John Peel was born this day in 1939. I was fortunate enough to be stationed in England from 1982 to 1984 when I was in the Air Force. I listened to BBC Radio 1 regularly, and the Peel Sessions especially, even though at the time I had no idea how important he was in the championing of different artists and genres. So to celebrate the late John Peel, here are a few of his legendary Peel Sessions.

I got up early for the live stream of Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert and so far it hasn't disappointed. Unfortunately I wasn't early enough and missed the first few hours. RIP Taylor :(
