Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

News Alert!!!

Starting to post results now.
Look for them in the #3 post soon.

In the meantime to tell you how close this shootout has been the difference in average time between 1st and 20th was 5.472 seconds. The difference in the average times of the drivers was an even closer 3.49 seconds.
Outstanding job everyone and a special thanks to the 7 drivers who survived the marathon of testing 20 of the hotest 500PP FF cars around.👍👍

Times for all cars listed in post #3 listed in order of finish.

Watch post #4 for the list of drivers and the drivers choice award.

The Mazda Atenza is the big surprise in this shootout, right?
Nope Kermit failing to win is the big surprise!:crazy:
Guess you could say that, although an interesting exercise for another time might be to assign the various cars to different tuners and see how they sort out. Also as close as most of these cars are adding a few more drivers could have a significant impact on the final rankings. I've not checked but I would be surprised if the final rankings I've listed is an exact match for anyone's posted times for the cars.

The top 7 are identical to mine, except Praiano's Integra is in front of RJ's Attenza.

Seems pretty fair results all in all to me, as I suspected the harder to drive cars were punished harder.

Was my car one of the harder to drive cars? Just curious.....

Yeah, it looks very fair and it was a great shootout. I think the first place is not the most important thing here. It was a great time! 👍

Thanks to Desperado and all the other guys who were part of this shootout! 👍

Of course. ;) I beat Basilea's tune with yours by over a second, while the average came down to almost nothing.
I drove the Atenza to the only non-tuner sub 2:00 lap, but again, tricky braking lead to slower laps in general.

Also further down the list grippy cars like the SRT-4 and Eclipse's did better overall than my runs. They're good cars, they deserve the credit.

Happy to see this good result, my car is tune by me and for me, a medium driver, and it's easy to go fast with it with only an agressive style and basics skills.
The mazda like i've said in a previous post will have my driver choice if i was a test driver. So smooth, very good car, but only a driver with your skills can reveal this car totaly. That's what happen in your test... and only yoooouuuuuuuuuu !! :)

Thanks to everybody for this fantastic shootout.....!!

A bit off topic but anyone interested in racing and would like to see the darkside of it check out "tage evanson fire" on YouTube. Amazing that he walked away from this.

Are these the final results? If so congrats dr_slump on what I what I heard was an amazing tune. Also thank you to all the other tuners and testers. Special thanks to XDesperado67 for hosting the event and telling me about it. I had fun and hopefully there will be more of these style competitions in the future.

Driver rankings and the drivers choice award are up in post #4 now.

Still have a couple more things I'm planning to do with the data for fun but the important parts are complete.

Those amongst the 7 drivers who haven't yet told me what they want for their bounty please do so.

Doc drop me a list either here or on PSN of how you want your Million Credits.

CSLACR same goes for you and how you want your 500,000.

Sweet competition, I'm surprised my CTR did as well as it did. Well done everybody. Not only did we have a great time doing this we learned things along the way to make the next great event like this even better.

Hats off to all the Tuners. A Big thank you & bow down to all the Testers who stuck through the madness and kept pushing these things laps after lap, car after car, tune after Tune.

INCREDIBLE!

7)Milldrum Average Lap Time 2:04.94 Total Time 41:38.8

I'm number 7, I'm number 7, I'm number 7!

Yay, now I can put under my signature:

'7th fastest driver - Wallbanger's 1st Annual FF Shootout.'

Nice! Fastest CTR & First car behind The Trial's, ITR DC5's & Alien Mazda. I like those results, especially considering the PP fubar, no power limiting & it was My first FF Tune completed in GT5 :D The updated Edition is in my Garage, but pending a gearbox upgrade that's soon coming. 8)

When you think about how much work testing these cars was, I can't thank the testers enough for sticking it out. You guys are off tha Hook!

So it is with great pleasure that I announce the "Drivers Choice Award".
Adrenaline Junkie's Mazda Atenza 25Z '07
Well you guys just missed sneaking 3rd place in front of all the Integras so maybe this will help make up for it.

I believe I owe AJ a ticket. I can't remember what level I said. I'll send a PM and organize it for later this week.

Thanks again all for organizing/participating in this event. I enjoyed it and I hope I didn't cost anyone a higher place than they deserved.

Definitely agree that the drivers who survived this are the best. Decided to throw a little something extra their way. Any of the 7 who want to can request a special car tune from Outlaw Motorsports Garage. I'll do my best to ensure it suits your individual driving styles.

I promise this won't be the last Wallbanger's shootout and I'm already planning ways to make the next one a bit more driver friendly.

As Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive Hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

Forgot to add, no payment for me thanks. I need no cars, paints or parts at the moment.

Also, is it Adrenalin Junkie or Rotary Junkie that I'm looking for?

Guess you get to let them argue over who gets the ticket!
Rotary Junkie was the actual tuner but he currently has no PS3. Adrenaline was his test driver and special advisor...so guess it goes to show what happens when a couple of the tuning forums top dawgs decide to work together.:D

Ok, I'll sort it out. Thanks.

Yeah, it shows that they still get beaten by Integra's & Celica's.

Congrats to all involved and roj, nyah nyah, I beat you!! :P

Adrenaline is responsible for most of the gearing (my theory, his application) and basically told me what the car was doing when we did xyz things to it.

I won't say the car would've necessarily been better without doing it this way but I know it would've been different, mainly in the gearing department. More LSD work may have gotten done with me doing all testing but then I can't push a car hard enough around GVS to satisfy the aliens.

And I can't say I would've been able to beat the Trials, though not for lack of trying and not for lack of pushing the car's capabilities; more for the sheer lap time advantage they have (Adrenaline drove one on default just as fast or slightly faster than our car ever ran in his hands). Thus is why I prefer the "old" rules from the GT4 era but 'tis a moot point.

Ah well. I pride myself on my FWD track tunes so a loss here is a bit painful but ah well. Good showing for all of you, particularly Praiano as he was the only one with a faster car that didn't start faster than my car ended.

Edit: Oh and Mafs... You might've beaten Roj but I told you I'd smack you. :D You should know you can't beat my FWDs. :mischievous:

Fixed! :P

Of course you were going to and I agreed with you right from the get go but I wasn't going without a fight and hence my announcement, right at the start that I was bringing in the lowest powered cars of the lot and that was true....my Civic was the only one without a turbo, while the Eclipse & the Accord were detuned that much I might aswell have chopped their gonads off!! Mind you, I've actually bought a new Accord & Eclipse to retune them specifically for 500PP without detuning and seeing what I can get with them. 👍

Congrats on winning Driver's choice though bro, to people like us, that award was more important. 👍

The car you entered couldn't have really placed any better, without worse ITR tunes, you both should be very pleased with the car you co-developed.

See? It's that damn Volvo!

I have to ask now, to the drivers,
"What shift points did you guys use for the Volvo C-30 R"?
