Dude?I don't think the SLR sucks, just that I need to get better at driving with it so I'll be able to pass DM34 sometime soon. The key to it is trailbraking, I think. But it for sure looks nice, got mine in black, or should I say, "schwarz".
Basically, it is braking while turning. it can increase maneuverabilty, but grip loss can occur if not done carefully due to splitting tire grip between turning and braking.WIKIPEDIATrail Braking is a term used to describe carrying the braking action of a vehicle past the turn entry.
3-Wheel DriveHow can the brakes be that awful? The real car has some of the best braking of any supercar. The same thing has been said of the Ford GT, and it has good brakes. The problem is probably that you can enter a turn much faster than it appears (little sensation of speed) so you attempt to brake beyond the car's capability, thinking it should be able to stop, but it can't.
1n5oMni4Well I personally think that the brakes on the SLR are not enough strong due to his weight.
The GT otherwise brakes really well
samj_13Both cars, IMO, have incredible braking for their size/weight, and both are some quite underrated automobiles.
SLR SUPERCAR???
the only superthing the car is capable doing is it's topspeed of 334 km/h.
which i can reach also in a SL 65 AMG.
they never had the intention to create something that will destroy the Porsche's or Ferrari's on a racetrack ( and they never will )
they created Art ( with a capital A ) on 4 wheels and in my opinion they did a damned good job.
so don't expect you're SLR beating a Pagani or a Saleen, just take it for a spin on the testcourse and '' dream that it is you on the freeway with all the luxury you can get with a speed of 200 mp/h still capable of hearing what kind of cello is used in beethoven's fifth.
(and let your zonda do the rest)
MY point here: i think the SLR deserves his own superstatus and shouldn't be compared with the "circuitracers".
Thats Pretty Impressive from an SLR. I would never think it would beat them. Maybe I should try a Pagani there.Quite an old thread to bring back, none the less I'll comment.
Regarding your thoughts on the SLR vs other super cars... Allow me to tell you this please...
In a Spot race here on the GTP we used any production car, completely unmodified with N2 tires on the Nurburgring for a hotlap contest... The SLR won.
Ford GT came close, Zonda 7.3 just off that, a variety of others falling in line behind those.
Here's the thread and a list of the top few times...

The key to being fast in the SLR is driving the car as it would be driven rather than driving it as you would drive it (or another way to say it... Lose your personal driving style and adapt to what the car can do).
The potential of the SLR is much greater than most people ever realize.![]()

Thanks for your comment but i still don't recommend racing a SLR.
(7'15.761)? would eat him with a gt. ( and the SL 65 AMG.)
p.s. You're saying that i need to adapt my driving style??? that means enough to me though...
