I was stumped for a name for this and was looking at an oriental and car theme and came up with the name above :P It's not easy finding combo names that aint totally corny! ... as you can see by the name I came up with ;) ....... Anyway hope you like the combo's ... Enjoy! 👍

Great cars, Ron. 👍

10 laps in each direction:

Forward; Wedssport: 1'32.030

Reverse; Amemiya: 1'31.609

Total: 3'03.639

Interesting times Neils, I would have thought the weddsport to be faster by a good margin.

Some times from me also ....

Tokyo Forward - Wedssport - 1'29.902
Tokyo Reverse - Amemiya - 1'29.608
Total - 2'59.510

I can see 1'28's are possible in reverse possibly with the amemiya and guaranteed in the Wedssport as it is a bit faster, I expect Ben and Dan to have 1'28 openers in each direction ;)

Updated 👍

My times so lethargic that they border on pathetic . . . but here they are.

Tokyo Forward: Wedsport--1'33.136
Tokyo Reverse: Amemiya Asparadrink--1'33.260

Total time: 1'36.396 (a backmarker for sure)

The only excuse that I have in my defense is my hp is lower, for some reason I can't match horsepower for either car. I go to Arcade mode, select time trail, choose track, select car, go to the tool box to make the changes, and I get:

Celicia:
+20% Power 367 hp
-10 weight 945kg

RE Amemiya:
+20% power 382hp
-10 weight 990 kg

For some reason I can't get 372hp out of the Toyota or 387 out of the RX-7. If you guys are running on the same hp I'll really feel ashamed; if not, I won't pat myself on the back, but it'll make me feel little better.

Also, if you have any racing tips, I'd be more than happy to hear them!

Later.

@Thundercat. I assume from your sig that you are NTSC-NA. I'll check out the HP on my saves. (I'm NTSC-NA also) You could be right. Sometimes there is a small difference in HP between PAL and NTSC. Mr. P the race organizer is PAL, so he would have no way of knowing if there did happen to be a slight difference.

BTW, don't give up on your laps Thundercat. It takes a while to build up speed and confidence at Tokyo with all the walls. :) These 2 cars have an insane amount of grip so you can take the corners at a much higher speed and gear than you would think! 👍 I set gearing at 280KMH for both cars for the short runs I did.....

EDIT: I just looked up the specs in the GTDB. 367 and 382 HP is correct. 372 and 387 is PS. Which the two are equal, so no worries! 👍

Sorry about that guys ... I recently had one of my cards corrupted and had to use a downloaded german supersave which shows the hp in ps :P sorry about any misunderstanding caused 👍

New Amemiya on reverse for me 1'29.379 ... I reckon I might get close to the 1'28 with a few more sessions :)

Since I recently got a Fliptop PS2 with Swapmagic, I have access and a copy of both PAL and NTSC GT4 ;) 👍

:P

Yeah, I'm gonna stay after it, keep attacking the course.
My major problem in the Tokyo Normal course I think is turn 3, that broad multi-apex right hander. I know I'm wasting precious seconds in that turn. I hit it hard and I feel my tires loosing grip--I always have to put 3 or 4 light taps on the brakes to keep the Celica from whipping around on me.
All in all, I'm glad I accepted this challenge and hope to shave at least a second off my times for both Normal and Reverse.

Welcome aboard Thundercat. :)

I'm slow myself so I really can't give you any advices, but at least I can share my T-times. Maybe they can give you some ideas about where to gain time.

Wedssport, Forward,

T1: 13.154
T2: 50.033
Lap: 1'30.924

New total: 3'02.528

I'll get my reverse splits up too, when (if) I improve there.

Sweet times Ron! 👍
I can see getting the Wed close to 1'28, but I don't know how you are getting so low in the RX7..........but of course you have always flown with that car. :)

Will get some laps in tonight and try to get a little better. I might try reversing the order to see if that brings any joy. I definitely know fwd better than rev.

Just wanted to try out reverse for 10 minutes before bed. Suddenly one hour was gone. :D

Reverse, Amemiya:

36.680 (saw a 36.1xx)
1'12.891
1'30.770

Total: 3'01.694

Edited my total for a typo.

Cheers  I think my times will still look insignificant when the front runners get on the track :P

Had a few more laps in the Amemiya and could only take .020 off my time and have a 1'29.359 now :(

Updated Niels and my own reverse times 👍

Sorry I forgot to post my sectors ...

Wedssport - Forward - 13.053 / 49.530 = 1'29.325
Amemiya - Reverse - 35.865 / 1'11.608 = 1'29.359

I will race these again when they have been demoted ;) not much left for me on reverse but have seen a lot thats left on the forward but I just cant get a nice flow at that turn after T1 ... the error rate is embarrassing :P

Looking forward to some more updates 👍

Well, I had about a 30 min go at each direction, both great races 👍

Weddsport - Forward - 13.052/49.233 - 1'28.914
Amemiya - Reverse - 35.793/1'11.489 - 1'29.237

Saw 12.905/49.1 on forward but t2 doesn't really matter too much, it's the double right after that kills me. As for reverse, I doubt I can go much more than .1 or .2 faster, it felt like a pretty good lap. However, I'm not to sure about the lines use in the final section before t2.

Well I tried doing the combo in reverse last night, but couldn't manage to do a better combined time. :indiff: I got a 1'29.7 fwd with the RX7, but then couldn't back it up with the Wed. I really should be able to get lower, but the fast right before the long sweeper in reverse is giving me fits plus the fast left/right just before T2 I'm having a tough time repeating consistently. It's weird. In forward I take that combo in 5th, but in reverse I have to shift to 4th in either car. If I don't I bang the left exit wall every time.

Blazin' laps there Ben. Very Nice! and good to see Tommy putting up a time also. 👍

So, no update from me.........yet. :sly:

I can never resist a race on Tokyo II

1'30.779 in the RX7 so far. I'm coming to get you Neils...

I'll have to go and get me a Wedssport Celica a some point though.

If you have a spare memory card floating around David .... here is a supersave I used the other night as I lost mine due to a corrupted card! anyway this save has all cars and 100% complete and a nice modest 10+ million in the bank to save you the bother of needing any cars in future ;)

GT4 100% / All Cars / 10Million / Supersave.PAL.max

I found it on gt.de and its German but easy to change it to English in the options :)

Maybe of some use anyway

Thanks for that Ron. I've got a 100% uber-save on my other card, but I had the money anyway.

I'm now in the Celica and I've improved my Tokyo II time to 1'30.297. Just to be different. Why is everyone using the RX7 at Tokyo II anyway?

No probs mate 👍

I know Kel has driven her cars in the opposite direction to everyone else like she did at Midfield :P she likes to do it the womans way I suppose ;) still waiting for her updates though ... Kel? :P

1'32.068 in the RX7 at Tokyo forward. I'm nowhere near as good round there as I am at the reverse track.

I'll keep in touch with my feminine side then!

I never meant it like that David :P ... sorry I should have thought about it before I typed it

It was more a stab at *awkward* (*sp) women ;)

I'm just joking with you, lovely boy.

Improved to 1'31.659 RX7 - Tokyo forward.

EDIT: I'm seem to have killed this thread. I took the liberty of adding myself in, Ron. Hope you don't mind.

I just went to update then and saw the work was done :P

so another update from me ...
Wedssport - Forward - 13.034 / 49.338 = 1'29.118

Updated :)
