wow I love the idea. I'm already working on something for the magazine
PM Sent! 👍Hi there! May I ask what magazine you're working with? I myself is a student at a digital image production school so you might see my interest
Awesome! If theres anything I can to help please dont hesitate to askRegarding the basic layout and design I'm working on that as we speak.
I'm currently using fonts that are licensed for commercial work at no cost from fontsquirrel.com, and intend to keep it that way (not necessarily that source though).
I use Indesign about 75 percent of the time. Treat my photos with Photoshop and create accents and graphics using Illustrator. PM me your email mate and I will send the packaged Amuse S2000 Indesign file complete with all the links (fonts and photos used, columns dimensions etc...) 👍I assume you work in inDesign when designing your own layout for your article, so maybe you could send me a print or sample when you feel like it.
That way I'll be able to see if there are any parts of your work I can incorporate into the magazine.
Agreed about a serif font; when creating my layout I noticed all magazines I looked at used it for their body. For typography use I tend to use sans-serif a lot for projects, as my personal style leans towards minimalism, but serif fonts produce a crisper, easier-to-read column for things like this.
My thoughts exactly. Getting more people involved in any way will help the e-mag create that "tailor-made" and personal feel. Which in turn will contribute to the ventures success and longevityThe Photomode sub-forum is brimming with quality, so I'm sure drumming up interest there would be simple 👍
Layouts real nice sir! Very professional in my opinion 👍Thanks! Like I said though, minimal thought needed for that layout, since I borrowed many features from the pages of Evo to get the feel right. Gill Sans is an excellent sans-serif type in that example, and the body text (and main title, and quotes) was Times. Not New Roman, though .
I think you're right. By limiting this project to a group it wouldn't get the same attention nor help from the community.Personally, I feel a User Group is counter-productive; the entire point of this is to bring the community together. A thread on the subject is far more visible than a group, and will have more people popping in, either to contribute or just enjoy. This is just my view though, I'd leave it in the hands of Schwadegan or AE Vector as they seem to be doing the most work in this matter.
Any help you need guys, I'm more than willing to work on anything. A regular column, any Photomode work, you name it. Keep it up 👍
Got it, thanks! A question though since you're in the business; Is it really ok to use fonts like Helvetica for purposes like this without a license? As promised my Amuse GT1 spread. 5 paragraphs, 650 words, 3 column grid layout. Typography is Helvetica Neue (Condensed) fonts for all text except for my headline (Bebas Neue, can be downloaded free from dafont.com) and main body copy (Times). Body is just dummy text by the way. I can design but cant write to save my life

This is a great idea and everything that has been posted so far looks fantastic. I was wondering, what settings do you use to make those layouts? Is it just photoshop or do you use a specialized program with templates? (for my own curiosity)
The layouts are made in Adobe InDesign CS5 using Photoshop and Illustrator as complementary programs.
Are all the pages going to be totall different or are there elements that will be universal?
Also is the magazine just going to be called GT?
I sent the pictures you asked for, tell me if you need any more!
This is a very early draft of my first article 'Italian Dream' where I drive a 458 around Monza and then an F40 through Toscana and in Rome. I've yet to add images, but have an idea of the layout.
How would this happen?
I just send you a text + some pictures, and you put it in those kinda pages, or should we put in a sorta layout before?
To quote myself from earlier; I could see how this would be fun for the people writing the articles, but it would be an utter chore for the person to assemble them all into one unite magazine.
How would someone with an "exclusive" tuning set up go about it? So far i'm thinking like posting the settings, and maybe go through the process of how I came to that.
That might be interesting, even more so if you include the process. Just a tuning set alone doesn't really qualify as an article since we all have different driving styles - but with a report on how you thought and the process itself, it could end up being a good article.
Will this magazine actually be duplicated ? Like , really printed and everything ? Would be awesome if you could make a magazine totally dedicated to Gran Turismo. But I think you need permission from Sony or PD for that.
There is so much to write about. Since there are so many cars to write about , and so many users to can be a part of it.
I'm really curious to what this turns out to.
EDIT :
I'm also willing to make photographs by request. Let me know if you need a specific picture and you don't have time to make it yourself.
Would be cool though.
Anyway , i've seen the 'japanse dream' thingy you are working on , and it has inspired me to write an article on a few japanse cars. But what exact car is that ? Rx7 tuned I see , but under wich brand is it ?
Also , i've send you the 'birth of an addiction' pictures. Let me know what you think about it.
I managed to snap some photos of the First Portrait (Practice at Autumn Ring--turns out they only let you do single-make races, which is disappoint). I went with the Silvia K Dia's Selection '90, Premium, so we can get some of that used car feel going on here, and I got 4 good shots that I'll review.
I have been following this thread when ever I have some free time.
I have a couple questions
When will the first issue be released for download?
I don't mean to rush you guys or anything I am just asking who ever us looking at the pace of things to give an estimate.
Also How often will the issues be released, every month 4 times a year etc.
third does jordan know about this he could post a news article on it and get more readers to write articles and since he is a journalist he could probably write something in aswell.
I would love to help write an article but my time does not allow me. maybe when I am free I will try to help you guys out.
Thanks to everyone who is helping make this possible I am looking forward to reading it.
Naturally, the number of magazines we make also depends on that we get new articles in a steady stream to keep up the pace. This should be either a bi-monthly mag or a seasonal mag, so that we can gather content and then revise it considerably. Bi-monthly would be my favorite choice, because we can have 6 issues a year with plenty of content and, at the same time that volunteers and the staff can get their articles ready, there won't be too much time in between issues. That is another issue to consider, especially because many of us have a life outside GT (unfortunately).
