Boost sure is weird in this game. Seemed like it worked based on position rather than distance behind the leader like it did in GT6. My strategy definitely didn’t work because of that

Boost racing does require a different strategy. I use it in the longer races to keep everyone in the game. If you were to have a major incident early on causing a major set back I have found in the past that those players are most likely to just drop out. They do not want to spend 45 minutes to and 1 1/2 turning laps by themselves with no hope of finishing anything other than last. If there were cautions and the field would regroup like in a real race then boost would not be needed but most drivers will just keep on driving away. So I use the boost to replace what the cautions should. Not perfect but best the game has to offer. And to be honest I love boost racing. Keeps the field together. Better racing in my opinion. I love close racing. I passed and got passed many times. Plus I feel it will make you a better driver in traffic. A lot of people are fast but are not very good in traffic. Glad you showed up. Was hoping for a larger turn out but it's all good. See you next time. Might get something going later today since my NASCAR race got postponed until tomorrow.

Glad you had a good time. That was probably the worst race to join us in but at least you saw us at our worst already. That track is so tight with no margin for error. I knew it was going to be a bit rough but that was sort of part of the plan to throw in a wild card race with an unpredictable outcome and it worked. Mixed up the point standings.

It was fun joining you guys for the short time I was there. I'm not sure if I will be doing the whole Wed night Gr.B racing with everyone or not.
However if you go back to doing road cars on Wednesdays I will be ready for the whole season next time.

I am interested in joining you guys on track. My only question is in the OP you have grip reduction and slipstream not on the realistic setting. Is that an oversight in the post or is that what you run? If you run that, just curious as to why. It's not a deterrent by any means.

For this Gr.B league this is what we are running.

Slipstream - Weak

Grip Reduction - Low

We change the regulations a bit from league to league to mix it up and not always the same thing.

I do however mostly run Grip Reduction on Low vs Real. I feel the real settings are really not real. Real is a bit too much and Low is a bit too low. I wish there was a 1-5 scale or something but we got what we got. I have watched all types of real racing (not video game) and you can drop a tire (sometimes all 4) off the track and maintain control of the car. Seems like the Real setting in Gran Turismo is a bit un-real. Dropping a tire causes you to just spin.

Yes but you need to get in the lobby quickly. In the past we always ran a first come first served lobby. But lately we have had some full lobbies and some regulars have not been able to get in causing them to miss a race and points. So this Gr.B league is the first time I am guaranteeing the top 10 a spot each week and the remaining 6 spots as first come first served. I will only ask a person to leave the lobby if a person in the top 10 is trying to get in and the lobby is full. If that happens and it has not happened in the first 3 races then I will ask the person with no points or the person with the lowest points to exit the lobby. This will keep a spot open for those actually trying to win a championship. But I tell everyone to show up if you want to race and not leave the lobby unless asked to do so.

Cool. I was bored and decided to write out all of the BoP figures for Gr. B before picking a car. Here they are in order of HP. I'm surprised at some of these. I will put an icon in front of the numbers to indicate if it was unchanged, increased, or decreased from stock.

Honda NSX // =557HP // =2,866 lbs
Ford Mustang // =549HP // =3,042 lbs
Nissan GT-R // ↓532HP // =2,976 lbs
Ford Focus // ↓527HP // =2,778 lbs
Subaru WRX // =521HP // =2,822 lbs
Audi Quattro // ↓517HP // ↑2,646 lbs
Toyota 86 // =516HP // =2,601 lbs (Why is this left unchanged?)
Peugeot RCZ // =516HP // =2,646 lbs (This too)
Mitsubishi Lancer // ↓516HP // ↑2,870 lbs (Why make it heavier than the other low HP cars?)

It's a shame there's such a disparity between them. I know the lower HP cars are also a lot lighter but how much does that really matter for cornering when they're all 4WD anyway. Maybe some 4WD handle differently? SNAIL is using the Mustang this week at Alsace II and it always wants to rotate when off throttle, it's hard to find the limit. Maybe they're not all like that. I'll try to test some later and let you know what I'm using before Wednesday

You can if you want to. You can race whatever car you want to and you can change your car from week to week if you want. I don't mind if you switch cars from the first race of the night to the second.

I want everyone to use whatever car and whatever settings they need to be the most competitive they can be. Got some fast drivers in here.

For this Gr.B League I pick the closest mid day clear weather time available. We have used day and nights in some of the other leagues.
 
It would be cool to have a later race that gets the rally lights to turn on. You can toggle them on/off from there but other race times if they start off you can't adjust them at all. Just two cents worth :)
