War Thunder (F2P Air/Ground combat MMO)

Some of the Warthunder you tubers I follow are the Mighty Jingles and Krebs. Both are arcade players but they do share some great tips. The Mighty Jingles talks about the history of the tanks and planes but does a great job with them while Krebs is all about the action and shares how he takes out other players. I would take a look at them if you want to learn something.

Jingles is more world of tanks than anything else but I am subscribed to him. Also subscribed to MagzTV, SquireFlyer, PhlyDaily, and Baron.

Magz is very useful for learning how to fly various aircraft but doesn't do much with ground forces.

I've seen some of PhlyDaily and Baron but can't seem to get into their commentary but I do like Phly's Top 5 Epic Plays though. I haven't watch Magz or SquireFlyer though.

Mags is very informative, Squire is very lighthearted.

Phlydaily and Baron do live commentary which is why their videos are different.

Ok maybe sometime I'll have to take a look at them but I have quite a few other you tubers I follow and don't have much time to watch livestreams. The few I watch are the ones I enjoy watching and seeing what they have to say. Sometime this week I'll hop on Warthunder and play a few rounds of ground forces.

Live commentary as in they are recording and talking about the gameplay at the same time, not dissecting it after playing the round..

It's not a live stream if that's what you were thinking.

With live streaming is when they are recording and playing at the same time like on twitch but the videos that are posted on youtube are captured from either a live stream and talking about how they went about it or talking about the vehicle they are using.

New ground forces location: Finland, and it's the first winter map.
http://warthunder.com/en/devblog/current/786

On the War Thunder social media pages, they're going to be revealing new vehicles for 1.51. First one is the Neuebaufahrzeug https://twitter.com/WarThunderEN/status/612265802641879040. Also confirmation of the Super Hellcat, Leopard I and T-10 being added.

Edit: Leopard I. https://twitter.com/WarThunderEN/status/612327421543641089

Nice, a Winter map, should be fun. Anything special (or interesting) one should know about those new vehicles? Or are they just additional stuff and nothing more?

T-10M and Leopard I will be the top tier tanks and be in battles with the M103 and IS-3.

Neuebaufahrzeug was the first heavy tank prototype for the Germans, only 5 made. One of those multi-turreted designs like the M3 Lee, and T-35.

Super Hellcat is the M18 with a 90mm cannon from the M36 Jackson on it.

Looks like the Finland map has ice surfaces that can be broken by the weight of tanks and artillery/bombs. Might make for some interesting gameplay.

They'll be unveiling more vehicles tomorrow through their social media profiles as well. Looks like it's a new way of releasing devblog articles for them.

Hmm... Thanks for that. So, in essence, a lot of top tier tanks, and another M18, with about 90(mm cannon) reasons to fear it. Guess I won't be touching those for a long while, since I'm still trying to get out of the rank II tanks... Still, I'm sure that the top players will find good uses for those heavy tanks.

The map should be interesting with all the "ice surface" gimmicks, at least it won't have many camping points if that is to happen. You'll have to be on the move often to avoid sinking to death...

The Neuebaufahrzeug will be an early tier tank, probably around BR 2.0. I'd expect more top tier tanks as they're going to start adding more Cold War era tanks up to whatever year that they're extending the cutoff for those.

So expect more big and powerful Cold War tanks for the future, right? On the plus side, beginners will have another German tank to pick if they like. Should be an interesting addition...

Most likely, yes. I think they're putting in ammo types up to 1972, but I'm uncertain if the tanks will go to that year as well. Jets are already at their cutoff because they want to avoid heat-seeking missiles and the jets that used them.

Edit: British tanks are rumored to be coming after the 1.51 patch with a desert map, and the Italian tech tree for planes is supposedly coming at some point as well, which is why they added the BF-109B in the previous patch. They have to add earlier fighters to Germany to make up for losing those Italian planes from their tree.

I see. It would be unfair to add all the futuristic gimmicks such as heat-seeking missiles and such, it would only make things harder to balance.

And the Italian tech tree may become a reality, huh? Interesting, since I do own a few Italian Tier 1 planes, so those would probably carry over to this supposed new tech tree. But yes, there will be the need to add new Reserve/Tier 1 German planes to fill the gap that will be left by the soon-to-be independant Italian planes... And I would like to see those British tanks happen, to be honest.

So that's the Super Hellcat... Another American tank destroyer that will probably be the bane of my existence. The devs sure are focusing on adding more tank destroyers, huh?

Watched some videos of the dev server content. Looks like the M60 and the Leopard are getting the NATO ammunition, as they have the same ammo selection, which means the Leopard isn't getting it's special ammo.
