The first time in U.S. history a foreign car company out sold an Americian car company within the United States.

Any guesses on who it was?

It was Toyota.

I saw it on the news last night, and thought I would share.

I donno why that is...

You know you'd think that someone could make a rotary besides Mazda. :)

Ohh wait, GM and Ford had projects going back in the 60's, and both failed. If Japan can do it, America will fail it. :D

US didn't invent the Rotary...NSU did, in Japan. Felix Wankel...from Germany, came up with the design. He's the inventor, he's dead too. :( But Mazda is the only company to use the rotary in mass production. Come on Magic, keep up with this Mazda stuff! :)

It's about damn time.

But Mazda pretty much has 100% of rotary sales...

duh.

aside NSU, which died in the 1970s, no one sold Rotaries afterwards aside Mazda...

that's a pretty dumb statement, Maz.

Citroen sold the GS with a bi-rotor engine in the 70's. Unsurprisingly the tips kept going so most were recalled and scrapped. They are very rare now.

...and that's what I wish Nissan had done instead of Toyota.

Just a reminder about what the thread was oringally about! :D

That doesnt really surprise me.

I am happy. Every car in Canada is an import technically. So I'm not biased towards anything. Although in Canada, American cars are called domestics.

You would think it would at least be a car company that sold a decent car that outsold Chrysler. Oh well, No accounting for taste.
