I'm all for it. 👍
Good luck getting this Series up, I'm looking forward to it. :sly:

I can orginize something, im always around and i got plenty of time on my hands. unless you guys allready got it covered?

I am up for this. seems like a good idea.

i have a few suggestions.

1.we have several drivetrain classes.(ex. FF, FR, MR) and only these classes run agaisnt each other with the exception of a fun run where everyone can post a time no matter what car.

2. Within these classes there is subclasses.
An FR class has a street class where you run on street tires and no weight deductions. There is also a SuperStreet Class where you run slicks and can have weight deduction.

3. We could also do a Turbo and N/A class where only turbo cars run against each other and N/A do the same.

4. We do an actual elimination tree where everyone registers a car they want to use for that week and they will be pooled together and names will be drawn at random. The names drawn will be put heads up and whoever gets the fastest time move to next round.

I also have some free time at night and would be able to help run this.
If needed i can write up some sort of guidelines for the ideas I have if people think it is interesting.

Heck, I'd be up for it. It'd be good for me for the times when the WRS race is something ungodly that I'll never be able to work in between my other 3 commitments (School, girlfriend, WoW BC Expac :dopey: )

I already tried running this for a while.

Obviously there is some interest, (as seen by this thread occasionally being bumped) but probably not enough to run an enduring series.

If, for some crazy reason, this thing does fire up again, please send me a PM. Some of the other posts above had some great ideas, I'd say.:dopey:

Might be a good idea. Let's just hope it doesn't die down this time like it did the last time someone tried to get this giong.

First off, we're going to need someone to actually head this challenge. I'm in college, but tend to have a bit of free time between classes and after class, although to be totally honest, I'd rather not be placed with that much responsibility. I'll pick it up if nobody else wants to, though.

I might be up to do it, depends on how deep all the classes go, if its like what Santo suggested having so many different classes then it might be a little to complex to set up and do for me.

Yeah, like the last time I ran it.

I'd like to help with this anyway I can.

Awesome.

i like to get in on this Drag action too

You're new, but still somebody who is showing interest.

I know if I ran it again there wouldn't be a running scoreboard or division categories or drivetrain classes. I would run it how I used to, with a different kind of car every week. Y'all can check out my past WDS threads if ya like, click on my name and search for 'em.

Yeah, thats how I'd like to do it, not tons of classes, either a set car, or some kind of theme like only 4 cylinders or something. I'd like to have a leaderboard though, I think it would provoke more competition.

Would we have it be something like a weekly drag series, where every week would be a different car/setup? And how would we do the leaderboard? I'd think we'd have to keep track of times or something, and maybe have a setup either like the WRS, or have a setup where you choose your "class" of car, and the best times from there.

I think it would be cool to have it be weekly, with either a certain car, or theme. I'm not really sure how we could do a leaderboard, does the WRS have one? Could you explain the set up the WRS has, I don't participate in those comps because I don't have a maxdrive.

Lets start how it all started, with muscle cars. You guys start shootin what you think the rules for this race should be. As in power, tire, etc. Just NO TCS for this one at the very least.

IMO I don't think it should be limited to only muscle cars, there's only so many. For power it should be unlimited if there is'nt go to be seperate classes, as for tires, S3's for street cars and R1's or R5's for racing cars.

I don't have a Maxdrive either. Any replays I post will be raw .PS2 format (straight rip from the memory card).

I don't know, really, how the setup for the WRS is for the leaderboard, but I do know that they have it sortable, and you can have it sort by any of the split times for the track (assuming it has at least one).

As for rules, I'd agree with no driving aids (not like you really need them - all you're doing is going in a straight line :sly: Although I do think themed runs would be cool.

a little off-topic but, how do get your replays to the computer from your memory card.

The only aids that would help you would be TCS, to keep from spinning to much.

I copy them using a Gameshark.

True, but it'd be a good way to learn throttle control (instead of just random mashing of the gas and brakes :scared:)

A simple leaderboard in Excel is easy to construct and update. The WRS one is a bit more complicated but same idea.

Driving aids were usually optional for me, except for some weeks when I would make it 'illegal' to do so, usually on a hard to control car :)

I guess having no TCS would help show who is truly best at drag racing.

As for absolute best times, some cars really benefit from a touch of it. In some cars, the quickest time will be with TCS. In others, the quickest time will be without it.

Proper throttle pressure and modulation is key though, especially when using nitrous.

Due to continued bumping of this thread, I suppose it is worth it to resurrect this, at least for a starter race, we can see how it goes from there. If anyone objects to me running it, voice your opinion before I create a thread tonight. I will PM all people who have posted in this thread recently. By the way the WDS is not an 'Official GTP Competition' so it will be in the long racing series area.

I say go for it kenny, you ran it once, you'd probably be the best to run it again.👍
