Apart from launch & 2nd gear, you must shift at 4000-4200 RPM in order to stay in the power band. After each shift, apart from 1st into 2nd, the needle needs to land on 3000RPM.
Trial & Error will be needed at first to find the right shifting points. But if you dont follow this rule you will lose a lot of speed and you lap times will be increased significantly.
Other than that the car handles great. Still a slight bit of oversteer when you need it for that extra bit of fun.

Just revisited my '66 VW Beetle "Scarab" found over at Clueless Tunes :sly: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6560605#post6560605.

The '66 1200 is fun car that can be quicker than expected. It recently lost quite a substantial amount of weight(1160kg->780kg!) with a game update. Just a bit of ballast(45-55 weight distribution), camber, and a bit of negative toe in the front seemed to work for my sports soft setup. Like Jackthalad said, definitely has a unique power band in between 3000-4500rpm with the mid-turbo setup. If you are using racing soft tires and my transmission settings then increase first gear by +0.050 (2.303 -> 2.352) to maintain the quick acceleration from a standing start or low speed.

Hope this is helps keep the Beetle upright. :dopey: Good Driving!

On Nurburgring GP/D (Online A-Spec Challenge No.3) with 500 pp,which means the car is not fully powered up,NOTHING seems to work :banghead:

Tried Jackthalad's settings, with and without ballast. With 50kg up front things are somehow better but still can't hit the gas during a corner without risking a flip over.
With Theo777 settings things are the same give or take. The car is prone to flip at every corner!!
Anyone nailed this???Please advise!

Are you flipping when you hit the curbs?

Or just in every corner? I take it you are using Racing softs.

If its when you hit the curbs it's probabably because of low ride height, but could also be the compression in the dampers.

Try these changes, although donth know itf they'll work

Ride Height
-12 ------- -7
Spring Rate
8.0 ------- 10.0
Extension
6 ------- 7
Compression
3 ------- 3
Anti-Roll Bars
3 ------- 2

May not work but could do, its just of the top of my head.

This car feels top heavy no matter what you do. I have a tune that is in the other thread about this car, try that.

It's in every corner and yes I'm using RS tyres.I'll give that tune a chance tonight and let you know.

These new settings AND racing hard tyres have finally made the car drivable!I'll find some time later on to see if it was both or just the tyres that made the difference.Of course on Nurburgring GP/D with all those negative camber turns it still needs for you to extra careful and as always a curb can send you on your roof...

I've been using this setup and having some success.

Ride Height -25 -15
Spring Rate 5.2 5.6
Ext 5 5
Comp 5 4
Anti-roll bars 2 2
Camber 1.2 0.8
Toe -0.10 -0.05
Ballast 48kg Position -50
L/S/D 5/30/25
Brakes 7/3
Final gear 3.550
Max speed 143MPH

all tuning options added, High RPM Turbo, I use the sports exhaust I think it sounds better and running on sports softs, I set to 200hp and 490pp, have been running 1:43's and 1:44's. Hope it helps.:dopey:
