Reading the 2 posts above I thought I might add a little something.
With the DFP (a wheel) you have much better throttle control and won't require as much or any TCS in almost every instance.
I really think a wheel is faster... IF you can drive one. It lets you be smoother and have more control over both brake and gas.
That being said, MrP and many others have shown time and time again that at their level, it makes very little difference and they have truly mastered the DS2.

All depends on whether they're using the d-pad or analog sticks, I don't know many that use BOTH analog sticks, it's usually analog steering/d-pad accelerate and brake...

The wheel does give you better control especially in the sweeper like corners, but I found it quite differcult to keep the car straight with the wheel with GT3 (as opposed to GT4P where it's not-a-problem)...

And when they're using the wheel, what view are they using???

Personally, in WRS stuff I'm using d-pad/AT in the view behind car, but when playing I normally go in-car, unless I need to really push the lap times...

When I use the wheel it's almost always inside the car, I use AT to practice the track abit then go MT, depends on what track too though...

for me it's a DS2, both analog sticks, and the chase view. Hoping to get a DFP for xmas :D

I agree with the second part, Patrick. But you earlier want TCS on when driving with a wheel than when using the DS2 (d-pad, hardly tried analogue sticks). You'll lose the back much easier with the wheel (when you've got it on sim mode). I think that the DS2, even with aids off, has a sort of in-build tcs and/or lsd. It's very hard to lose the back of the car with the DS2, because the wheels spin less than with the wheel and ofcourse you can countersteer faster with the d-pad.

I used the DS2 for 2,5 years and switched to a DFP about half a year ago, and the difference in grip is what noticed me the most. Throttle control wasn't really a problem with the DS2, as the buttons are pressure sensitive. Steering smooth with the DS2 is another story. When you steer right, you instantly reach the max possible angle of the wheels. This results in a more direct handling, but also earlier in understeer when you're driving on the limit. On a track like AH a wheel is significantly faster.

In the end the talent of the driver is the most important, but I believe a talented driver can use more of his skills using a (good) wheel. If you don't have enough talent, a wheel is only more fun :dopey:

I always use in-car view now. I used to drive with the view behind the car, just to see the car. I didn't really bother about going fast then. With in-car view I can drive more precise.

One quick question. What do I use to view the replay files (.xps if memory serves) when I open them instead of downloading them?

I don't know of a way to view .xps files on your pc, however, with a sharkport/xport you can download the file to your mem card and view them on the ps2.

On that note.

I want to apologize for not posting my replay yet.
A few days ago I bought Ace Combat 5 and it has taken up all my ps2 time. :D

Sure enough I will get the replay loaded, its just a matter of when. :scared:

Hopefully soon, but in any case,
Until next time,

Like an elephant, I never forget. :D

Better late than never some might say, but here it is.
My replay.
