What did you drive today?

Photo is from a little while ago, but I finally got to drive this '57 Chevy today! Not bad for a 60 year old car, even if it's like steering a boat.

Worth mentioning, also drove the owners '84 Monte Carlo a little bit ago

Drove a 2016 Q50 Red Sport. RWD 3.0L twin turbo making 400 horsepower. One of the faster vehicles I've driven. The electric steering was rather lackluster though with little to no feedback. Didn't drive it much.

Drove a supercharged Buick Riviera today with instructions to wind it up a little bit to check for a misfire. I'm surprised with how fast it was, although the torque steer was very prominent. Noticed a lot of quality issues as well, at one point the speedometer needle sticking at 63 MPH on me..

Same color as this one

458! For sure the fastest car I've driven on track. Power was very controllable down the straights and the car hooked up very well coming out of corners. I'm used to driving an FR drivetrain car, where you can steer it with the throttle, but with this, you need to hit the brakes hard coming into a corner to transfer the weight forward in order for the front tires to have grip to turn in. If you are too early getting back on the throttle, the nose comes up and it understeers. You have to be really patient to get back on the power. Throttle responce is better than any car I've ever driven. Seating position is a little odd, but left foot braking was easy enough.

Drove a Cayman GTS in Germany a few weeks ago. I love the look of the car (interior and exterior) and the seating position, pedal placement etc. are perfect.

Obviously the engine is a highlight, but what I didn't like were the PDK (for the lack of involvement and the ridiculous push/pull arrangement for up/downshift) and the "fake" exhaust crackle in Sport Plus mode. Funnily enough, you can turn the sports exhaust on in comfort mode and it sounds fantastic, but as soon as you select Sport Plus to firm up the PASM suspension, the exhaust crackles every time you take your foot off the throttle. It sound cool... kind of... but very fabricated.

All that aside, I would buy a regular Cayman S with a manual transmission and no silly Sport Plus mode (with fake exhaust crackle) in a heartbeat!

Yesterday, drove a 1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 Town Car. Body built by Brewster Coachworks in New York. 1 of only 4 built. Drives smooth, shifts well, engine just purrs. So quiet at idle, you can barely tell it's running. My father in-law just bought it a couple weeks ago and info about it is still on the seller's site if you wanna know more about it: http://www.vaultcars.com/1934-rolls-royce

Sorry for the crappy lighting in the pictures..I didn't take any pics while it was outside, unfortunately.

Had a test drive in a 1.0 Turbo Astra and a Corsa VXR today.

Astra: Quiet, comfortable, well equipped and plenty of space, but the 1.0 Turbo lacks the peppiness of how the same engine works in my Corsa. If I'm to trade up next year, I would need a 1.4 Turbo at minimum.

Corsa VXR: First time I've had a go in a VXR from the driver's seat. This thing was all raw performance and is seriously quick. The big Recaro buckets are really supportive and are somewhat rather comfortable to sit in. Suspension felt way stiffer than my car but it wasn't rock hard uncomfortable like the old gen Nurburgring/Clubsport editions. Steering felt heavier too but not disengaging. Even at just 205hp, the torque and pick up is sensational. Even at normal road speeds it felt more composed and refined than I thought. A surprising contender for my next car.

Not today, but a few days ago. It is a 1989 Peterbilt 379 with a Caterpillar 3406B diesel engine. The engine is rated at 425hp I believe but my brother completely rebuilt it, installed bigger injectors as well as a bigger turbo and different cam so it should be pushing over 600hp to the wheels. It is mated to an Eaton Fuller 13 speed transmission.

He uses this truck to haul his pulling trucks, I don't know if I have any pictures of those or not.
