Can any of the current WMD guys speak to the VR Experience in PC2 compared against the first game?

I play PC1 on the Rift with an i7 4790k and 1080ti and, if I'm honest, I'm not very impressed with the graphics of the first game in VR. In order for me to hit 90fps with SuperSampling at 1.2 (configured in the SteamVR Settings), I have to run the game with almost all of the settings on LOW. Considering I have a 1080ti, this is disappointing. Of the racing sims I've played in VR, Project CARS looks worst of them all.

That being said, the actual game play of the first game is great in VR, as almost all games are, and I still love playing PC1. I wouldn't go back to triples unless I absolutely had to. But I am hoping for much better VR optimization for PC2. How do the Graphics Settings required compare between the games? Will I be able to run SS at 1.3 and do better than LOW settings for everything or will PC2 run even worse than the first game?

I assume the UI will be a little cleaner this time around. Can anyone comment on those improvements?

This thread could also be used going forward for the VR users to share settings.

Thank you.

That surprises me. I only had to turn down a few settings in PC1 to get a reasonable experience with my Vive in PC1 and I was running an i7 4770k and 980Ti. I've uninstalled PC1 now so can't remember exactly which settings. Haven't tried PC2 too much in VR yet as I want to save it for release.

I can bump things up to Medium and lean heavily on the ASW and get a fine experience. But for 90fps, locked, LOW on everything but In Car.
I've gone back and forth on it. It seems I can change the settings by the day and get different results. Previously I'd been running everything on LOW and running the SS at 1.5, but that revealed more FPS issues than I had initially noticed. Running the Oculus Tool Tray opened my eyes up to just how low I have to run everything in order to get the 90fps.

Do you really need to hit 90fps ? Im running a 980ti and have low / mid / high settings with dsx2 and ss 1.5 and as long as its over 45 its smooth as silk to me due to ATW. dsx4 is fine without heavy rain / storms only the start gets below 45 typically with dsx4 and ss1.5 in rain etc..

Yeah, I have gtx 1070 and on medium/high settings with ds2x the first game runs quite ok. I know it mostly relies on ASW but it works quite well in racing games. Yes, there are occasional visual glitches, but overall it's a good experience. I would recommend not looking at the FPS too much and just calibrate the settings based on what feels good.

I never experience a lot of performance issues with my GTX1080, but the issue that bothered me the most with PC1 VR was that the cars were not fully rendered and if you looked back or out of the window, the rear wheels and the rest of your car was just a series of blocks, that to me was horrible, but I'm pretty sure that has been fixed this time around....I hope!!!

Yes it has :)

I don't know how to compare (never drove pC1 in VR) but in pC2 and I've been switching between triples and VR for testing purposes clearly, VR.

This was not a bug, its by design. Originaly it seems that PCars was not meant to be in VR, so construction and LODs are very low poly on sections nobody will see. Later then, i think it would have been to much work, to redesign every car.
Be sure, in pCARS2 every detail is here and will be rendered in the same quality as if looking forward.

I don't know how it is in pC1 (by the time I got VR I was already playing pC2 and simply uninstalled pC1) but in pC2 on my 1080 is more than OK.

I am using the same setting in Project CARS 1 as in 2 atm. But, yes 2 looks better than 1.
