Vanished manufacturers you would like in GT?

Automotive history is full of glorious manufacturers, vanished due to budget or technical troubles. Some of them have a great history, full of successes and wins.

I think they should be represented in GT, not necessarily in GT5, but somewhere down the line.

One that immediately comes to mind is Matra.

As far as road cars go, Bizzarrini, De Tomaso & Duesenberg would also be cool to see.

I know there's plenty of defunct manufacturers out there & I don't pretend to know them all. Any other manufacturers you would like to see (road cars or race cars)?

The Gillet race car from GT3! Not sure if that is the right spelling, and not sure of the manufacturer!

Gillet is the Mfr, the Vertigo is what you're after. 👍

As for me, I would have to say...I can't even think of anything. I'm going to have to back up Venturi and Vector.

I miss you, baby :(

Gillet Vertigo Race Car? yea Gillet would be the manufacturer. it would be intresting to see their complete line up, less the Vertigo was the one and only car they made to compete in race series.

Here's a later model i'm presuming of what we had available on Gran Turismo 3.

The Vertigo is something along the lines of a homologation special, I don't think Tony has tried his hands at another road car let alone a racer. I could be wrong though...

For me thats easy Pontiac (well not gone just yet) and Oldsmobile.

Pontiac i was told just last night by a co-worker, he read in a morning article on Spet. 20, 2009 that despite their efforts with the new G6's and GTO they went belly up. i told him i'd check into it to be certain because i didn't believe it and that i will.

yea i couldn't imagine seeing a Gillet four door saloon on sale. figured it was a strictly racing cars built by Gillet and deodorant j/k lol.

Well I am almost positive the last new Vibe and G6 went off the line already. So they really are building NO new cars. Whats on the lots is on the lots. Less than 100 new G8 GXP's remain! (Great investment if you have the money! Plus it is wicked fast!) They did not go belly up, GM decided to get rid of its third best selling division in North America, 👎 to save product developement and marketing dollars. They claimed they had to many brands and models, they did but I would have just cut Saturn, Hummer and GMC. GMC is a carbon copy of Chevrolet aside of the Denali trim line! I always was a Pontiac man and so was my dad, even his father, it is sad for me to see them go. It was always the GM brand that had the best looking and sportiest cars, that blue collar folk could actually afford. At least we still have two right now in my family to enjoy.:)

And I'm being absolutely serious.

i think my 1 year old in her old walker would post a better 1/4 mile time than that. what's the specs and manufacturer btw?

Peel P50!

And I keep forgetting how sexy the retro Stratos is; it's things like that which piss me off with car manufacturers.

did GT3 not have thee nicest F1 cars, random question...?

is Peel P50 that oversize recycling blue bin on wheels??

the first one looks nice the yellow not so much.

can't agree more. im actually interested in to what it is.

It's a Peel P50 built in the 1960s on the Isle of Mann. 49CC engine from a moped and top speed depended on how much you had for breakfast (to quote Top Gear). ;) I believe it is still the smallest production car ever, but I could be wrong.

But I'm interested in driving this:

The Leyat Helica. A propeller-driven car.

yea i'm quite drawn to this propeller car too --->>^, lol. so on the Peel who quoted it's top speed as depending on breakfast Captain Slow, Hamster, or my main man Jeremy Clarkson i'm almost sure it was Clarkson.

Cords are awesome.

The Locomobile - so named because they made cars that were "as strong as any locomotive", a pretty bold claim. Was the first American built car to win an international auto race, in 1908.

The disappointment I felt after finding out there were no 'real' F1 in cars in GT4 was pretty bad.........so in short, absolutely.

yea it bummed me out. i couldn't see how there were a handful to... what is it 2 or 3 on GT4, if including the Black Model F1? tell me i'm wrong and my mind is going blank and i'm miscounting the F1 cars on Grab Turismo 4!

Uh, well actually, I believe there was only 1 F1 car in GT4. The Polyphony Digital Formula Gran Turismo. It came in like 5 or 6 different color schemes. :indiff:

OMG i'll put money on the line i can beat that thing on foot mid-stride. i'll let my daughter push it over and dismantle it for fun. what a pointless car, glad its in the record books and i hope no modern day manufacturer tries to make anything smaller just for record sake. hey could you imagine the insurance quote on that tiny thing and the MPG's hmm...

1, indeed. 2 if you want to count the black version.

yea that blows man! there was a great little variety on A-SPEC. now there's just 1 and i've driven it and owned it on an older profile so i think it's time to pay GameStop a visit for an old GT3 copy 💡!
