I hope everyone had a good time with this, seems to have been a good combo.

Good enough to yeild a nice turnout for the weeks participants. I think I counted 24 or so who put in a time this week.

Top honors this week are going to LDM...
Nice run I'm sure. :D
Redline Fox & HareTurtle take their respective division wins.

Congradulations to everyone on division podiums and to all the racers that could just run a clean lap. ;)
Keep up the efforts.

But if you forget the division... don't send me another pm to just tell me your division. :irked:

Hey! I thought LDM sandbagged, and qualified for Division 2? :P

Nice racing everyone. I plead too many races to run and not enough time. ;)

Here's my replay:

Oh, and thanks to LDM and GT3mich for the setup advice and ghost-laps... Without them I was in the 1:12's. 👍 But somehow in the last 30 minutes I managed to find an eggstra 0.5 seconds off the fastest replay sent my way. :D

Damn, I felt I left the door open wide...but not that wide.

One question, to those of you in the 1'08.xxxs. What was your top speed in 6th down the asphalt backstretch?

Congrats all.....

Congratulations on a great lap LDM. 👍

Splits:

7.282
24.153
42.938 Have done 1:08.660 with a 43.556
I know I can get into the 1:08.1xx.

I've jsut ;) run a 42.843, but shifted into 4th prematurely.
Thus, a meager improvement.

Scuderia: 142mph@S/F

My analyzer show's top speed of 145.9 near the end of sector 2.

still getting to know this forum and understanding the format for these races.. but how do you stay in your division week after week? I think GoKents mentioned the possibility of dropping into slower divisions based on some circumstances.

and to the winners... those 1'08 times are insane.

i  to your skills

@rickstar - Kent said no one will be moved down a division unless they request it. You qualified for Division 1.
I wouldn't let this one race get your spirits down... Rally is an abberation in the Weekly Series... Try a few weeks on the Tarmac and see how you do. But if you're comfortable in Division 1, your spot is secure unless you request otherwise. :)
By the way, nice showing for your first Weekly entry, and welcome. 👍

EDIT/ I just double-checked results, and saw you beat GT3mich in a rally race, so you definitely earned your keep this week. :D

2nd EDIT/ In response to next post. You saw some suggestions for Division movement here: http://gtplanet.net/forum/t2-23223.html But most were shot down (and rightfully so ;)) by Kent.

thanks eggman for the info. my bad for mis-quoting gokents. i thought i read somewhere it's possible to get booted down to a slower division if you're not consistently fast.

and unfortunately for you eggman, and the rest of the racers in div 1... I'm not going anywhere ;)

hahahaha jokes

here is my replay its my first posted replay so i dont know if it is good it should be i didnt hit any walls so i think it is clean at least for a rally run i hope so anyway if not someone tell me where so i can check it and see where i messed up

Congrats to ODP and Ryan for the quick runs.

Even when I am good I am bad. Man I suck.

Ryan, For kicks could you email me your setup? Thanks.
Ryan, Never mind. I am an idiot. Thanks.;)

For the record my fastest splits:
7.2xx
23.9xx
42.6xx

I shall go hide now. Good Luck to everyone in their racing endeavors, maybe I will see you around.:)

Some blazing runs there! 👍

My excuse is... I only ran 130km using my own crappy set up :D

Congradulations to those who reached their outrageous goals.....mine started off too conservative which matched my conservative skills in dirt racing.

Could one of these 1:08 guys post their complete settings package including gears, so we can see what we were lacking in that department.

Here were my best splits.....some of them were in the ballpark, but the ballpark moved to another location.

T1=7.263
T2=24.265
T3=43.229

I'm happy with my personal achievement, but it pales in comparision to the Masters. I'm still just a 'grasshopper'.

HIya "EMP": 👍
:D Your Splits were ALL Substantially Quicker than mine, so I would surmise that the transition onto the Tarmac lost you time & your settings which obvoiusly worked well up to T-3 were not the Problem. JMO...UB57 :D

"Congrats All!!!" I far exceed my expectations with this ride the last two days & get a 5th Here and a 4th in the A.R.C. II Series! :irked: :irked: :irked: Think I need to start "Hangin' Out" with a SLOWER Crowd!   ...UB57 :D

Oooooops: :embarrassed: Forgot to Thank Redline Fox for posting settings. 👍 Didn't have a lot of time to run this week & having a "Starting Point" definitely Helped!!!

Yeah, awesome effort this week UB57:tup: .....thanks for upholding 'Grandpa honor'. My grand kids are sending me back to racing school....they are tired of 'old paw' embarassing them.:D

I seemed to get slower toward the last sectors and you most likely are correct about that transition to Tarmac.....

Oh well, this 'dirt racing ' thing is still pretty new to me......this was the closest I felt to getting a handle on it though.:)

Thanx Gt3Emperor:
:D I'd send you my replay, but all you'd see until after T-3 would be my Headlites in your Rearview Mirror!   ...UB57

Half of the top ten were Div 2 drivers! What's up with that? .." .... You guys looking for a promotion?"

Thanks to Kent for a great rally. 👍 Please keep them coming in this Divine 1 to 5 ratio. ;)

Congrats to all of us, who had another fun week.

I knew I could only manage another .3 to .4 seconds, so I'm glad I hung it up when I did last night, a lot of effort wasn't really going to move my results.

My T3 for the lap I submitted was 43.2xx. The fastest I saw was 43.1xx. I know I was capable of 42.9xx

Thanks Redline for posting settings, I was using your setup all the way.

You div 2 guys were really on it this week.

Way to go LDM and ODP for finishing with some great times.

Congrats to all the superfast 1:08 drivers, and to all the finishers.

Thanks to RedlineFox for the excellent settings. 👍

DUDE...I LOVE this way of showing results for a week! Good job! I'd love to see this sorta thing listed weekly too in the results.

:-)

Well............

To be honest this I am a bit shocked this week. I was thinking I was "on it" more than the final results show. I didn't think 1'08.xxxs were possible, at least not LOW ones. BUt did I not say earlier in the week that the winning times would have T3s of 42.7'ish or around that?

I am guilty this week of breaking all 6 rules in my signature. Bad me.....thank god this weekly is just that...weekly and you can put each week behind you and start anew. I got too wrapped up in sector times and lost sight of the bigger race picture. Won't happen again.

So looking at the times and knowing what had to happen in car setup to make those possible I think part of my problem was my car setup. I tuned to the following settings;

Spring Rate 6.0/10.0
Ride Height 160/75
Shock Bound 10/10
Shock ReBound 10/10
Camber 3.0/4.0
Toe Angle 0.0/0.0
Stabaliers 2/5

Brake Balance 1/1

LSD Initial 33/0
LSD Accel 60/0
LSD Decel. 34/0

1st 3.426
2nd 2.379
3rd 1.746
4th 1.380
5th 1.115
6th 0.885

Final 4.805

Auto 26

Downforce 0.74/0.91

So....you can see that I geared the car WAY to high. I was trying to maximize the on dirt uphill sections (you know, right after the T2 line and T3 line) which earlier in the week i identified as the areas to gain time in. This gearing worked for that but I sacrificed top end speed I think. To counter this I set my 6th gear HUGE (in retrospect to the others) which maxed me out at about 146mph right before the turn off onto dirt but I gained those last 12mphs over the line, so i was crossing the like around 134mph.If the front striaght was a bit longer I would have bene fine but as it was I was taking too long to reach top speed. LSD...well I've never run a car with them set any other way that as low as I can get. This week i was playing with them to get "bite", especially out of the turn post the T1 line. I am split if this actually worked or not.

I am going to download some replays from the 1'08.xxx guys and look at their car settings. Without seeing them yet I think that will validate the above. I think my line was spot on for the cours, but like I said, i sacrificed too much top end speed for quick acceleration. I will be in the 1'08.xxxs by the end of this week.

Again I learned alot this week, in car setup and racing mind. It all just makes me a better racer. Learn from your mistakes, right?

:)

Wow, I'm really happy to see that division 2 and 3 guys stepped it up this week, very good times indeed :)

As for me, well, I tried my best on the thing I hate the most:P

A bit of a mistake Emp... cuz I'm already Div 1 ;)

I'm always looking for a promotion Emp. :-)

As promised here are my sector times for the sake of comparison. Also I have included the settings I was running at the time of the fastest lap. The only difference you'll notice is the rear-downforce. Based on my knowledge of FWD and remembering the Escudo wheelie trick, I thought, less downforce on the rear of the car should create more downforce, therefore traction on the front of the Xsara, which is where its drive-wheels are. From what I noticed, this was proven accurate to my real-world knowledge about cars. Though I think I lost a little bit of time in parts of the back section, the decreased downforce gave me more traction for pulling out of the corners, espically the final corner. Of course, this is what I think when the lap times became closer the sector times fluctued more with the adjustments I was trying and in the end I think it just came down to putting together a consistent lap.

Glad my origional chassis settings could help people out, but ODP's gearing is what ultimately gave the most over all speed improvments.👍

Sector/Time
S1 0'05.264
S2 0'03.366
S3 0'04.890
S4 0'03.782
S5 0'05.396
S6 0'07.924
S7 0'04.327
S8 0'03.185
S9 0'04.787
S10 0'04.670
S11 0'04.028
S12 0'04.642
S13 0'07.628
S14 0'04.712

There are the chassis settings that I was running at the time of the fastest lap.

6.3/10.0
110/110
10/8
10/10
1.4/0.5
0.0/0.0
1/1

10/11

5/5/5/
(Gearing provided by ODP)
3.143
2.324
1.800
1.465
1.297
1.135
Final 3.900
Auto 18

Downforce 0.74/0.69

I still find it out that less strength in the rear shock bound seemed to work better then less strength in the front.

Improvements came in very small increments but running the ghost really helps you see where little improvements can be made. Previously I always avoided using my ghost option because it distracted me, now I think I would advocate it for anyone looking to really step up their game.

I didn't expect to get 0wn3d that bad. :P I will admit however that the car never felt right w/ my garbage setup. :P

question. i know this is after the fact, but i never could install ODP's gear ratio settings.

when i set it to Auto18 (the lowest setting), there is no way i can get the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. gear ratios to those specified by ODP.

am I doing something wrong??
