Hello everyone,

Welcome to the Volkswagen Beetle CLub

Gran Turismo Arena (Layout A).jpg

The Volkswagen Beetle is a two-door, four passenger, rear-engined economy car manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003.

The need for this kind of car, and its functional objectives, were formulated by Adolf Hitler, leader of Nazi Germany, wishing for a cheap, simple car to be mass-produced for the new road network of his country. He contracted Porsche in 1934 to design and build it to his exacting standards. Ferdinand Porsche and his team took until 1938 to finalise the design. This is one of the first rear engined cars. With over 21 million manufactured (21,529,464) in an air cooled, rear engined, rear wheel drive configuration, the Beetle is the longest-running and most manufactured car of a single design platform, worldwide.(Source- Wikipedia)

I'm a big fan of the Beetle, ever since i was a kid. I remember sitting in it once years ago, and was completely bowled over by it's looks! Only a few are imported in India, so they are as rare as an empty traffic signal in Mumbai:D

I plan to run the races on Monday's at 20:00 GMT, that is if it suites the people taking part in this of course. I would be glad if this club starts racing in 2 weeks time.

Vehicle Notes

As you know, the stock Beetle is not a very rapid car, so in order to get the bhp level high enough, I will allow turbo kits.

For the driver numbers, base Type A and Typeface B will be used

Use of aero parts and painting is allowed and highly encouraged:tup:👍

Mind you, this is one smoking Bug. With the additional power and its RR drivetrain, It took quite a lot of time to tame it with my amateur tuning skills.

These regulations are not final, I will be running practice sessions to finalize them. You'll are welcome to join in and help me.

4 races will be held each night, 2 sprint races and 2 endurance races, all on the same track.
Due to PD's 🤬 servers, racing online is not a very stable experience . Because of this reason I have disabled voice chat.

Wow Aaroh.
Really good job! Count on me to be there. :)

The car is premium / detailed too which makes it that more enjoyable.
I haven't driven many RR cars in Gran Turismo yet (can't even think of one) so this will be interesting for sure.

There is a common nickname or slang word for the Beetle here in Sweden and that is "Bubbla".
It translates to "Bubble" in English. "Look at that bubble over there."
There are many of them where I live and in fact I saw a yellow one yesterday.

I wish my sister had been there with me yesterday for she has this thing where if someone sees a yellow car they can hit the person
next to them in the arm. Kind of like two for flinching. :)

How exciting with a new one-make club. Well done Aaroh.

Thanks a lot Jocke:) I remember counting the number of yellow cars on the road with my brother. Whoever's got the most wins, though there was no hitting involved:lol:

I'll give this a go, been needing a Monday night room. Not got a bug yet, but will get one tomorrow (working late tonight)
Try it, its quite fun to drive:tup:

Great idea Aaroh! I'll tune up my Bug and come check this out. 👍
Thanks Fergus, this club is inspired by your club:tup:

Sounds cool!!! 👍
I'll try to be there Aaroh...
Hope you make it Patrick:)

Woot! I painted a Eight Ball a while back. Looking forward to trying it out.

I might be drifting at the back of the pack but doesn't matter ;)
Thanks Bergele:)

I am finished with my setup, colors, parts etcetera now (on paper anyway).
It still says 0,0 km on the dashboard though so today will be my first
experience with this little gem of a car.

I'll be online in about 10-15 minutes. :)
And I'm also ready and online...:D

sort of team building thing after the armed robbery last week.

To be honest BB, if I'd been involved in an armed robbery I wouldn't be going mentioning it on a public site. I'm not an experienced criminal, but some I know have told me that this can lead to being arrested.

However, I applaud the notion of team building, you don't want any of your fellow robbers feeling left out and potentially speaking to the Police in retribution.

Cheers, Zo.

Quick edit, I can't recommend the Beetle as a getaway car either. They aren't particularly fast in the real world and do stand out a bit. Better to use a Mondeo or a Toyota, something like that.

Lol I'm a wee bit gassed, but had a great night, Gonny need to wait a day to get my beetle. In the meantime, read up on our robbery, Google armed robbery Edinburgh, laing the jewellers. Guy was in court today.

Nice pics Aaroh! It was really fun... 👍

The BBC - Now there's a catchy name. ;)
BBC...?... That rings a bell, why??? :dunce: :D
However, sounds good...

You've chosen a belter of a car with the Beetle Aaroh, it's fantastically twitchy, but so much more predictable that most other twitchy cars in the game. And, its slimness lets you really thread it through Monaco tight to the barriers, brilliant entertainment.

Sorry mine was such a bore in the looks department, I'd literally only just bought it when I came in the room. I'll pimp it for the next session.

Great racing chaps, I can see this becoming a very popular event.

Cheers, Zo.
