Well i was thinking of sitting this one out, but i see a few people are turning out so im gonna give it ago, don't know how good i can go with a 900hp car though, i like my slow more controlable cars :)

Anyways ill be back later with some sectors.

Well boom,

since I know your a reasonable person, I doubt you will take offense to this. (as if you even could have a reason to do so)

This car is the biggest heap of crap I have driven in the game. period.

I dont know of another car in the game that requires as much tuning or skill.

I honestly believe I could do my best to run a clean save for this week, then after that, use a 500 hp vette, fully moded, and manage to beat whatever time this soapbox car can put down.

900hp or not, this is one horrible car.

Please, please, please.... someone give me some setttings to prove me wrong.

Right now Im doing everything I can.

toe is at 2 front, -2 rear.
aero is at the lowest possible rear. (front=non adjustable)
springs are super soft front, really hard rear.

...

I just dont know what to say, besides HELP!

Thanks for any help you guys can offer up.

edit:
-----------------------------------------------

Well, I take back some of what I just said.

Im managing to get the car around the course now.

Although, to keep it clean I have to go about 10 mph the whole way.

Anyway, this week is gonna be a challenge just to keep it clean.
(Im not even gonna think of getting a good time, just a clean one I can turn in... if that damn sharkport will ever load.)
===========================
edit:
well Ive just done what I can for now.

Settings are almost acceptable.

Times are complete crap.

Clean? Hell no. Cant even get a slow lap down thats clean.

I still think this car is like a cold ball of clay. Yeah, maybe with a few hours of warming up it will be able to do something, but not in my hands.

And Ive just gotta say...

I am already dying to see the replays from the top finishers this week.

Its gonna be amazing.

Kent - I can tell that your settings are way too extreme for this car.. They may be good for the ZZII, but the Skyline requires less variance between front and rear. I will have a more detailed set up in about 3-4 hours when I'm at home, but from what you posted, try setting the springs around 18.7/16.0 or 16.0/18.7 (can't rembember which, but either one should be an imrovement), toe at +0.5/-1.5, DF .48, shock b 6/7 shock rb 8/8, stabs 7/7
LSD settings (very important!)
Init 8/8
Acel 50/60
Decel 5/5

These were some 'starter settings' I had for AHII, so try them out if you like. As I said earlier, I will post my eggzact 'decent' settings later if ya wanna wait..

Well, I had fonder memories of this car a while ago. But, that has really changed. :irked:

However, very smooth inputs on the controls with this car becomes very rewarding. There is no way you can just throw this car around this track. Smoothness in your driving is going to be the key. Kind of relaxing if you ask me. ;)

Anyway, here are my crazy settings.

6.0/18.0
77/130
10/10
10/10
2.0/1.0
-1.0/0.0
1/6
24/21
5 all around on the LSD
Havent played with the gears much.
ASM: 0
TCS: 0
VCD: 10%

Here are some pathetically slow T times:

T1: 15.960
T2: 35.493
T3: 1.01.798

Beautiful replay though.

The key to this car and this week, imho is tuning your style to the car more than anything. It will push, it will pull, it will go straight when you are trying to wrestle a turn out of it... Just ride along with it.. flow... I think that is the key.

From all the talk Ive hered over the years about this car,.. I thought it would be a peach.............................

This thing is like drivin a friggin dump truck. I'm spankin it into the turns like it was a $3 hooker.

Sorry Boom,... dont like it that much

15.473/34.723/1.00.232

11.0/8.0
90/89
10/10
10/10
1.4/1.7
-1.0/1.0
3/5
24/14
5/16
5/29
5/5
21 - 3.699
max df
asm 0
tcs 0
vcd 10%

Damn you guys, I know those times are just preliminary, but...

I put down times that I thought were horrid this morning and it wasn't far off off from what you two put down.

I saw the 35's for sure.

Im going back to it now, but let me ask...

Why do you guys run bound and rebound at 10 for each part?

Maybe you could explain to me what you feel the difference is for this weeks race.

straight 1's to straight 10's in a comparison of how the suspensions perform.

If you take me up on this (anyone for that matter) post up what you find. Please :D

I forgot to mention I have the diff changed from boom's too... and I hate understeer :) I'm pulling times right allong with what was posted... well a bit faster than boom's ;) I just lean her into the turn, wait a sec then pour it on... coumes right arround... most of the time :) That toe in helps a lot I think.:boggled:

Well, none of my previous setups worked with this track, so I made some new ones.
T's are 15.666/34.898/1'00.817
Back sortly with settings.

Damn, well I just made some mean progress.

I put all my stuff at an alright mix of what I had before...

8 bound and re all the way around.
stiffer springs in the rear
really soft springs up front
negative toe all the way around
front rear braking is even
df is still at the fullest oversteer possible
camber is still really high

But in the end, all of those came together to make a 1.00.6 clean save.

So thats nice for the time being.

Now Ive gone beyond just hoping for a clean lap and have actually begun to feel like a fast lap may be within reach.

Spring 14.0/18.7
RH 89/105
Sh B 7/10
Sh RB 7/10
Cam 3/2
Toe .5/-.5
Stab 7/7
BB 24/22
Init 8/8
Accel 15/25
Decel 35/35
Final 3.550
Auti 21
DF .40
ASM/TCS 0
VCD 20%

These settings will probably change every 3 laps or so, cuz that's just the way I do it ;)
I've gone through about 20 setups so far with pretty much the same total lap result within 2 seconds.

I got two clean laps which started off being really different, but the slower lap ended up yielding a faster time in the end.

Slower Clean lap time:
15.660
34.992
1'00.232

Faster Clean lap time:
15.949
35.456
1'00.491

Funny enough, im 3 tenths faster in the end even after being 2 tenths behind at T3 compared to the other lap time. I hope I can nail all the sectors down nice. Would make a nice cumulative time.

My settings are REAL close to Boom's:
6.0/18.5
77/130
10/10
10/10
2.3/1.0
-1.0/-0.5
1/7
24/21
5/5
5/5
5/5
Auto Set in the middle (or one notch higher or lower)
0.58 downforce rear
0 ASM
1 TCS
10% VCD

So as you can see its real close to Boom's setup.

Edit: Nice T3 time RER, look similar to mine?

Save your game before the last race, then quit during the first lap of last race, as long as your 10 points ahead of 2nd place.
If you're concerned about Win%, then save before last race, then if you don't win it, all you have to do is the last race, rather than the entire series.

Thanks for the tip about saving, luckily I only had to compete in the 10th race twice to win the Skyline :D
I'm now the proud owner of an "Active Red" GR-R R-tune, so here goes nothing... :)

I'm pretty unfamliar with Skylines, especially tuned ones, so I've started out with a "stock" R-tune - I just slapped on a set of T8 boots, bought a VCD (set to 28%) and turned ASM off and TCS to 3.
That way, I think I can learn tweak the settings and get a feel for how the car behaves before I throw in the extra power...
So far my best clean run is T3 of 1.09.1xx - now it's time to stiffen here up a bit and add some more grunt...:D

OK latest fastest clean save:

T1: 15.701
T2: 34.804
T3: 59.908

No change in settings.

Alright, now thats what I was waiting for.

I knew based on my own times...

15.9/35.1/1.00.6

that a sub 1.00 was easily possible on a 15.5/34.9

I also noticed a few people going below the 15.5 mark.

To me, that means the fastest guys this week will be in the sub 48 area.

Good luck fellas. (with lotus not racing anymore in this series I can say that without trouble ;) )

It would be prudent of me to mention that I might not be able to supply time and replay, however, I'm willing to say that there is a 99 percent chance of me putting a replay up this week.

Sharkport seems to be working and a save is in the works.

till next time.

heres my times so far, havent really done much to the car, and understeers bad:D

15.7, 35.7, 1.01.7,

pretty much what times boom has, i might try to improve on this later but i got to work quite a bit the next couple days and i wanna see
LOTR the 2 towers!

well later

So I just spent the last hour and a half trying to get the GTR R-Tune. After getting the Mine's Skyline, I go into the garage to look at it. Hah, what do you know, there is a R-Tune right there. HAH! HAHAHAH! ISN'T THAT FUNNY?! *takes out gun*

Sub 58 maybe? I must say that if I can manage something like a 15.2 in sector one then my T3 would be around 59.4. Going under 59 already seems almost impossible with this setup.. unless someone else has a miracle setup that will allow them to do so. That clean lap of mine still has some flaws. But its getting to the point where improving is going to be difficult. I think the top guys might make it into the 58's. But no way are they going lower.. i dont think..

My lowest T1 is 14.876 and my lowest T3 is 59.307, but both weren't in the same lap, and neither resulted in a better lap overall than my previous T's.

Those are some pretty impressive sector times eggman. Are you still using the same setup you posted earlier? Or have you modified it since?

14's are possible at T1 (I've seen 15.2's),.... 33's are pssible at T2 (seen 34.4's) and 58's are possible at T3 (havent seen any 59's, but if you nail 1 and 2 like above,... then the 58 will be there).

Thanks!

My setup is similar but I've tried out some of the things from other settings here and incorporated them into my car. The only thing I used directly was RER's gear ratio.
My shocks are now at 5/7 and 5/7. RH now 89/95. Springs are 16.0/18.7. Added TCS=1. LSD is different too now, but I don't recall that eggzact setting offhand. Somewhere's around 5/5, 5/60, and 20/20.

I'd also loike to inquire for a 'rules confirmation'.

The following situation, IMO, is UNETHICAL, and should be pointed out in the rules:
At the start of free run, while approaching the left-to-right turn,.... what is the rule on cutting the corner (before the lap is started) to gain extra speed comming to the start line?

IMO, if your over 162 mph(260 k's) at the start line, your cutting the corner.

BOOM,... are you gonna allow this type of strategy to occur?

That sounds about right. I'm usually between 155-160 at the start.

Another way to verify this (if we're going to) would be to compare Start speed/Finish speed.

It would be tough to do that because of the inconsistancy of the corner,.... sometimes I hit the line at 160-2,... sometimes I hit it at 150 and re-start cause I took a hop during the turn.

I do think we should set a maximum though for the start,.... when I nail it perfectly, I'm hittin 162 (average is apporx. 158 from all my starts), I cant see hittin it faster, unless someone else has seen it (on a legit turn through the left/right).
