villeneuve back in 2005?

Regarding the BAR decision. Williams at the time had no engine manufacturer ties, and was using the "Meccachrome" engines. He had the choice of a new team, with lots of "potential" & dollars and Honda backing, partnered with his friend and manager, or another year at Williams, with a three year old Renault non-factory supported engine... well it isn't much of a choice is it?

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Williams wasn't going anywhere at the time either.

haha, yeah, you do suck.

Yeah I know... :indiff:

The Williams Meccachrome wasn't a good drive until BMW got back, but a smart move back then would have meant a seat in a red or silver team, and that wasn't availible for him back then. (I'm not completely sure about McLaren though) So a new team with promising elements and good funding unfortunately had a lot of appeal.

Can you imagine Montoya and JV in a team together?

That Mecachrome year was the worst for Williams in the last decade if memory serves, so I suppose 98 didn't hold much promise either way.

Oh and just when I thought Montoya might be maturing he's having a whinge about Michael and Imola again, the GPDA is meant to have a meeting to sort out what's allowable when defending your position.

Well, that plus Pollock and (rumoured) equity in the team...

I wouldn't mind seeing JV in there - I rate him as one of the great talents of F1 of the late 90's - I just can't see it happening.

If I could wish for two things. My first wish would be...... For the chick I currently like..... and the second......... To have JV stay the **** away from F1.

Pizzonia sucks!
Give him a good car and he will gloat, think he's better then evryone else, and crash out at the first turn of the race taking out a cople of good drivers with him...

anyways

FINALLY! A Cople of guys who agree with me (but express it without so much idiotic comments (lol)) in this unfair forum where freespeach is so badly approved by europeans... no im not racist but look at the ppl who tell me to shut up and youll see why I just said that.

Hey Frank said (lately) that he whanted a Experienced driver for next year and williams (and jv) confirmed that Jv bought 3 new helmets and 3 new white race suits (ie BMW white)

The future is promising for Jv fans

btw for the comments about new canadian drivers... find one, and ill support him as much as jv... but Carpentier / Tagliani / Tracy (well maybe tracy but) and others arnt good enof or arnt up to the F1 stage (like andrew ranger)(next f1 champ)

I'm curious as to why Williams know what JV buys. I want to see an inventory of his garbage bin and his shopping list next.

Also, I bought some food yesterday. I'm not about to become a chef or a franchise restaurant owner. Maybe if he did buy some they were to sign for an auction or maybe he just has a fetish. We've no idea as to his motivations.

As for your list of Canadian drivers, I think Tracy at least would have potential to do well in F1, but to say most don't cut it is wrong because I think a lot of people in F1 can't cut it and only got there because they brought a bag full of money from Red Bull or the Hungarian government etc.

Ever since the new tabacco laws, young Canadian drivers have lost a great income of cash.It will be harder for them to get the funds to move up the ladder, and I think this is happening in other countries as well. Not just here.

F1 doesn't need JV - there are plenty of good up and coming drivers to fill the Williams seat. JV has shown all his cards already - he can be quick, hungrey and brave in a good car, but sloppy, unmotivated and stroppy in a bad one. Frank knows these facts, do you think he would risk such a spectacular back-fire? Especially with the incredibly media-polished and motivated Webber as his likely partner.

I'd rather someone else get a chance. Villeneuve had 8 seasons, won a few races and even a championship, one of few people to cross the Atlantic and do so, I think he should be proud of that and just fade away to tributes like at Goodwood.

I think Tracy has alot of skill in a Champcar but I don't think he has what it takes for f1. I mean Da Matta was a GREAT driver in Champcars but, team aside, he hasn't done a great deal in F1. Wilson is currently doing well in Champcars are so was Mika Salo last year. This suggests that people can move from F! into the lower category of Champcars but it seems like too big a leap for drivers to go from Champcars and really perform in F1.

Ahem.

I think your avatar is giving me a seizure.

There are always exceptions to the rule.
Well, sorry about the avatar :indiff: I'm about to change it anyway.

Of ChampCar drivers that went to F1 in the last decade, JV won the championship, and JPM was in a good position to get it last year until the USGP. That makes 2 successes out of 4, it's not that bad. (unless I forgot about someone besides DaMatta and Zanardi?)
