Awesome. 👍

Architecture... Shouldn't be too hard. I think we'll go ahead and continue with our black and white thing on this subject as well. I do have reasons for that, one of which is that it should force participants to pay more attention to shapes, shadows, stuff like that.

So, then, Architecture :: B&W.

I like Black & White, I think it is good we stick to it. In my photography class, everything we took was in black and white, so I am pretty used to it right now, even though my entry for last week wasn't too great.

There is a reason they use B&W, similar to the reasons I'm using it right now.

It does a few things. Firstly, it helps to 'clear your mind'. Your mind isn't confused by colors, isn't distracted by a brilliant orange. It also forces you to pay more attention to shadows, shapes, composition; a lot of things you may just pass by when looking at some green light, or something.

We'll use it and general themes for a little while.

I am not saying it is bad. I also realize that it makes you look at the shapes, shadows, etc. of things. I like taking b&w pictures. Hope to try something this week.

Here is some Ancient Mayan architecture, not sure of which to pic...or maybe I should try to find some better pics, what do you guys think?

Please elaborate on Architecture. I'm not so clear on it. :(
Man made structures.

Architecture is pretty much the design part of a building. For example, I'll refer to one of ITR's pictures here:

Rising_Giant_by_labeld.jpg

So, basically, take a creative picture of a manmade structure.

Oh well, guess i'll be out of this one, i really have no interesting architecture.
Not yet, but that's half of the point. Go walk somewhere, take pictures of something. Remember, there is beauty in everything. Or,at least most things.. But that's not the point.

Pictures, man.. Take pictures!

There are no buildings here just houses and i'm stuck in my house because I can't drive anywhere. So I have to stick to my backyard, frontyard, or inside. :indiff:

That is nice emad. I like skyscrapers.

Blackbird, do you have any interesting houses around where you live, close enough to your house that you could walk? Is there any interesting architecture in your neighborhood?

Bridges, houses, statues (well, I count them as architecture of sorts), anything manmade that's designed to be put up permanently. Who knows, maybe you can sneak into a nearby construction site over the weekend. Just don't hold me liable for the consequences that may come from your carelessness ;)

Try a super contrasty, washed out effect. Make the shutter lower than it should be after shooting a normal shot. Then go into Photoshop and crank up the contrast and levels to bring major emphasis on the darks and lights while heavily reducing the mid ranged tones. -- Try the staircases at school. Maybe one of the hallways or even your church. Be creative :)

Well, I'll try, but there's really nothing in Madison.

What about the capitol building ;). Maybe you could take one coming into the city from the north when you can just see it rise over the horizon 👍.

Yeah, true, seeing as how I live on the North Side

Anyways, I think your prodding has given me an idea. Just gotta wait till after finals.

Yeah i've taken mulitple. That's the only interesting shot I can get of it. The only thing wrong with it is it's lighting is unbalanced.

I am going to Cows on the Concourse/Madison Farmers Market on Saturday with my father. I hope to take some pictures of the Wisconsin capital building then.

Read the DA. Its just the library at Spokane Falls Community College. I just wandered around Campus today :)

I do most of my work in B&W, so I tend to look at shapes and lighting before colors. Just look at the rest of my DA and you can see my B&W deal.

Azuremen got my pick. Where is that!?

Here is the info on his shot -
Interior shot of hte library at school. Bit bored and was wondering around.

I think its kinda neat. Shot with the DC4800... converted over to black and white. Just adjusted levels and cropped

My Opinion - I think that the image looks great.

It's been overcast here so I went for a walk this morning and took these shots, first B&W ones I've done on my little camera.

I'd be keen to hear any comments on them, I've not had any training so I've no idea if they are any good in a technical sense, but I like them.

Final entry

Brock, those pictures are pretty good. Personally, I would have chosen the image with the chimney on the right side.

I think that the building on the image on the left, below the final entry, should have been more off to the side, rather than right in the middle. Your final entry is pretty good too.
