Final laptime is only 0.3 faster.
But it looks good on the leaderboard :)

18.5 / 49.4 with a crap last sector :yuck:

I'm really not enjoying this week at all. I've never like rome much, too many blind corners, especially in reverse and 9 out of 10 laps end up getting bounced into a wall by the big curbs. Some weeks are fun to whittle away at tenth by tenth, but this week just feels like banging my head against a wall.

Tanis or Tomski, what's your strategy for getting through the blind right at the top of the hill after the back straight? I'm having trouble deciding where and how much to brake to keep off the wall. The best I seem to be able to come up with is to just tap the brakes before turning in, and try not to get bounced by the inside curb.

OK, 15 more laps and I finally got a good one. This is probably it for me, I'm sure I could do a little better but, hey it's not like there's money on the line here. :)

Here's a question for you...how come when you view a replay the T time and lap time appears as somewhat faster than what it actually is? On my best lap it was -.032 quicker at every split and the end of the lap on the replay screen...kinda strange.

Anyway...

T1 - 18.608
T2 - 50.088

Never read the GTPInsider track day tips, Luxy? :D

a bit of a disappointment, putting down new T's just after Thurzo's post:

But after 7 more laps (now on 18 laps in 2 sessions)

18.889
51.066

Question @ the div1 drivers :

How many laps in general do you do per session and how many sessions a week?

So that I know how much time to invest to become quicker....

:ouch:

edit:
18 more laps and time submitted (ran total of +/- 40 laps)

Never read the GTPInsider track day tips, Luxy? :D

Oh yeah, I do remember reading that awhile back (nice write, btw) but I have no memory :dunce: Thanks for the link again :)

Anyway, finally made some progress:

18.5 / 49.2 with a decent last sector. This is probably it for me, but I'm gonna hold off on submitting for the moment.

Here's how I'm approaching the last sector, it's a bit different from the way Famine described it:
Full-throttle out of the hairpin and through the left kink (obviously) then braking down to third, and turn in just about where the roundish shadow meets the guardral on the left (not hitting the first apex very tightly). Make sure the car goes all the way out to the guardrail between the two apexes. Once the car stops drifting toward the guardrail, full on the gas, shifting up to 4th at or just before the second apex. The key is to get on the gas early and stay on it. Ideally, the whole thing (from turn in at the first apex throught the exit of the second apex) is one smooth arc. I'm usually not too close to the left guardrail on exit .. if you're hitting it, you're hitting the second apex too early. Then full on the gas through the finish :)

@k2racer I usually run between 5-10 hours a week. I ran a couple of hours earlier this week, and about 6 hours between yesterday and today. I've raced more this week than I usually do. When I was starting out, there were some weeks where I ran closer to 15 hours :scared:

Well, no time on track this week for me. School, BurnOut 3 and Richard Burns rally are taking all my time :D Well, see you (hopefully) next week!

Right now I can't see much more time out there, but I'm giving it one last desperate try tomorrow. :dopey:

Wow, finding buckets of time everywhere at the mo...

One T2 time was 49.296, but I think that run has the tinyest of touches, as when I go into data logger and replay section 9 at slow speed, when I hit the rumble strip I lose about 4km/h, so although it doesn't look as though I hit, I must... :(

Another run with T2 of 49.550 has the same kind of reduction in speed in section 10 as I get very close to the armco, so I think that's definitely a touch, :( , that run is only 0.025 from the other run above...

Both runs only made with a T1 of 18.550+...

I string one together soon, hopefully...

Time submitted.

Best T's were 18.294 & 49.274. Unfortunately they were on two separate runs, and thanks to Luxy both confirmed to have a minute touch. :(

Thanks for that Luxy. :)

Submitted time not quite as quick.

Time submitted. Never got back to this, so it will be the usual Monday night message: No improvements.

See you next week. :)

I've been running this off and on today. Need to sit down and really go after it as I see a lot more time. I ran 5 tenths behind my best clean lap T2 today and still finished .002 slower over-all. In other words, my last sector on my clean lap sucks.

O-well, if my car keeps pissin me off (working on my RL car today), I might get more time in on this. :dopey:

Leaderboard is current to this post.

Time Submitted. Sadly I didn't have much time at this combo at all (only put about 30mins in) and didn't reach my personal target.

18.317
49.467

Quite a frustrating track to get a decent lap time on too. I know I can go faster but I just don't have time to improve! That middle section is tricky when you're on limit though! 👍

See you all next race.

I had a chance to work on this all day off and on. I saw as low as 49.2xx at T2, but never a clean one. I also have a save that is 2 tenths faster overall, but there is a close call that might be a touch.

Time submitted:
18.479 / 49.727

See everyone at next weeks race! 👍
