chili pepper races ( grades 3 and 4), I am not able to run a race without running of thr track once or spinning out once. It just seems like I have to run a perfect race to win. So I do cadt some blame for on myself and didn't mean to come off that way. My bad. I was hoping that some folks could help me. Give me tips. Best cars. Stuff like that. Also my glasses are currently broken. I am nearly blind in my left eye, so that has been affecting my driving. (That isn't an excuse, but it is a problem). I am driving with one ey basically. This is frustrating. I know I can win these races. Any suggestions would be great.
If you'd led with this post you'd probably have been offered more assistance.

From reading this it seems you acknowledge it is indeed a skill issue in part.

As others have said, if you share some of the exact events you're struggling with, and the cars you're choosing we can probably help.

A couple events from this thread

As for the OP, if this is the first time playing a recent Gran Turismo game, maybe start with My First Gran Turismo demo. Seriously. There's no need to buy the prize 18 cars and there's a Practice Mode.

Other than that, what car are you using in the Chilli race? Front wheel drive, Rear wheel drive, four wheel drive?

I guess you could run the races without participating and check the AI's time. But since they're not consistent in every race you would have to run multiple races on each setting to get an average.

That is why I suggested making it a "community project".
Also for not participating, you at least need to get one lap and then enter the pits, otherwise the AI will adher to the yellow flag the player is causing and be slowing down.
I am not sure whether the finish screen will be conclusive if the player does not drive a final lap - for some reason I "fail-remember" that there wouldnt be a leaderboard if the player doesnt correctly finish the race.

Hm, then it would be best to play backmarker I guess. But that's still one hour of driving per race just to see how quick the AI is. No idea if ppl would be willing to do this.

I used to do the high speed ring Gr4 race and it did not matter what difficulty was set. There was no difference in the race.

I think this is not the game difficulty, GT7 is already a simulator. If everything were easy, tournaments or the systems people set up would not matter. I have a thrustmaster t128 steering wheel. And some difficult races are easy, some easy races are difficult. I couldn't pass some cups without help from gtplanet. It looks a bit like this example. It's like calling Ferrari and saying, "It's very difficult to drive your cars, can you make it a little easier?"

Propably I am going to put it to test later.
Did a test-run/test-wait.
If the player is in the pits while the time runs out, there is no leaderboard, so
lap 1 into the pits
around 1m50s out of the box for a last lap
then this will show a correct leaderboard with fastest lap and total time.
