What automakers have you actually invested in?

I have like, five Ferrari (RACE) shares, and I was thinking of buying 200 Ford (F) shares, but I chickened out and bought 20 shares of a genomics ETF instead. (ARKG, if you were curious.) My investment strategy is almost always long-term, and I do look forward to seeing what Ferrari does with the Purosangue. I'm also very curious about that rumored Lamborghini IPO that VWAG's supposedly considering. I'm also a bit surprised that Toyota (TM) stock has seemed a bit mediocre to me - it doesn't look like it outpaces the S&P 500 like my portfolio generally has. Then there's Aston Martin (AMGDF) which seems like a very poor buy, pun not intended. (Isn't there an irony in an automaker associated with wealth having gone into bankruptcy seven times?)

Also, fun fact: Ferrari is Italian, as we all know, but its holdings company is Dutch. That's why on the NYSE, it's listed as Ferrari N.V. and not Ferrari S.p.A., and the major owners of Ferrari N.V. includes Enzo's surviving son!

I have about 100 shares of Ferrari and it's doing very well. I think I've made the most money off that in the past couple of years. I also have a couple of hundred shares of Volvo AB, which is the truck and heavy equipment side of Volvo.

I used to own Ford, but sold it when they decided to quit making cars and just focus on trucks and SUVs, that seemed like a horrible move. I also had Tesla for a bit, but it was too up and down, I doubled my money and jumped ship on it. I could've kept it and made a tidy sum of money, but I can't argue with doubling my initial investment

I don't know if it possible to buy shares of Lucid Motors Air but if it is possible how do I do that?

For me, I've mostly looked at how much I can see an automaker growing versus their current worth:

Ford - Bronco, Mach E, Electric F150, Electric Transit, perennially successful Mustang - it seemed crazy to me that the stock was under $6/share earlier this year. Yes they have some structural issues and bloat, but the products on the horizon are good, and I think that's what matters.
Porsche - Porsche has enormous momentum right now and the most talented engineers and designers in the business.
Volvo - I have a sneaking but completely unfounded suspicion something big is coming with Volvo. I wanted to stake a position now, even if it's only on a hunch.
Lucid (Churchill) - I am so impressed with the Air that I just had to go in on this as soon as I saw the Churchill-Lucid acquisition rumors firming up.
Nikola - I'll admit this was a more un-enlightened pick, mostly because I thought it would simply ride the Tesla train up. I'm less enthusiastic about this company than the others mostly due to the mediocre looking products they have shown. But I figured I might as well wait and see what happens.

I've considered buying stock in QuantumScape who seem to be the furthest along with solid state batteries, but I'm not convinced yet. I've hedged some of my electric-vehicle heavy automotive portfolio with a fairly large position in Shell (not to mention Shell provides a lot of aviation fuel).

I've done pretty well with all of these except Nikola that tanked enormously immediately after I bought shares. (But my total investment was $20, so no big deal)

@kikie the SPAC "Churchill Capital IV" purchased Lucid last week, so if you want to buy shares of Lucid, you buy shares of CCIV. It dropped more than 50% since the deal was officially announced, but I still think it has strong long-term legs.

Been about 6 months since last post.

I have dabbled quite a bit in AMS2, but believe as an overall game it is not as complete as PC2. Also menus, user interface, car icons, car paint jobs not as nice as PC2.

Have reset PC2 up on the computer with some good settings with graphics maxed out. Feels and looks great. Will probably focus mainly on it for awhile. Finding the great car and track combos for me.

Maybe go back to AMS2 when need a break.

I also spend a fair amount of time on American Trucker, fairly relaxing to just truck on down the road with spotify on for an hour or two at a time.

Maybe some day another sim racer like project cars will come along. Except improved in lots of areas and hopefully double the tracks and double the cars with a livery editor. AC is good, just have never like the menus, user interface, etc.

This thread is about owning shares in car companies.

I'm thinking of investing in Ford, since I think their products seem real promising, but also either Rivian, Rimac, or both of those as well. At least, when those two go public...
