I fear I've just killed a small forest. I just finished printing 172 24"x36" drawings.

1032 square feet, 148608 square inches or 1589 8.5"x11" pieces of paper. Take your pick.

The really bad part - my boss has to sign each and every one. :scared:

Today I'm going into work (On a Saturday, ugh) to prepare and check the 851 computers at work which have reached their end of lease dates. Then every weekend until the 2nd week of December, myself and 3 other people will be replacing all-of-them, with brand spanking new ones (Yay!). It's going to be a terrible job, which no doubt have a lot of problems and cause hair to fall out, but when I'm being paid Double Time I won't complain too much.

I'm sitting at home, in bed, with a laptop, watching some Anime, petting my dogs, and wating for my damn lasagna to thaw out, all while playing GT4. Best part is, I don't have school!

I'm reading this thread and weighing my hunger against various fast-food restaurants' appeal and their respective health impacts.

2/3 lb. Monster Thickburger, Chili Cheese Fries and a chocolate malt should do the trick.

And now I'm going to say what men should only say in very special circumstances...

OMG it's huge.

In before Casio.

Also, the burger was good. Now I'm watching last Tuesday's episode of House.

i'm current'y being punished for not doing all the chores my mother wanted done.though now i don't understand what i'm being punished for as i did all the chores a week ago... so i get to sleep in my room all day.

While my son is doing his treatment, we're watching NOVA (Polar Dinosaurs) and I'm running speaker wire for my surround speakers. Finally. I'll soon be back in glorious 3/3.1 instead of 3/0.0!

Revival time!

I'm working on a lighting layout for a bank. They want thirty-five foot candles throughout. Thirty-five?!? Are they out of their minds?!?

That's kind of excessive, but I've seen worse. Heck, I did supermarkets for a chain president who wanted over 20 foot candles at the darkest part of his parking lot.

foot candles?
Foot candles.

We usually design for fifty for an office. They're shooting for thirty-five. I've tried talking them out of it, but that's a no go.

I am cheating a bit, though... :sly:

Point of interest - the sun on a nice, clear day is about 10,000 foot candles. Give or take.

We had a sporting goods store that wanted their lot as bright as the car lot across town. We tried using the "It'll distract from your $35 million building" but that didn't work, either.

Edit: Then you have to start worrying about light trespass. Especially when it's right next to apartments.

But not 50 throughout for an office, just at task areas, right?

In this case, we are shooting for 35 on the desk surface (see image). Usually, like I said, it's 50 for an office.

Also, we use a light loss factor of .81 so the initial light levels will be slightly higher than the 20's and 30's shown (should be closer to 30's and 40's) until the lamps start to lose some of their punch. Also, we typically go with 3 lamp fluorescent with dual switching (one switch for one lamp and one switch for the other two) so you can use one, two or three lamps - ballpark of 30, 50 and 70 foot candles in our office. Works very well for us. He didn't like it.

Subject change - I'll be taking a bit of a road trip in the morning to do a final walk through for one of our projects. Fingers crossed I don't have to chew anyone out too bad. :D

Is 35 feet candles too dark or something?

You could always add 15 of these:

Not overly, but I'm not a fan of it that dark in an office. Without some experience with a foot candle meter, it's difficult to explain the difference.

I'm surprised it took you that long. You're slipping. :P

Doing a timeplan for our cuisine unit. We actually did the our production a month ago, but I can't find the time plan nor can my chef. So I'm making a new one up. It's quite difficult to remember exactly what I put, but now I know that we couldn't start till half Nine because the storekeeper was late by half an hour.

Chilling with the Chili's Greatest Hits on the headphones, so it's a mix of relaxation and stress. A bit like seeing a F1 pit crew trying to perform on dope, I'd imagine...

Finally starting to get some cool results in my experiments - they involve putting gold nanoparticles into cells and then measuring the light scattering from them using different wavelength lasers. It has taken quite a while for me to figure out how to get useful, reproducible data, but now that it is working, I am collecting data in earnest and hopefully on my way to a first research paper in my new(ish) job. With some luck, these results may be enough to justify going to a conference this summer - in Melbourne :D

edit: My current avatar is a result I obtained this morning, showing the Raman scattering from 40 nm gold particles in a cell. Each "pixel" (or square in the image) is an area of 0.5 x 0.5 microns, and the whole map is a horizontal 'slice' through one whole cell (approx 1 x 15 x 15 microns). Each pixel represents the Raman spectrum at that point inside the cell, revealing the chemical composition at that location. By doing multiple maps, you can build a 3D image of the cell. By modifying the gold particle probes, I hope to be able to target specific parts of the cell and use this type of mapping to track chemical changes occuring in the cell...

N.B. The red, green and blue pixels are noise spikes, usually caused by cosmic rays striking the detector....
