Just did a $40 Restaurant Week thing at George’s California Modern. Really great meal. Had ceviche with halibut, shrimp, scallops, and amarillo peppers; tea roasted duck breast with figs, gold beets, and daikon and a small serving of seared foie gras; and shared several desserts including a cheesecake soufflé, cream cheese ice cream, chocolate tart, passion fruit savarin with coconut ice milk and mango chutney, and a few other things. And paired with a pinot and Sage Cabernet (my friend’s idea, not mine&#8230.

Glad I finally got to try foie gras before it becomes illegal in California. I perfectly cooked some beef liver earlier this week though so if I’m honest it wasn’t as mind-blowing as I’d hoped, but still yummy.

I'm glad I don't live in California. It would ruin my Xmas not having foie gras. I know it's cruel to produce but so is beer. Think of all the hops that get boiled to make a single pint.
