Anyone know whats a waste of time on gt4? i'll get the ball rolling: saleen s7 cup thingy. if you win you unlock.... the nike car. :grumpy:

ANY cup where you win the car you entered in, just in a special colour. (2CV Cup, MGF Cup, Subaru 360 Cup, etc).

Polyphony Digital Cup, because doing 10 long races in stock cars IS a waste of time.

B-Spec x1 or x2. Why make the most boring thing in the game last even longer?

Test Course races.

Gymkhana. We're not allowed to take pictures, save replays or actually do activities in there why? (License tests not included)

I'll think of more soon.

Agreed on the first, fourth, and fifth points, but if you don't like the PD Cup... do you only own the fastest race cars? A lot of the stock cars are a lot of fun, it's boring always taking a Group C or F1 car around a course. As for B-Spec speeds, it's a double-edged sword; obviously you want it to be done with quickly, but I was personally happy the game reverts to 1x after a pit stop. It was the only way I found out Bob couldn't drive my 787B very well in the Le Mans 24h race, and he had eroded my 1 lap lead into being almost four laps behind. It was half-way through; if it was at 3x, I would've found out I lost the race.

Oh dont get me wrong, I too enjoy driving stock cars, but in a series that long, it does get quite tiresome. I've been through it a few times though, once in a mildly tuned NSX, another in a Lancer Evo 5 that was worth about 40k. If it was only 5 races instead of 10, I would actually remove it from the list.

another thing i can think of is all those endurance races that have the worst car prizes in the world ( exept for 24 hour endurance races )

Im sorry but i think the licenses are a waste of time i mean you only need to do the national b and then you can race but if you've already done all the licenses before i think you shouldnt have to do them again because they're all the same about basic cornering and advanced cornering n how to go fast then stop i think they're useless.

Coffee Breaks. I know they're supposed to break up the licences by giving a little bit of fun each time, but to me they're both frustrating and annoying, especially the maze of cones. Thank the stars you can't get a fail for being too late because most of the time I'm thirty seconds (at least) off a silver medal. You don't get anything for achieving all golds in Coffee Breaks and they don't add to your overall game completion, so they clearly fit the definition of wasting time.

And for the record, I liked the Aston Martin race where you got the gold DB9. But then, I love Astons.

In the future, you can use the edit button to prevent double-posting.

A waste of time would be, for me, Like The Wind. If your car can break 250mph (nothing hard, given that the 300mph club is so large), you win 30k and a car that, while it looks cool, cannot be sold for profit and can only enter limited races because it is a concept.

i have no idea why people go on that the nardo concept car is good when it can hardly be used. i totaly agree

A waste of time was reading this damn thread......

Dunno why but I lol'ed.

I think the oil change and car wash times are a waste of time. Why can't it just do it in 5 seconds, I couldn't care less about the dude who walks up and does everything.

i agree with mafs...and i think jakesmith should look at how many threads he has made, and how many that have got locked on him

Agree with the Aussies.

jakesmith, you really need to calm the hell down on the thread creating and get familiar with the search system. Otherwise, you'll wind up banned very quickly.

nobody uses the search system anymore i think.., or other people are just too lazy to look around.., i mean, most of the threads jakesmith is making have obviously been created and discussed before.., come on man, you already have 5 padlocks with you, that doesn't look too good.., we all highly recommend and suggest you use the search box or just look around..,

don't you boobs ever use the Nike ONE?! it's the only open wheeler that can be used in versus mode, it's tight handling, and can be taken on any rally track (wanna whip through the Grand Canyon course?). play with it in arcade mode for something to do when you wanna just DRIVE.

I don't think that's a typo.

First couple of posts, it's kinda obvious you'll win the same car in that manufacture, because its a manufacturer cup. You aren't going to go into a Toyota Manu. Race and comeout with a Mini or something.

Waste of MY time, Endurances, that' why i used gameshark, made inf gas and tire wear, put on b spec and let it run overnight.

I agree with you. The Nike and the Toyota Triathlon Car make really nice cars to go out and just screw around with...but I wish you could put a racing gearbox on the Nike:grumpy:.

On-topic: B-Spec Mode. I'll probably get flamed for this, but it just feels too much like cheating.

Yeah, if you don't want to do the race yourself, why do it at all. Why do people do the endurances in B-Spec? If it's to get 100% or the FGT, please remember that you didn't really earn either until you race them in A-Spec.

I see nothing wrong with using B-Spec as a co-driver in endurance races. For me that includes the 24 hour races and the 1000km at Fugi. But in order for Bob Lusor to be an effective team member you're going to have to let him drive a variety of cars in many races to build up his skill level.
The only downside I see to this is that you lose any possible points by using B-Spec during the race. But if it's a race that you can possibly win with Bob as a co-driver, then we're not talking many points to begin with.

I actually don't have a problem with B-Spec, and if you use it as a co-driver I see nothing wrong, but when you rely on it for a whole race without controlling it at all, it's pretty pointless. I do actually find it fun to race B-Spec every once in a while in arcade mode, but I actually control him and give him commands, instead of just setting and forgetting.

has anyone ever won gold on those coffee breaks? they are all too hard for me

Yes. I have 85 golds for 80 licences and 5 Coffee Breaks, even though I hate coffee! :yuck:
There are many many more people around here that have exactly the same, most of whom have offered screenshots as proof. This is a recent-ish one from me, which doesn't show coffee break golds, but after 80 proven licence golds, there's really no need to lie about the coffee breaks is there?!!!

what do you unlock for the polyphony digital cup?

@ jakesmith, before you create another "How do I get..." or "Where do I buy..." type thread, download the file below. It'll tell you the name of every car in the game, every race event in the game with race requirements such as tyres or restrictions, the prizemoney you will win, and the prizecars you'll acquire. I'd also suggest printing a hardcopy for easy reference (print the first 25 pages and then reload the paper to print on the reverse and you'll get a 25 page double-sided reference manual with all the races & a complete car list in a nice sized package!) :D

Hope it helps and you'll have a good read of it before contributing more locked threads to the GT4 board. ;)

*grin* some of us don't have the time, patience, or personal endurance to do the LeMans in real time (i wouldn't even do the GT1 enduros). besides, there's more to life than GT...it's called a LIFE...unless your a for life nut. some of us get yelled at after only an HOUR, let alone a 24 at lemans :P mabey if one was a jobless single...

besides, I'm too old to stay up for 36 hours or more, straight. I only did it once, anyway.

If you don't have time to do it, why do it at all? Do you get satisfaction from B-Specing it?
Don't have 24 hours to spare? Don't do that race. Wouldn't you rather do a different race that's shorter and more fun?

I understand if you just want 100%, but even then you could always split it up into sections. PS2s and PS3s can go forever without breaking.
