Well, I've been doing some homework (I know, it's amazing me doin homework, innit?). Anyway, I only ran about 8 laps in free mode with these settings which I put together with no thought at all:

SP/Rate: 9.8/10.8
RH: 65/69
Damper: 10 @ all 4 corners.
Camber: 2.5/1.0
Toe: -0.5/0.5
Stabs: 6/5
Brakes: 15/10
LSD: Stock
Gears: Final 3.469 Auto 30
Dforce 0.95/1.00
TCS: 2
VCD: 15%

And got a 1.15.960. But I was running on Medium Slicks (I havent bought any Super Soft Slicks yet) so I suppose that equates to my slow time..
But I noticed that the rear end was quite loose and the front just didn't want to steer, so what should I change to stop the understeer? I don't mind having oversteer in an AWD though...

Well Maloo, I must say that I'm a bit disapointed to hear that. Guess I'll have to wait till next week to race you again.

You have a Xport?

I made a mistake. Ive got two FTOs. One with stage 4 and one with stage 3. The one with stage three has just over 300km on the clock, one oil change so Im not behind in power like I thought I was.

I raced two races today with little tuning and managed a quickest lap of 1:12.3XX

No, I dont have an Xport

Lower your front springs and raise the rear springs. Same with the stabalizers.
Take the VCD down to 10% and the TCS either to OFF or to 1.
LSD to minimum in all categories.

That should help you out a bit.

So 300k is the lowest milage that you have on either of those cars? 300k shouldn't pose a problem. Just dont' save the game. That way you will always have that car with 300k on the clock. Just save your settings.

That's fairly good on Sim tires Max ;)

I ran some laps today and got down to 1'10.679 with hopefully a bit more to come when I play with the toe settings.

This car is just fantastic, excellent race Boom. The Vertigo just needed too much pinpoint accuracy for me to get the times from it. The FTO LM is just soooo chuckable :D

Don't forget about the "Gear Trick" that Mr. P informed about.

First, set your final gear all the way to the right. Something like 5.499.
Then, move the "Auto Gear" all the way to the left. It's lowest position.
Next, go back to the "Final Gear" and reduce it till you get it where you want it. Usually hitting red line at the end of the longest straight away.

Ok, a couple of questions about the "Gear Trick" (just want to make sure I'm understanding it properly). I haven't had a chance to run this week, so I haven't been able to try it out yet. Anyway, here goes ...

1. What is the goal of the gear trick? Does it give you better top speed or better acceleration, or does it just make it easier to fine tune for redline (because you only have to move the final gear slider)?

2. Going through the process as it is described above would be biased toward maximum acceleration, right? Could you also do it in reverse (move final gear all the way to the left, and auto setting almost all the way to the right, then move the final gear to the right until the car was just able to reach redline in 6th) to tune for max top speed?

1) Better accell - it makes the gears as short as possible

2) Yes,... I tune it the reverse way if I'm experiencing excessive wheelspin due to the original tranny trick 👍 I find myself tuning the Escudo this way a lot :)

This one is not working out for me at all it's gone from bad to worse :(
Im thinking im running good laps until the last sector where i think im loosing bags of time ..
I dunno if it's the car or just my driving but i can't seem to find the right balance
I've been running really long sessions and getting nowhere fast :( :banghead:

how fast are you running through the last sectors ? what speeds are you taking the turn, especially the second to last turn?

just wanted to point out that the tranny trick is quite a bit overrated. you don't HAVE to use it. infact, i sometimes find a nice auto setting and just tune individual gears. for instance, in the vertigo i just used the auto 31 setting. and made 6th gear .020 wider also making 5th gear .010 wider so the band stays smooth. the tranny trick IS useful. but believe me, it's not the end all be all of transmission tuning.

Could someone post up some sector times so i can determine where im going wrong cheers
Im roughly at T1 27 /28 T2 48 /50 mark

It may be due to my driving almost as if im doing a tarmac rally ..Is this the wrong approach.? It's something i cannot help do seeing it's AWD and all it just screams BURN UP THE ROAD

Also is it a bad idea to mess with the dampers ?

Does anyone else feel like they're driving in slow motion after using that vertigo so much?? :D or am i just driving too slow. Gave this a few laps in free run the other night and just kinda messin around w/ the settings managed to pull a few 1'14 lap times. I'll have to give some of these settings that have been posted up a try. been workin all week so havent had much time for this, but im off this weekend, so i'll give it a real go then!

Pedro, I thought I'd answer as we seem to be of a very similar standard in previous rounds.

My best lap so far is a 1:10.578 with splits T1:26.805 and T2:46.573. Looks like you're losing time in sector 2.

I think you have to slide this car this car to get the most from it, but you still need to stay on the apexes and get the power down early. Try not to drive it too much like a rally car - handbraking the hairpin doesn't work in this game.

The last part of the 'steel chicane' is also critical to the lap time, ideally you want to just rub the stickers off the side of the car without touching the paint :D

Well, Im getting there but its slow going.

I think the biggest problem is going to be getting down to a reasonable time in the free lap and then having time left to get a couple of days in with the arcade racing.

Hopefully I will be able to replicate the times of free run in the arcade.

Luckily, I haven't peaked on the free run yet, so every time I run an arcade for the fun of it, I come close to running free lap times.

One time I even ran my fastest lap to date in the arcade, but since then my time has gone down again and now I am once again trying to get my free run time down to a minimal.

Once I know what the best I can do in free run is, I will be able to confidently run in arcade and put up times that are close to what I find to be satisfactory.

good luck to all. (once again)

Cheers wastegate nice time BTW

I've not used the hand brake on the hair pin but i did tend to make the car go into a slide going into this turn
Im now opting for the smooth braking and taking the corner trying not to drift the car

Im not far behind on T1 .. T2 i think it's 47.500 round abouts
My best lap (that i got the other night) was 1'11.202 but since then have been having a battle to try match it or even beat it ..

I think my setup could be better also but thats gonna take time to suss out ..

Cheers for your help
Good luck against the sharks :)

Basically I think this race is more of a chore than a fun time.

Im racing it because I dont believe in skipping out on races I woulnt do well in and that alone.

The fto, although some may love it, seems to me to be just another 4wd turbo that needs to make up its mind... rally or road.

I know it is techinically a road car primarily, but I feel that a true road car shouldnt need major tuning to achieve "good" handling.

This is a race that is not my cup of tea, but at the same time, I feel that this is a race which could prove to teach me more about the game than most of the others.

The vertigo race gave me an excellent lesson in tuning and with it I managed to learn how to turn my fto in an excellent handler.

However, the main racing lesson in this race will be about how to control a race car that is "wild."

When I say wild I mean the type of car that breaks side ways at every turn, the kind of car that power slides through everything and the kind of car that must be tamed before it can be mastered.

This race is a challenge, and challenges are always fun, but I like things that are easy, and challenges are never easy.

I still want to stress that I believe our next race should be something with a mid rear config.

I mean, we still haven't done a mid rear...

ok guys, which do you think is more important in this race. Forget spring rates, braking bias, Dampers. I want to focus on Toe and Chamber. I know the chamber is going to give more traction when at the apex of a turn and give you that marvelous jump out of it, but the toe is going to give you more of a turn-in advantage. I haven't raced enough to totally feel comfortable with the settings I have and still feel they need major tweaking. I am leaning more to a chamber friendly tuning on this car then a toe favored. THis is my reason for it. I am tending to slip on a lot of turns I know I can make without sliding. I must also include the fact I am still running it with the T4s. I haven't felt I got the tuning right yet to use the T8s. What is everyone opinion on this issue?

For me this has turned out to be the most challenging race yet

Still trying to set this car up
Im trying to get my head round why im loosing 2/3 seconds on the hair pin alone and i seem to be taking it well

I don't like driving this type of car... I am much more a grip style driver. I haven't been able to get below a 1:12.332 at all...Maybe taking a stright line throught the double chicane will help alot, but I don't think it will be enough. I've tried about 1000 different combinations of setups with no luck.:irked: I cant seem to get any stability out of this thing, it feels like its on t4's all the time. I'm also finding it hard to match my best lap times in arcade mode since the car is on the ragged edge ALL THE TIME, sliding this way and that. Oh, well I'll give it my best and see what happens. Maybe I'll be happier next week.

My settings are close to what everyone else seems to have, if you are feeling kind hearted maybe you could give me yours.;)

Muchos gracias senior Ron

I will definatly give these a go ..

Can someone post speed / gearing through the hairpin and final schicane
I can sometimes take the hairpin dropping to second then back on the gas just as i reach the apex popping it into 3rd without to much wheelspin or drift

The last schicane i try and take in 3rd having to feather the throttle through the middle section of the schicane
Im not to sure on the speeds as im not at home
Cheers

Also what is the 7/7 9/9 is that damper or stabiliser settings.? I thought stabs only went up to 7
EDIT

Im such a dumbass at times:rolleyes: I take it 9/9 is the brakes
