@ukfan758 You need to select 5 points races you want to run in.

Also, 2017 Monster Shootout Eligibility
Automatic Entry Requirements:
-Earn a pole position in a points race of the previous season.
-Earn a race win in a drivers championship points race of the previous season.
-Any past Indy 500 champion.
-Defending Monster Shootout winner (Jamie Ngaire-Jardine)

All other drivers that do not somehow fit those requirements, 1) how bad was your season if you are returning? 2) Have no fear, there will be a heat race where the top 3 finishers will race in the Shootout as wildcards.

Heat race length: 100 miles
Monster Shootout length: 150 miles
Rounds 5,6,9,10,11

Going to explain how the ratings will work.
Everyone has had to fill out a form, and those that filled it out know that there were numerous different stats to fill in. In NR2003, there is a min and max for each stat. For 2016, the minimum for the driver stats was at 0. The minimum for the pit crew stats were 20 under what everyone had set in their sheets.

Like last year, the stats everyone filled out applies to the maximum of each category. The minimum, however, will be determined differently. For each stat, the minimum will be 28 points lower than the maximum. This is determined by the number of total races on the calendar.

Along with the stats that everyone filled out manually, there is a set of stats that determine skill at the various venue types; superspeedways like Indy, Michigan, Pocono, and Fontana, speedways like Charlotte, Kentucky, Motegi, and Dover, short tracks like Bristol, Richmond, Iowa, and Martinsville, and then road courses. The method for filling these out is a bit more complex. Each driver will have their best and worst 5 finishes determining the statistics in the following fashion:
For maximum, the basic points earned from the best 5 finishes in the previous season will be combined and then divided by 2. Example being 50+40+35+32+30=187. 187 is then divided by 2 to get 93.5. Due to it being the maximum, decimals will be rounded up, in this case to 94.
For minimum, the basic points earned from the worst 5 finishes of the previous season will be combined and used as they are. So, even if someone's worst five results are 5 points each, the worst the minimum could be is 25.

"But, Angel, what if you haven't done that many races or any at all?" That's a great question. Each rookie or driver unable to fill the 5 race requirement will have their maximums be that of the highest known number from any of the other drivers in the field. The minimum will be 25.

Seems a little needlessly complicated, but if you feel like doing the work
It's actually very simple. It's just hard to explain in layman's terms

Black Rose Racing announcement coming at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow.

Black Rose Racing is proud to announce it has hired Patrick Marcelli of Italy to drive the #7 for the full 2017 season. Sponsorship for the car has shifted a bit. Marcelli will be bringing with him Google as a primary sponsor and paint scheme, while Coca-Cola will remain a secondary scheme. Associate sponsors will be Epson, Eibach, Sparco, Lenovo and Rolex. Jack Daniel's will remain and support the #81 as a sponsor while Rolex will be the primary sponsor of that car.

2015 saw Bethesda Softworks bring us art in the form of Fallout 4. In 2017, Vault 111 will adorn the #84 Chevrolet piloted by Stephanie Porter-Kelley. Alienware, Dell, Ultimate Fighting Championship, Reebok, and Powerade will feature on the car as associate sponsors.

Chevrolet is not the only manufacturer testing 2017 spec engines. Honda is testing as well, and has been testing for some time. "While we've been going through the 2016 season, we've had Jerome Torres and Kaylee Zappa testing our 2017 program at a couple different venues in the U.S." Cat Devil Racing team principal Kunimitsu Kino****a confirmed. "For the ovals, we've been testing at Charlotte and Atlanta, and with our road course package we've been testing at Heartland Park in Kansas as well as Lime Rock Park. We like the data we are seeing and in a couple months, we'll begin to ship out the base engines to the rest of the fantastic Honda teams."

Posting a couple things here as news items.
1) Following the end of the 2016 season, I will post the full financial reports of the teams for 2017. If team principals wish to see those numbers beforehand, please state so privately. Please and thank you.
2) Currently there are 38 entries for the season, and of those 38, there is an estimated 36 that will attempt to race in the Indianapolis 500. What that means is that Bump Day will be quite dramatic.

With the way my luck has been in 2016, my financial standings will be like this:

Looks like we're going to need to stockpile plenty of clean underwear due to all the pairs of pants that will be cacked on Bump Day.

Which Angel will be paying for. Jk.

So, here's the two news articles.
VRR will be adding onto history by being the first American top tier series to visit Shanghai International Circuit when the Straight Talk IndyCar Series visits on the weekend of March 25th, 2017. Shanghai, who will be replacing Suzuka on the calendar following the circuit's promoter's decision to withdraw that event, is eager to welcome the series with open arms. “Shanghai has had the ability to host events like the Formula One Chinese Grand Prix, the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Shanghai, the MotoGP Chinese Grand Prix, as well as the World Touring Car Championship. The VRR Straight Talk IndyCar Series has routinely shown that they have the most competitive racing not only in terms of driver talent, but in the cars, the engines, and the tire suppliers coming in 2017. The series and ourselves are ready to create a sustainable future for American open wheel racing right here in Shanghai.” Shanghai mayor Yang Xiong stated.

“Shanghai International Circuit and the city of Shanghai itself has often been seen as a very welcoming racing city. It's never under any doubt that the Chinese love racing, and we are happy to bring them our type of racing for them to enjoy.” VRR CEO Evangeline Porter said on Tuesday.
2017 will see in expansion in many areas for the VRR Straight Talk IndyCar Series. The number of engine suppliers, the number of tire suppliers, the amount of total entries, the calendar size, and now the series will add one more category. Beginning in 2017, there will be 30 full time entries at every points paying event. Previously, VRR's plan was for there to be 26, but with up to potentially 40 entries being predicted for the upcoming season, VRR has given the green light to expand the field. Under the guidelines approved by the Assembly, the first priority of spots will go to teams that were restricted to part time. Those three teams; Big Blue Motorsports, Eiffel Tower Racing Team, and Rainbow Road Racing, have all accepted a seat each. The fourth seat is to begin being passed among teams with eligibility of expanding in order of team points in the current championship season as of July 30th. Current team standings leader Cherokee Motorsports opted against picking up the extra seat, wanting to remain with just one full time entry. Team Kate Upton, who stood in 2nd place as of July 30th, already has a four car team and thus was exempt from being able to take the seat. Black Rose Racing decided to take the final seat, but have not made any announcement as to which car is getting promoted.

Also making the announcement that I will try to post a news post every day. If people want to have articles featured on the news, feel free to send me it. I think everyone is okay with doing their own thing though but the offer is there. And, this is only day 1 of big announcements. Stay tuned.

"To me, Shanghai has always been a very attractive venue to race at." Stephanie Porter-Kelley stated while she watched her team haulers being loaded up for Pocono this weekend. "I have very good memories of China from my time in Formula One, so I'm very excited to be going back next year as a part of IndyCar. It'd be great to go back as IndyCar World Champion." In her five years of F1, she won the Chinese Grand Prix twice in 2011, her first F1 GP win, and in 2015. In those five years, she never finished lower than 6th at the venue.
Steph? Please? *puppy dog eyes*
Looks like we all know what designs your firesuit will have on it...:sly:
