Looks a lot like an F30 3-Series from the front, profile looks pretty good, but the back is meh. That plain black plastic frame with two buttons around the screen looks cheap as hell though. Overall though it looks pretty decent, though pretty similar to the Quattroporte.

I love the 300C infotainment centre in the dash

A bit Kia Optima in the back

Not the best representation of the Ghibli name

The Rear is a perfect Set up for a Stradale Model. The area below the Tail Lamps seem to be a place where Air Ducts would be located. thats probably why its like that.

What's wrong with Maserati at the moment? First they make a Lexus, now a 5-Series wannabe that got confused and as a result looks like an F30 3 Series at the front.

I'll take an M5/RS6/E63 instead please...

When a manufacturer re-uses an old name, they should at least make the car in the same class or segment.

You can't call that a Ghibli, when this was a Ghibli.

I think it looks pretty good at a glance. I'm not sure why they went for a smaller sedan instead of a crossover though. The Kubang was a great looking thing.

Looks quite a bit better than the "Are you sure this isn't an M56?" Quattroporte. Nice visual ties to the Gran Turismo.

So... a better representation of the Ghibli would be a 2 Door Maserati that was nothing but a Lancia Delta with out a hatch???

I see people dont follow Fiat Chrysler well.... The Kubang (now called LEVANTE) is still in the works as in the Baby QP (Ghibli)

The back looks like something Fiat would do.

The front looks like something Seat would do.

While the rear is slightly odd, I do like the front end. Glad to see a modern car manufacturer stick to a low profile for the front, after what seems like ages 👍

The name reminds me of this though

I completely agree but then again, they already did exactly the same thing before.

Even taking into consideration this car was probably meant to appear understated and relatively low key yet classy, I do agree that the visuals between a lot of exotic brands and the more humdrum brands becomes increasingly blurry, often the 'lesser' brands producing the better looking cars nowadays strangely enough.

As for the styling, I like it (white isn't the best colour for a Maserati though) although I do echo those who say the front looks a bit like the new BMW 3-series, I certainly prefer it over the Quattroporte (still much prefer the Gran Turismo's look over both).
So....very big Quattroporte and 3-series-esque smaller car, did someone already tell the guys at Maserati that Maggie died?

According to Top Gear there are two twin-turbo V6's on the option list, built by Ferrari in Maranello.

So Ferrari are building turbo V6 engines? F1 is running Turbo V6 engines next season. Do I smell a Turbo V6 powered Ferrari on the horizon to tap into the F1 connection? A new Dino maybe?

Top Gear are right. And you're not going to like one of the engines.

You see... one's a twin turbo 3.0 V6 petrol and the other... isn't petrol. At all. I also wrote a piece on this today from the official Maserati press release :D

Actually they're Ferrari-tuned Chrysler engines apparantly, and there's going to be a diesel-engine for the first time.

From CarMagazine.

Maserati Ghibli: the spec

All Ghiblis will be powered by Ferrari-fettled versions of Chrylser’s ‘Pentastar’ twin-turbocharged V6 engines, mounted up front and mated to eight-speed paddle-shift gearboxes. The 3.0-litre bi-turbo petrol engine will be offered in two states of tune, the lower-powered one totalling around 330bhp and the uprated car over 400bhp.

A V6 turbodiesel will also be offered, sporting around 300bhp. The diesel will be the cheapest Ghibli, at around £50,000, while the petrol models will cost upwards of £60k.

The regular V6 is presumably just the same engine that goes in the base-level Maserati M56. I doubt it means anything that Ferrari is building it other than Maserati (for whatever reason) can't build it themselves.

You see... one's a twin turbo 3.0 V6 petrol and the other... isn't petrol. At all.

So it's electric? What are the advantages of hooking turbochargers up to an electric engine?

The diesel is a 3.0-litre twin-turbo from the Jeep Grand Cherokee, but it's been fettled to sound better and be more powerful (270bhp and 420lb). There are also two petrols available, both twin-turbo V6s made by Ferrari in Maranello. One has 410bhp and the other 430bhp, and all three engines are mated to an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission.

In any case, this car seems very, meh. The headlights seem lifted from the Ferrari parts bin and the rest looks a mismatch of other Maserati parts. It's not bad looking, but to me it's nothing special.

other than Maserati (for whatever reason) can't build it themselves.

If they are indeed based on Chrysler engines (the petrol-versions), it could simply be a marketing gimmick to give them some cred.
If they did alter them theirselves (and maybe they did), then it would possibly be perceived as just altered Chrysler-engines (which they essentially still are), add an extra layer of 'Ferrari-magic' and the Chrysler 'stain' slightly wears off perhaps in people's perception.

So that's bad? I'm confused. Afterall maserati are luxurious ferarri's...Alfa is the same way. Their taillights resemble ferarri's
