VW RSI Rally Car

Yeah, I know it's technically not a rally car, but I wanna win that Escudo without investing in a "temporary" car in between. It doesn't handle QUITE like a pure-bred rally car (drifting is doable but a bit eccentric) but the accelleration and top end are quite good.

So far I've won about 75% of the rally races with a 450-460HP Beetle RSI on dirt tires. Having a bit of trouble with a few of the courses though; the wet special stages are a steering nightmare, though I have beaten the 3 lap races therein.

Can anyone suggest some good general rally setups for the RSI, and maybe 1 or 2 for the wet track? Has anyone else taken the RSI all the way through all the rally track races?

Hi. Vorkuta, and welcome to GTPlanet! Look around a bit (though it sounds like you already have), and enjoy a nice long stay.

I've never driven the RSI, but I would say that you probably want to reduce the front LSD settings if you have it installed. In fact, you can try reducing all the LSD settings to 5s and see if that has an effect.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback. Dropped the LSD to 5 and finished all but ONE race in Rally with the RSI. The last track I couldn't crack was the Special Circuit: Wet (normal direction, 5 laps). That stupid Lancer (or whatever) would just pull away like a banshee and when I managed to get ahead I had to work HARD to keep him behind me.

I'd always fail somewhere on lap 4 or 5 with the RSI (just too hard to get that thing to corner well) so I wimped out and sunk 90K into the Lancer Rally Car Prototype that I'd won on a previous race (Special Circuit: Wet II I think) and with that car at !580HP I was able to win fairly easily. The accelleration was about the same, with a bit better response in the mid-range, but the cornering was about 100% better than the RSI.

No surprise I guess, but I WAS trying to do the whole rally series with the RSI...

Ah well, now I have my Escudo so a lot of options are opened up!

Thanks for the feedback.
