Very Helpful Controller (DS3) Button Mapping

The best way(for me) has always been since GT1:

right stick up: gas
right stick down: brakes
left stick: steering
L2: shift down
R2: shift up

I find both sticks the best option for precise driving. You will never get precise accelerating or braking with the buttons even if they are presure sensitive. This is the key to dominate any car without TCS, ASM, or even ABS(in cars that don´t have it) no matter how powerful it is. DS3´s L2 and R2 are a good option, but they don´t have the feel that the stick have, plus, shifting would be very difficult.

For me too! Since GT1

Left stick for steering, right for gas/brake, gears in the upper shoulder buttons, and that's about it. Rest of the stuff doesn't really matter.

I never found the right stick for throttle and brake intuitive at all, to me the throttle and brake should be mapped to separate controls as is the case in "real life"...i found flapping the right stick up and down to be a little odd, not to mention if you tilt the stick a little left or right you won't get full throttle or brake, something which has less of an impact with the steering perhaps

That said, different strokes for different folks and I know the right stick configuration is very popular, indeed the analogue "default" control for most of the GT games.

if you using R2,L2 as accelerate and brake, and it annoying pressing down the button you can get one of these. A Real trigger by Gioteck

I use R2/gas and L2/brake, this trigger upgrade seems awesome!! Thanks for the heads up!

Am I the only one using L2/R2 triggers for Accel/Braking and L1/R1 for gear changes? It has seemed the most intuitive for me, I use my middle fingers for the triggers and index fingers for gear changes. I switched to this during Prologue, was able to get a lot more control.

I have a weird setup. I have both the right stick and triggers for gas and brake. It is much more natural for me to use the sticks, but sometimes it's too hard to get a good balance through the corners with the sticks, so I mapped it so I could do a little "left foot braking" if I need to. It's good for the first corner of Grand Valley and other high speed corners/braking zones.

I must be stupid. I mapped the RA functions to my controller so I could turn off the aids (NASCAR, etc. ) but when I bring them up, ASM is still grayed out and I can't change it. Am I doing something wrong? Also, can you only bring it up while you are actually moving/racing (not on pause)?

Lol, I've had these since day 1 they came out. I love them. I also use grip pads on the analog sticks. I love my controllers.

Guys, I switched from the []/X buttons to L2/R2 for accelerating and braking with GT5. Is there any way to adjust the sensitivity for L2/R2? I figured that depressing the trigger halfway would mean ~50% throttle/brake but it doesn't seem to work like that. In some cars, even pushing it down a hair is already 50%. And it seems to be different in different cars.

Any idea?
