The official V8 facebook page posted a video of Bathurst moments, and this crash was in the middle of it. Holy crap.

I was there that year. He was very lucky that Chris didn't nail him in the door.
Very similar to Mark Porter's fatal development series crash just two years earlier...

Fun fact: that's the same Paul Weel of Paul Weel Racing, which you might know as PWR - the group that supply intercoolers to everyone from Formula 1 to NASCAR teams.

Interesting to see what they drive to Bathurst next year. The Figaro is going to very hard to top.

He was sent to hospital, but from memory there were pretty much no major injuries, just extremely shaken up. Probably the closest thing to a miracle that we've ever seen at Bathurst.

So uh yeah, this is happening.

This more along the lines of what I expected for the girls.

Would look better without the splotches of white, although it's much better than most of the liveries Erebus has had this year.

I have no idea how that ice cream company makes any money to pull this off, I've seen at least 15 stores close down in the last 2 years, and some of those stores were thriving businesses, this is a big surprise, kinda looks ok,
Last ditch effort to bring in some business?

As I said, some of those businesses were thriving in fantastic business precincts with lots of foot traffic,

I frequent my local wendy's for a thickshake, but some of them cost around $8 AUD, which compared to some of the other places its a little steep,

Sounds like Cold Stone here in the states. Nearly that much for a cup of ice cream.

Cold Rock is its name over here.

Feels weird seeing the name Wendys('s) and no burgers available.

I like it. Too bad the Harvey Norman superfriends team didn't get it.

We've had this discussion about sponsors before. It is time for new ones. How come the hardware stores like to have ads during the race but, not on a race car. Masters are popping up in New places. Get them on a car. Penske did it right and professionally and the get some air time. Now, I'm waiting for M&M's, Bunning's and Spotlight.

Spotlights the lamest store ever haha, we don't have the major company sponsors in V8Supercars because it doesn't take enough of the market for sports in Australia. AFL or NRL would be smarter options for a company to sponsor in Australia, unless it's a Automotive sort of company, or an energy drink company. Mars had a medium sized logo on one of the Shannon's Supercar Showdown cars from a couple of years ago, I think that's the closest M&Ms will get to V8Supercars. Bunnings and Masters are two that im surprised we haven't seen yet.

On the new Merc livery, I like it the more I look at, except for the cream coloured Cow splotches. I feel as though it's going to one I those Liveries that we'll back on in some time. Like, you'll see this race in 5-10 years time, and you'll see the this car and think 'ohh the good old Ice Cream Merc', it could just be me haha

Isn't V8supercars the 3rd most popular sport in Aus?

Hmm maybe, still though, it just wouldn't be the smartest option

I'm fairly sure RedBull is a major company  but yeah I get what you're saying. Motorsport only tends to attract certain types of sponsors. I'm happy that Erebus have some proper sponsors at least, and that livery looks great.

V8SC may be one of the top sports in Australia, but a lot of people only watch the big marque events, like Adelaide, Sandown, Bathurst, Gold Coast & Sydney (both Sydney events). I believe if this overseas expansion proves successful, we might see those brands grace some cars, but that's a big if.

the Harvey Norman superfriends team

!

Didn't realise that the Wendy's deal is for the rest of the year? I originally thought it was just a one off for Bathurst. Nice to see some sponsors getting on board Erebus.

If race fans across the globe view this series. Some UK racers bought older V8 Commodores for their own series. A minority, yes.

Thing is, racers want to be a part of Bathurst like driving in Le Mans, Daytona, Spa, etc. Vodafone was with F1, Red Bull is in F1, Penskes organisations are in NASCAR.

I agree, if Asia jump onboard, it's a win for even more exposure.

Except for Pukekohe. Don't know what they'll do there...

I actually quite like it. They've clearly put some thought into it. It's more than just a few lines here and there - it looks like a proper livery.

Ugh, that much sugar would make me sick.
