It needs to be broken in most likely. Try driving it for a bunch of laps and the HP will go up.

Tuff said it right. The first 2 sectors went very good, then on one corner i have to go wide and lose time.It is very difficult for me to maintain fast in one lap, lots of restarts.I did even saw a 15.6 once, but had a touch in the next hairpin. This track has to many corners for me. :nervous:

New time for me, it´s getting better every lap :)

15.994 / 1`00.437 / 1´24.627

My T2 suck on this one, but the overall was better. I think that, if i make evrything right i can get to 1`23.3xx.

Thanks Missing Link but your theory is not completly correct.
Actually, your reading of my 'theory' (definitely NOT theory) is not completly correct.

The Missing Link
Those two are 'win only' versions of the car, and will be at 394 Hp with 0 miles.
There are two versions of the car, to you they are identical, to me, they are the 'normal' version (available from the dealer) and the '_ext' version, available from winning. When you win the car, it comes BROKEN-IN already. When you BUY the car from the factory you have to drive it 186.2 miles before getting to 394 Hp (with the mods we are using this week).
Once again, two version, one obtained from winning (pre-broken-in for you), the other obtained from buying it from the dealer (you have to break it in yourself -- drive it to 186.2 miles).

You can get it in all of these colours for the bought version:
Camellia Red
Highlight Silver Metallic
Innocent Blue Mica
Chaste White
Brilliant Black

For the version which you win (like golding the A license tests) these are the two colours:
EVOLV Purple Metallic
Black Mica

This same 'theory' applies to all cars that you can both win and buy. The bought version needs to be driven to 186.2 miles to get 'full' horsepower, whereas the version that you win is already broken-in. In most cases, the winnable version is available in 'hidden' or 'secret' colours, except for race models, which will always have the same race paint.

Just curious, which version of GT3 are you playing on? PAL or NTSC? Considering you're from Brampton, I'd guess NTSC. I'm playing on NTSC, and the RX-8 isn't available to buy from the dealer. The colours you mentioned for the 'bought' version show up in the dealership, but it doesn't have a price. Am I missing something? AFAIK, the only way for me to get an RX-8 is to win it or sharkport it. I don't have my sharkport handy to look for an _ext version.

Also, is the purple evolv paint one of those colours that changes from different angles?

aha... I see where the problem is... well then... the RX-8 is a strange acception to the regular rules... there are two places to win it from then I gather, because otherwise there woudln't be an _ext version, and otherwise, nobody would have to worry about breaking one in. Either way, there are two versions of the car.

Cool. Damn strange, though.

Hey guys, first race at the WRS, I hope my time isn't too bad...

with flat-out's settings (with a harder springs) I manged to get this:

T1: 15.992
T2: 58.474
T3: 1'23.115

I might try to to put in some times before the deadline, but I'm pretty sure that's the best I'll manage.

edit: I forgot to mention that I played with the gears a little to gain speed on that long strait.

I am enjoying watching you 3 fight it out for position though. Good stuff guys. 👍
I'm also enjoying this fight, I just wish it weren't a fight for not being last :grumpy:

@ usernamed : don't trust my name. Being "flat-out" means in no way that I'm fast ;) . I like the fact that you tested my settings but I think you could have just picked random values for each setting and you would have had a similar result.

@ Niels and Sjaak : I already submitted my time since I won't have time tomorrow to run any single lap. I'm rather happy with it btw : it was lap 1 of my second session, and that was what I call a "miracle lap", with my best ever T1 (- 0.4 s), my best ever T2 (-1.1 s) and my best ever T3 (-1.1 sec). I just drove so carefully in the final sector not to waste such times that the total lap time is only 0.7 second faster than my previous best.
I ran about 80 laps this week, and my submitted time is more than 6 seconds faster than my first best lap. So I'm now looking forward to driving on this track again to improve even more

@ Tuff : here are the miracle times for your leaderboard :
T1 = 15.788
T2 = 57.725
T3 = 1'21.983
Lap = (shhhhh! it's a secret that will be revealed tuesday morning)

Been really busy this past week, but I managed to put about an hour in today and here's the best I've gotten so far.
T1: '15.465
T2: '57.099
T3: 1'21.388

damn... I tried tonight to get this going, but my wrist cannot handle the abuse, I'm having troubles with the constant throttle mashing... looks like I'm back on the D/L :(

I turned TCS on and can see another second coming off my time - if I stop hitting the wall on the exit of the final hairpin. My mum thought I'd been shot I screamed so loud when I blew a 1'21.2 lap.

I'm all new here. But GoKents has placed me in Div.3. D'oh!
Here's my times for the couple of days I got on this WRS 80:
T1:15.585
T2:58.150
T3:1:22.790

I enjoyed this race.I really like the sound of the RX-8 ( a bit like the old Alfa Romeo Race Car in GT2 methinks)
Attached MaxDrive replay(zipped)
edit after "Replays are not to be posted until the results are posted" Oops sorry.Removed it!

Whatever you say Missing link but my silver one is a price car with only 10 miles driven so far, changed the oil and it HAS 394 HP!!!!!So the black isn't better!

This car hates me. After about an hour of lapping this morning, I still couldn't break into the 1'21 region. Time submitted, and right now I'm looking at the bottom of the Div 1 times for this week. I pray that next week will be better for me...

Great times, flat-out. 👍 Guess you'll beat me again again. :ill:

I got a new lap with:
15.947
58.402
1'22.834

Also with a rotten finish. Not due to nerves, but to bad driving. :D I'll give it one last shot tonight, but I seriously doubt it will give much.

Welcome to the WRS, markprichard. :) Hope you will enjoy it.

Yeah me to,my T2 is a low 1:04 :yuck: 👎

@Kent:Really looking forward what brings up tomorrow :dopey:

So what's happening with regards to submissions now? Are we still allowed to submit a time since the site went down before the deadline?

My sectors are:

0'15.397
0'56.548
1'20.201

Can anyone explain the phenomenon of the different times given between the load replay screen and when you actually cross the finish line in the replay. In the actual replay my time is faster. In data logger too, the time is different (quicker) than the saved file on the memory card.

Is this an error in the game?

Kent will deal with the submission when he's back on the ship.

Concerning the times however, the race and live replay will give the same split times. Saved replays will give different times because the PS2 only displays a limited number of frames per second (never remember if it's 30 or 50).

During the race, the timer starts and stops at the exact moment when the car passes the line.
However, the replay is saved as a series of frames : when the timer starts on the first frame, the car has already passed the line by a few feet and the timing is less accurate (lower).

Tradition requires us to post the split times from the replay (since they can be checked) but the total time of the real race, as indicated on the mem card (which is always the highest of the two, as you noticed).

BTW, a search would have helped, since this has been covered many times already.

Thanks for the explanation flat-out. I did do a search but to no avail.
Take a look here, that's written by native english speakers so it's probably easier to understand than my frenchman's explanation.

Your English is very good. A lot better than my French anyway. I don't remember much apart from tu me manques deja (spl?). I used to say it to the French teacher since she loved me so much! Does it mean "I miss you already" or something similar?

Christ, I don't even know for sure.

Thanks for the link. Clarified a few more thoughts I had.

I submitted my time before GTP was so cruely torn away from us, I think I got down to 1'21.3 or so, I'll have to go check.

That's the exact translation. (you should write "déjà") You're ready to have a french girlfriend leaving you

I actually had a time sent to me at GTP.org by Michael K - because he won't be around until Sunday. Sadly, I can't access the forums there anymore, so his time is lost to oblivion. I can remember the ballpark time, but not the tenths/hundredths/thousandths.

Bugger.

Open your browser in "not connected mode" (or whatever it's named in english), you should see the page in the history window if you didn't switch off your browser cache option.

I will still take times for week 80 for the next 12 hours. (12 hours from the time of this post)

After that nothing will be accepted.

Also, plan on seeing the results before our next race is posted and shortly following the 12 deadline above.

Good luck, and remember to get those times in to me asap.

Week 81 will be posted at 12am tueday (my time).
Until then,
Catch you all later. :D
