Ive tried it 10 Front 0 Rear Worked really well. Tried it on my S14 All Stock Except Mid Turbo, Close Range Gear box and coil overs :).

Just you have to adapt to it. But i do like being able to control the brakes separately.

5-5 brake bias locks wheels far too easy when not using ABS.

I use LFB and my foot is used to the delicate touch required. But it is useful to have it like that. I stole one if your cars and didn't realize your brake bias was at 1-1. Damn near plowed through a few people when I went to use them.

You actually have more control of the car with abs off. You can make the car slide straight with foot and hand brake locked instead of at an arc with just the ebrake.

Yep. The ABS physics are complete garbage on this game. The hidden stability factors with it just on 1 is too much. You feel more of the car, you can also control it better (with practice of course).

LayNLow layin' it down in the 370Z. Gotta turn that ABS off folks 👍

Well it's hard to see where exactly no abs was used but its there. :-P
Didn't realize this was caught on camera. Awesome.

I have your crazy Madrid reverse link too. Just sucks cause I didn't run at all and only watched, so I can't fast forward. It's like 7 minutes into the replay... 👎

I use it since it makes my car easier to start the drift. I don't care what people say about using the E-Brake for drifting, it's just my style.

I noticed all sorts of elitism in all kinds of areas of gaming and other activities...

Experienced drifters often make fun of me and others like me because we simply don't drift well at all. Sometimes it works, but more often than not we're in a wall or on the lawn, moments from total wreck or death, if it was real life.
Same with FPS games, where I get fragged so fast, I'm a sure thing for headhunters, and the butt of many a joke...

But I was unaware that drifters are divided into those who use the handbrake and those who think that is less than favorable. Just what exactly is wrong with it? Some of my cars will powerslide in corners just because I over-torque them, others will grip until I lock the wheels, and with a (near-)default DS3 setup, the handbrake button just works very neatly. It's not necessary in every situation, certainly not needed for every car I drive and tried to drift...

I see cool cockpit-simulation setups here, people are obviously taking their handbrake control seriously. I'm not that hardcore into improving the GT experience, I just like the "feel" I get through the controller alone, but I can see how a proper seat, wheel, pedals and levers can be very cool.

It's obviously a matter of style. I personally don't LFB... I've tried it, but it's so much re-learning to control that it would cut into my actual gaming time. I play for fun and fun alone, and putting that much effort into it seems a little bit more for people without families and careers, just sayin...

edit: I'm going to give it a try without ABS but with BB really low instead... I have no idea what that'll be like

Sorry to see you feel this way. Not everyone is like this...

There is nothing wrong with using the hand brake. I feel there are parts of tracks that require it's use. I personally do not use much hand brake, but I will if needed. To completely write it off and not use it at all I feel is ludicrous.

Get with it! http://www.derekspearedesigns.com/handbrake

Just different strokes for different folks. What one may deem fun you may deem a waste of time.

How did this go for you? I run no ABS, light brake pressure, and low rear brake bias of 2/3 or 3/4.

LayNLow 👍
A MUST handbrake and ABS off type situation.

i take you are using a steering wheel?👍

The video is of PSN: LayNLow (GTP: Suzuki), in the 370Z who uses a G25 & no ABS.

I was just parked in the NB Miata watching. I use a G27 & no ABS as well...

it just looks like it when you or he is steering it seems really sensistive

Same here. Having ABS off really gives you a better feel.

Just looks to me like the room was setup with low race quality. If you set a room up with low race quality, the replays look twitchy like that.

I think we did end up taking over a public lobby that day as my lobbys/lounges are always set to High/High quality. Chase cam adds a bit of twitch, plus my recording device/rendering skills aren't the best...

True that.

This. Plus I was trying out some different lines, so I wasn't concerned with how good the run was or wasn't. No idea it was going to be recorded either. And to top it off, it had 850-900hp in it.

No you're drifting was fine. Just the room settings made you look twitchy. I know you are a lot smoother in person. I have drifted with you many times.

I don't use the handbrake in GT5 because it doesn't work as in real life. It's good for tandem and getting me out of trouble when I make a mistake in real life, but when I try to use it like that in GT5 it doesn't work, as it's up to the game when the clutch goes in so the hand brake causes more understeer than in real life. I don't use the clutch in GT5 either because of the messed up gear change.

But yeah it's up to you what you do in GT5, but in real life many consider handbrake spamming a crutch and it takes the skill out of drifting, but who really cares if you're having fun and not in a competition with pros right.

I've tried both for an extensive amount of time and I can't tell a difference between ABS OFF/ON.

There is a huge difference between off and on. I can make the car slide straight for a good ways with it off. With it on, you will always be following an arc around the front wheels.

You can on the wheel Ben. But I still prefer ABS on. If you want to slide further use your E brake that's what it's there for :).

So basically having it OFF just makes it EASIER to link corners. :)

I guess thinking about it I did find hard corners a little easier...

It doesn't make it easier to link corners. Having it off makes it so you can lock the front brakes and the rear at the same time. Doing this will make the car slide straight instead of in an arc around the front wheels since they still turn. This is useful for insanely long entries, or where you need to link an almost impossible set of corners. This can help you do it if you know what you are doing.

Looks kinda shabby when you see all four wheels lock up though. I know what you mean though, I use abs but I do join lobby's with abs off and manage to drift ok. I just lower the brakes to 2-3 and it doesn't feel much different to abs on. Once I get abit more used to my wheel I'm going to start drifting with no abs.

Just turn it off now. You'll adjust in less than ten minutes and the reward is much greater. I've bewn wheel drifting for four years now, and started drifting without abs one week ago and i'm never using it again.

Yes but your used to your wheel, I've only had my wheel for a few week and I am still learning the clutch, once I am comfortable with it I will try abs off.

How's that clutch treating you btw? I've found it's slip spot, which is a very small window so I could ride the clutch (nomuken) to keep revs up instead of clutch kicking.

Works good for me
