Weird Sliding Thing on my Ski Bindings.

So I've got these Rossignol bindings and there is this weird plastic slide thing that can move around and return with a spring. It's on the front binding. Is it to clean off snow? I'm confused. :boggled:

If I had to guess, I'd say it's just to help lock the front end of your boot in place.

Now you've got me curious, I've got Rossignol bindings on my skis...I'll check them out later today if I can remember and see if they're on mine.

Hmm even after working in a sports store and selling this stuff I haven't ever seen that?

My guess is that it helps lock in the boot as well but I'm not sure. Could be used as a snow cleaner I suppose but with skiis you never take them off. It would make more sense on snowboard bindings.

I'll look too and see if I can find anything. Could we get a model number for he bindings?

Wait a sec!!!! Does it slide from left to right?

If so it's meant to make it easier for your boot to roll out. It's stiffness along with how easy the back releases are set by a tech based on height, age, weight and ability. Higher settings mean it's harder to come out. It's a safety features meant to help the toe roll out in the event the skis release during a crash.

👍

This is most likely your answer, most bindings have several settings between beginner and advanced based on how easy it is to release the boot.

Thanks guys, you're right! I was looking at it again and I got to the same conclusion. Thanks for the help! :)

Oh good. I have no idea why I didn't think of that earlier. I talked about that every time I sold bindings :lol

Here's to hoping you don't have to use that feature haha. My mountains are all open now! First day of snowboarding tomorrow, I have a seasons pass this year :)

Lucky you, unseasonable warmth in November has pushed ski season back a bit here in Pennsylvania.

I am going to New Hampshire for a ski vacation over Xmas break though at least.
