Yes. Why do you ask?

camrys, corollas and cruisers

Or the fact that they sell like fifty-six models so by default they make a crapload of money...

...that's their US strategy.

Kia sold 2000x more cars down under than elsewhere around the world!

Kia sells craploads of cars all over based only on warranty and standard spec -- most sales in the US are profitless fleet sales.

Ummm.. yeah. That's a matter of opinion. Are you saying my opinion is "downright stupid"?

Actually, I don't think I would really ever use the word "downright" in a sentence.

The only reason why Toyota out sold GM is because all these damn yuppies in there damn Corolla's and Camery's. I personally think Toyotas suck for the most part. I mean ya the Supra was alright, the MR2 wasn't to bad, and the Celica got way to girly on me.

No its just that it said on the news the "Toyota out sold GM".

But our news stations are wacked out around here and I wasn't paying much attention.

It's about damn time.

But Mazda pretty much has 100% of rotary sales...

*cough* Ex-squeeze me? Ford has owned Mazda for years. Plus, most auto companies didn't want to mess with a fragile, thirsty, polluting and torqueless engine. Don't mention the Renesis; it isn't on the market yet. I hope it's better than the 13B, but then again they have nowhere to go but up.

---

It doesn't surprise me that Toyota is the first to outsell an American company in the US. They build very solid (if unexciting) cars. You may not care for them as an enthusiast, but enthusiasts have a relatively small market share.

<- Thinks Toyota has some damn fine cars. :)

Well I went back and read the link M5 posted. Ok Toyota didn;t out sell anyone and GM is still on the top of sales.

Now that I was proven to be an idioit, you all should go look at it as well.

Hey, I believed the post when I saw it until I went back to the link also. I probably wont be long before Toy ota does outsell Chrysler though. Keep in mind that Germans run the company now.(jk)

 :P

Toyota is growing in sales and witht the addition of the brand Scion, it won't be long before the lagging Chrysler is finally passed by the Japanese, believe it or not. Not too long ago I had to drive to small town Illinois for a small-scale meeting and when I drove into the town in my A4, it appeared as if it was the first German car the town had ever seen -- everyone had an Escort, an F-150, a 300M, Silverado, Vandura, etc. No import dealers, even.

It's a lot like that here. There are foriegn car dealers but they aren't that plentiful. At least 80% of the cars on the road are American and about 15% japanese and 5% European.
As far a pick-ups go there is about 99% American and 1% japan.
THe largest majority of the pick-ups are Dodge. then GM.

Yeah - it's like that all over our midwest with the exception of large cities. Where do you live in Michigan?

Ah, my dad was born in Muskegon; he went to U of M. :)

Now that this has gone far enough off-topic... :D

That image that Robbin posted(the pie chart) is kinda odd...I didn't know that Mazda outsold Nissan(the others it outsold I already knew about, first off Kia and Daewoo don't have many cars at all(and are edgy quality wise), and Subaru only appeals to cirtain people(they only make sedans, wagons, an suv, and now, a truck. That's not much, but I like Subarus a lot)...kinda a surprize since Nissan has been upgrading all of thier cars(in the past 2 years, the Altima, Maxima, Sentra, 350Z, and some other stuff, where as Mazda, in the past 2 years, has only upgraded the MPV, the Protege(MazdaSpeed), and just now, the 6).

Why is Hyundai up there with that number? Seems a bit high(probably good sales because they seel thier cars for cheap, cause they are, well, cheap)...
Where's Honda also? I'd like to see how they are doing...

So, sedans, wagons, SUV's, and trucks -- isn't that what Mazda makes, too? :D I suppose Mazda only appeals to 'a certain kind of people' also.

For the record -- Subaru only makes sedans (Imp, Legacy, Outback), wagons (Imp, Legacy, Outback, Forester) and one seriously ugly vehicle (Baja) which can't really be qualified as a truck due to its small bed, lowness, AWD, small engine, and Outback chassis.
