Weekly Challenge Discussion Thread

It is, but to reiterate the only known cause is changing time zones on your console (or logging into a console set to a different time zone).

We flagged the initial bug with Daily Workout mileage being affected by daylight savings:

This was fixed, so that automatic changes didn't affect things, but manual ones still do. When the same thing happened with Weekly Challenges, it seemed familiar...

We spent ages on it, and I was chatting with someone relevant on the PD side about it, and were never able to recreate it except by changing time zones. That caused it 100% of the time - and while open to the fact that it may not be 100% of the cause we've never found another one. Yes, not even the "playing over midnight" one; I've personally tested this one three times without issue.

Everyone who's subsequently encountered it and asked on the forums about it has confirmed a time zone change. Some have logged into a friend's console, some bought a new console and had the zone wrong, some took their console to a different country on holiday or a break, some just manually changed it because they wanted to see the Weekly Challenges early, but all have had a time zone change.

If you say you haven't, I have little choice but to believe you but it would be a unique circumstance. Since they switched it from Wednesday evenings to Thursdays there's not been a single report of it not accompanied by some kind of timezone change.
Cheers for the reply and trying to help.

I only play on my consol, only play on GT7 and I only really log in and play the weekly challenges or when there's an update.

I've deffinatly not changed the time zones and the only things different I have done is purchase a ps5 at Xmas (I was on a ps4 since launch) but I have played 2 weekly challenges without a problem since I set it up and the only other thing different is I started last week's challenge late, which I don't normaly do and I remember thinking will I still get my reward if I run over the deadline which I did.

Hopefully it's just one of them things and it'll be back to normal Friday.

Thanks again for your advice.

This has been mentioned a couple of times before. The people are finishing the previous week's challenges when it becomes midnight and the new week's challenges begin. They receive the rewards for that week but not for the new week. This seems to be a reason for not getting the rewards. It will probably last another week.

Definitely not a cause:

I only had one time where the glitch got me and I mentioned it in this post:

No time zone change, no logging in anywhere else, nothing other than playing one night, getting the ticket, then playing the next night and not getting the ticket.

Looks like it affected my second account as well on the following week. Again, not sure why:

Then it just corrected itself the next week:

What can you do? Can't really explain what I did to have the ticket glitch happen on my console, but it was only for a couple weeks. That was a year ago and I honestly don't even think about it today. It's just fake money, or fake parts, or fake cars that you lose out on.

Managed to complete the set tonight on a single sitting, early part of the week was once again filled with sleep deprivation. Go figure. As usual all races ran in Medium difficulty.

The basically tuned Swift Sport ZC31S returned for the JPN FF 450, passing the same coloured younger sister at the end of lap 2. Fun little car, even irl.

Another return, the stock Imolarot E46 M3 in what was almost a one-make E46 M3 race. Managed to overtake Lopez in the M4 at the last lap, super fun race.

Yet another one that comes back, the SCPD was once again tasked with ending some street race. And they also had a budget reduction which means, no more aero pack on the squad car. This made it super vicious, but with all that power at 700pp and RH tires somehow still managed to win.

Fourth race with an already used car this time. This one could be one of the best cars in the game, if not for a couple defects: 1) no cockpit view 2) not possible to tune the aero, which means it's an understeer queen 3) it's one of the ugliest designs in the game. If this had the looks of the Jaguar VGT, a cockpit view and if I could add some front aero this would be my favourite VGT. Instead, I hate it. Wonderful traction when exiting slow corners though, left in the dust even the Porsche VGT.

My first event with a first drive this week. No power upgrades on this F40 but it does have RM tires and racing brakes and pads, a little short of 680pp. Managed to catch up to the F8 in the lead at the very end of the race, it was amazing. Best Ferrari Circuit Challenge of the game, hands down.

The car ticket gave me a 2018 Nismo GT3, somewhat of a duplicate as I have the movie one, but I'll keep it.

When this week's challenge came out, I saw @RACECAR frustration with the Ferrari event on hard difficulty. Not needing this (too old) I dropped to normal and got it over with.
Today I revisited the event on hard difficulty. Here are the cars I was able to win with, fastest to slowest.
F12berlinetta
430 Scuderia
458 Italia
All cars had @praiano63 tunes.
I tried the F40 but I finished 4th 3.5 seconds behind 2-F8's and the LaFerrari.
It would win in the hands of a better driver or at least someone with better vision than me! What braking point?, where is the apex? 😂

Finished 11th with a stock F12. Added full ballast to the LaFerrari with its standard SM and grabbed the lead at the end of Lap 7. That tuned F40 held me up just a bit on Lap 4.
Got a Gr.1 LM55 for the 6*. Sold that and bought a TS030 for the top Liked cars “Suggestion Collection”.

Let’s see what the next set brings.
Edit: 🤔

Word of Warning about Race 4
The AI is VERY fast here on Hard difficulty. Everyone driving stock stock / lightly modified cars / cars below the hard 600PP limit will struggle.

  • The Haywood Hurican is cursed, cannot corner, but will obliterate you and everyone else on the straightaways
  • If Kokubun's RX7 or Blazsán's Porsche 996 GT3 start in the top 3, you will spend the entire race trying to catch them
  • All other opponents are moving chicanes, but extra, EXTRA obnoxious about it
  • You need lap times of 2:07 or faster for a 1st place finish
  • Overpowered PP system breaking tunes / engine swapped cars recommended

Praiano's (bless him) Mustang Boss has more than enough power and grip to win, and is relatively easy to drive - you may need to tweak the tune a bit to get it to work with the recent updates

The LS7 V8 swapped Mazda Roadster / Miata is also super fast and handles its power freakishly well

The V8 Volvo 240 Drift Brick is also dominant, but hard to drive

What will I drive?

K20 Swapped Abarth 595, because I hate the AI here almost as much as I hate myself

I've never been successful with this WTC600, can anyone please be kind and point me the best car for this and if specific tuning is needed. mind you i do not like the idea of wall riding as i have seen many of YT videos saying it is the way to win.

Good God ,I don't think I've placed 1st or podiumed in that WTC600. I'll check later when I play. If I haven't podiumed, I'm skipping it. lol

Here's my exquisite choice of cars for tomorrow's races. Not sure about my decisions, especially the Dino might serve me a hard time.

Looking forward to the Mangusta's mighty Ford engine ...
