I have a Adobe Photoshop CS2 (free from the website). What do I do to make a GT5 photo look real?

I have been messing around with colour correction a lot, but I know there has to be more to it than that.

If you could give clear asnwers as to what you do to make your photos look real, and maybe give me some examples like before and after.

Bear with me as I will ask quite a lot of questions, I am a noob. :D

My opinion is that the Curves/Levels adjustments are a good place to start. Using an adjustment layer rather than directly editing the photo will allow you to tweak or change after you start adding other things on as well.

Check out some of the tutorials in the sticky regarding clean up and such too.

I usually start with the curves and work my way down step by step through many adjustment. There's more to it though, playing around with different filters and much more.

I use flickr's adjustment tools. No need for photoshop if you are taking good photos. Pictures aren't like playing football. No need to rush. Take your time be patient with your photo and there is no reason for photoshop, unless you wanna go crazy like ^^ that guy. haha.

But GIMP is free and it won't affect the quality of the image like online editing does. You can still just use the adjustment tools in GIMP. 👍

Yes, but it makes sense to adjust the seperate color channels.
I usually desaturate the complete picture a bit and then start to 'add' some of the colors again.

No reason for me. I just do contrast, saturation and sometimes sharpening.

you'll pretty much never get a real looking photoshop edit without a good picture to start with.
Yes thats very true.

I don't have flickr tho I have photobucket. I have tried the editing filters there. They are all right.

Trust me when I say you want to get rid of photobucket and get a flickr.

Photobuckets compression makes photos look terrible.

Flickr compresses too, but the difference between the two photo hosts quality is very significant.

I second this!

I also agree with Lee that you need a good picture to start with. Sometimes no amount of editing can make some shots look real.

I have noticed that. I do that right now actually!
