Weekly Drag Series Week 4 + Results

Speed_freak, you are now entered :)

1989therat, you posted the time for week 5 in the wrong thread - I wrote it down though. However if you want to do the tournament, you have to run the Buick Special as specified in the first post of this thread and post a time here :)

I have not received any more.

You're about to...

I'm down to 11.450 (Don't enter that!)

Cause my brother is at 11.243 and I'm sure I can beat him! (But he's not gonna enter WDS, he has enough on his hands with WRS)

I on the other hand have all the time in the world...I own my car, and my rent is paid up for a year, so I just work part time so I can play games! ;)

Mucking with the settings...

[edit]

Wahoo!

10.948

Just a few more adjustments...

[edit]

10.879 !!! 3rd overall if I would have entered back in week 4 :banghead:

I'm almost willing to post that as my official tournament entry, but not yet ;)

[edit]

10.744 - Gotcha Kenny! Don't know if I'll make it down to that 10.5 though....

Great time! You should be tough competition.

At least I'm no longer paired with BCDSM, you are :P

Oh man! That means if I lost to him I'm out - even if I've got a time that beats every other racer right?

🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead:

See when I ran track and field in high school there was a 'qual time' that if you beat that time, even if you came in 4th in your heat you still made it to the next round - conversely, even if you DIDN'T beat that time but came in 1st in your heat, you still made it.

No chance of that happening is there?

🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: 🤬 :banghead: !!!!!!!!!!!!

I figured the system of going against who you are closest to in the standings would be fairest to everyone in general. I mean I would be sorely disappointed and annoyed if I was the slowest guy and for the first round I go against the top dog. This way we all have a chance to at least win 1 round. Don't cut yourself short - he can be beaten :P

Alright then, but NEXT time - if you run another tourney - how about double-elimination so that you get a chance to get a podium in the tourney cause you really are the 2nd or 3rd fastest racer instead of being eliminated in the first round? (not that I will be, but I'd say the chances are good) Not arguing with your rules this time, honest (don't want to be the Johnny-come-lately-let's-change-everything), I've just had a lot of experience with bracketing systems like this and single elimination is hardcore and IMHO doesn't accurately represent the field of players when all is said and done. (unless you started with 400 people and have already narrowed the field via double-elimination - know what I mean?)

Meaning I'm going to be sorely dissapointed and annoyed if I AM eliminated in the 1st round but knew I should have been 2nd or 3rd overall ;) - no worries though mate.

You are right about being paired against the closest rival though - I agree with that (never undestood the NCAA basketball thing where #16 is against #1 - how unfair is that?)

In any event, I'm looking forward to the tourney. Thanks for taking the time to run this.

No worries. This is more or less us attempting to get the WDS some notice. I've set up the races and sent them to Kenny to be checked out by him.

Everyone knew the tourney would be small since it's only week 6 now, so we decided on a single elimination to go through this faster. I now have a much deeper respect for everyone who creates the combinations for races like the WRS and WDS. Many of the races I thought up sounded good until I tested them and one car outran the other by seconds.

Well you see what's happening this week in WRS - just about *everybody* is using the RX7 Spirit, there's a few folks using the Bathurst and I think I saw an RX8 Concept on the leaderboard, but I'll bet every podium in all 3 divisions has a driver behind the wheel of a Spirit.

Personally I think every race should be in the same car, then it comes down to the driver and tuning - without strict rules to even out the cars (like in real life F1 and Nascar) it's too easy for one car to outrun another in GT4 (unless like in week 16 of WRS when they added ballast).

Don't know how you'll do that in WDS as (I would assume) most everybody is gonna drop 200 in their tail to get the traction, you might restrict ballast though...

That's just how I see it though ;) - I'm gonna race whatever it is that's thrown my way and try to win regardless.

all my cars are set for the 1000m so i think i can knock off about .2 to .8 seconds off if i set it for 400m..not sure on gt4 b ut i did it on gt3
