I've had some experience with this car both on Mission 34, one of the Driving tests, and I have one in my garage.
Just as I write this, i just took it for a spin around Tsukuba dry on N3 spec tires, using the Dual Shock 2 with no electronic aids on, added with trying this car a while earlier on Fuji Speedway and Suzuka.
For one, not the best handling car in the world, but it's not the worse. I can't say it's so much on the basis of weight but it plays some part into it (besides the flaws of GT4 that have been preached on to DEATH by a number of us here...), although I'm sure it could handle a lot better than in GT4 if it's powerlap in the hands of Stig on Top gear is any credibility. I feel part of the blme to what is at fault with GT4. Much as I hate to say that on one end.
Even so, this car is more of a Gran Tourer than a racer, but I can see potential to make it into a very well rounded racer if one bothers to spend the time to drive it, and if so tune it to their liking or so allowed, yes it sucks you can't put a wing on it, all I can say is, deal with it the best you can.
Also, I think the brakes work and it's more of a case of tires over brakes, I mean even on N3 (maybe N2's but until I can use a DFP, I'll try it, I don't feel like using N2's on a DS2 with this car but then again maybe I'll just try it anyway), hell, this thing brakes even better than a Zonda I tested and that is lighter than a Honda NSX-R (which I also liked).
I think what puts people off is the handling, it isn't the type to turn in quickly, it seams especially so when braking into a turn, and I think that's why people are put off because even if you brake down to a speed other cars could clear such as a NSX-R, because you don't turn into a corner as quickly as other machines.
Call me crazy, but I think that is why some people think the brakes are crap, becuase as I've found, you may seam to go off as you try to maintain speed turning in with this car in a similar way, heading to the same reasult as how one may brake too late into a corner and go off into the grass/into a wall with another car. But I've seen worse handling cars, and it isn't bad for something that can go around Tsukuba in about a minute (to be exact 1.00.709) on N3 tires with a dual shock 2.
In the end it's really your choice, not something I'd recemond myself but that isn't to say count it out either. It does cost quite a lot, if you're willing to put in time and effort to make it work, go right ahead. If you want something else, get something else, it's your choice anyway it's cut in my view.
My two cents on it anyway. Till later.
