SF was a fun challenge. Took me a few attempts, but eventually won by 5/10ths.
It's kinda tricky cuz some runs saw P1 and P2 pull away cuz they kept giving each other a tow, while I was stuck in P3 3-4s back and not enough P2P and laps to really close in... while in other runs, I was able to get right onto the P1-P3 tow train. I went with a stock setup on the SF19 but changed the anti-lag to Strong.

nice livery....

I was more than suprised, that I finished this race at 2nd place in my very first attempt...
But to be honest, I must admit, that I turned the difficulty down to "easy" before that race...(but I am still happy...last time we had a SF race I wasn't able to even get close to the top 5 on "easy"...)
I just tried on normal (was on hard before) and it's even worse 'cause now AI is even more unpredictable and also quite slow through the esses, so even more chances for crashing.

Just to clarify, my goal wasn't winning (I'm sure I could, but no point, I don't need the credits anymore), my goal was winning clean. (And I don't mean the CRB, I really mean clean, so absolutely no contact with opponents)
This event gave me anxiety and made me angry. And the more I try the more angry and nervous I get. When you're popping three Xanax just to calm down, there's something wrong. I'm not having fun and that's why I'm stopping here.
I'm not the best driver/player, I'm not the worst one but it looks like I'm just not good enough for realistic, clean racing, especially in fast cars with lots of down force. And while I do blame this on myself, I guess the rather unpredictable AI and the rubber banding in this game doesn't help either. Anyway, it is as it is and sometimes you just have to accept you're not good enough at something.

or you need to practice more but you are ok with not trying because you don't have fun doing so
That's right. I will practice more. I'm playing GT7 for quite some time now and I had a lot of fun with collecting and driving all those cars. So far I did mostly just drive, but not really race much. And most races I did I didn't take seriously. Just trying to win, no matter how. But now I want to learn to race clean and I already did quite a few custom races lately with rather lower powered cars, like MX-5 and Gr.4 cars. Looks like I'm just not ready yet for SF and that's ok. Nobody starts his racing career IRL in cars like this. And I just don't need the pressure to win this event on the last day. Guess we can always recreate this event as a custom race, although I guess that AI in this special event isn't using stock tires.

Which brings me to another point: Why can PD create races with choice of tires for AI but we can't?

SF and other very fast and very downforcy cars are always difficult to adapt for me, I am more used to drive pimped road cars and semi-racing cars, and I even drive more oldies than those superfast cars. Everything seems to happen at time speed x2 and the cornering is from out of space.

Speaking of which... I need to do that last weekly event before tomorrow...

To get the SF race done, I'l admit I cheated: I set the difficulty to EASY. And easy it was. After 3 laps I was in the lead, and managed to lap everyone up to 9th... I'm awful with SF cars, so I just decided to get it done and dusted and move on.

Hm.. SF race on Hard tires didn't work... 15th place on Normal... :embarrassed:, I had Fully Custom Transmission (I don't know why, a bit pointless in a Super Formula car  ), maybe one of the reason for low score, going again, stock setup on Normal and see what happens.

Edit.

Doing much better on Soft tires, 12th place after 3 laps, but will the tires hold the whole race... :scared: Nope, Soft gone after 12-13 laps, Medium is the way to go, I imagine. :scared:

Edit.

Medium did the trick, won with 7 sec. :)

I tried both on the SF23, stock transmission and racing transmission set to 330 and 340km/h and it didn't make much difference for me tbh.

But changing some values for suspension and LSD indeed helped with the slower corners. I used those settings:

Picked and dressed. I have a feeling the Camaro and Dino are going to need some modifications to be competitive. Haven't driven the Aqua since I started the game with it -- practically a first-time drive, right? First time in all the other, anyways.

I'm one car away from completing the entire collection. Something tells me the chances are pretty slim that I'll get it from the roulette ticket. Still, the race payouts and 150,000 Cr ticket should give me enough to buy it. After that I can stop caring about credits. Happy days!

Cars I'm considering for these races:

  • Suzuki Swift
  • Either the AMG GT-R or the AMG Black Series
  • Shelby GT350R
  • Lexus LF LC Vision GT
  • Ferrari FXX K

Get ready to reveal the next batch of events for us PD. I must start the WTC900 event for my 750,000. I'm a procrastinator.

@RACECAR Where do I acquire the Ferrari FXX K car? In the legend dealership?

It's in Brand Central. You need an invite to buy it though.

Also, no car newer then 2000 is ever in Legends Dealership

That's how different skill levels are...

Even on easy difficulty I only cachted up with the top 3 cars in the final lap...
(but I really don't enjoy SF races...right know I spend most of my GT driving time running custom championships with sub 500PP cars on CM tires...so driving a SF car is a completely different game for me...)

Tried the SF race, with SF19 and RM. After a few laps to adapts and butcher some turns, a few more to go through the moving chicanes (been too close in CoD, it ended bad...), I managed to close the gap to third and pass him. Job done ! In normal difficulty.

Did not used overtake, I don't know what button I am supposed to push 🤣

I should be able to win now that I have more pace and more experience but I have enough GT7 for today.
