im not a fanboy
are there many tuners out for this? im very interested in joining this scene, are there any tips or tricks to tuning for it? ive just been playing with tunnel tunes so far and had medium success

There aren't many actual tuners who post settings on here, but from what I know, the scene is quite considerable one. I seem to remember there being a Wangan tournament here sometime ago…should still be around.

Edit: 'ere you go.

Oh, as for actual tricks…a friend of mine wrote this up. Since he posted it publicly the first time round, there shouldn't be a problem with me re-posting it this time round.

Here's a tip mate, take it or leave it.

I usually put the tranny a bit wide at 400 km/h or something top speed for the cars that usually go to 320-350 km/h. I move the first gear all the way to the left like in usual tranny tuning, the second to the left too (but sometimes I don't really put it as fully left), but here's the crucial part. Gears 3 and 4 will be somewhere at the middle and gear 5 should NOT be ratio'ed to the right since you're gonna need a crapload of speed for drafting. In short, gears 3-5 should be at the middle of some sort. But not all should be right in the middle. Just like tranny tuning for circuits, they need to follow the same pattern. So 3 a bit to the left, 4 in the middle, 5 a tad higher than 4. If the car has 6 or 7 gears, then the same pattern will work, but you have to space the gears to fit the number of gears.

that's from long ago, you. :P

right now, I just tune transmissions semi-drag racing style. Final drive to the highest, and then top speed to the lowest, try to set the first gear for a decent launch and tune the last gear with some extra room for drafting, and then lower the final drive for a suitable top speed. As for LSD and suspension settings, I use grip racing settings for SSR7 and drag racing settings for SSRX. Though that old technique may work too, but I ain't sure.

TheCardboardBox tuning thread has a few wangan tunes you could try

If they dont meet your needs I'd recomend asking jc18137 for help, he has some realy fast wangan tunes and I belive he was the winner of that tournament Onboy123 linked.

It's one of the Black Editions, yes.. I've dedicated one for speed and one for handling. To my disappointment I noticed that it can't do both on same setup. :(

Just transfer the gearbox over…? Or are you using epic high negative toe again which supposedly slows you down?

I'm not looking for a specific tune but rather help on tuning myself. Nothing's more satisfying then thumping the opposition with your own weapon.

Thanks to everyone for the useful help :)

No.. The full power of the Black Edition just doesn't want to be delivered to the road without turning the tyres into smoke, even less so if there's cornering involved.

Well, well...

Wangan tunes aren't simple. You can go for maximum speed or maximum acceleration.
There are a very few cars our there that allow you to have both, the Toyota Supra is one.
It also depends on your driving style. Whether you're the type to stay in your lane or go by the racing line. All these details should be taken into account when spacing your top 3 gears. Which would affect how tight your turning circle is.
Also, some people run their last gear solely for drafting.

LSD doesn't vary much from circuit tunes, unless the car is 4WD.
Suspension varies by car and drivetrain. You want to go for maximum stability and traction while cornering at speeds in excess of 220mph.

I'm the founder and manager of the aforementioned Wangan Tournament. As well as the predominant Wangan tuning thread gee on GTP. If you've not the type to take a tune altogether, feel free to try out out setups and change them to your liking and personal preference. You might find something that suits your style.
