Since a thread was made about the best sounding car in GT4, i thought it would make sense to make one about the worst sounding car in GT4.

I.M.O. it's the Nissan Skyline HT 2000GT-R (KPGC110) '71. That thing makes such a horrible high-pitched grinding noise.

So what do you all think is the worst sounding car in GT4?

The Toyota triathlon Car! What could be worse than no engine sound at all?:sly:

Just kidding, I think the Jaguar XJR-9 has the worst sound of all cars, 7L V12 does not sound like a vacuum cleaner! Wheres the rumble? It does not sound like the original engine at all and it shares the same sound with other V8 engines? WTF? 4 cylinders difference but no sound difference?

PD has to work on sounds, its so bad its pathetic.

Try out the Hemi Cuda, and then you would know what a vacuum cleaner sounds like.

I think the worst sounding car is the Subaru Legacy with Racing Exhaust. :yuck:

I dunno, I think the '71 GT-R has a nice sound to it. Kind of old-school racy type. But the worst sounding car for me is the VW Beetle 1100 Standard when the AI is using it. 1st gear, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 2nd, 3rd.........
Mind-bogglingly hard to listen to. But also kinda funny.

I've been using a 69 Z-28 305ci Camaro and it sounds reealy weenie. I'm not expecting big-block rumble, but I expect it to have a little more V8 sound. It sounds more like an inline six than a V8. Too smooth.

Haven't tried one in GT4 yet but I loved the snarl of the GT40 in GT3.

the Camaro Race Car LM gets my vote! 👎 That thing should have a V8 packed under the hood, and should ROAR like a NASCAR clone. Instead it sounds as if the CRC has a straight-6...and it's been years since GM has even used a straight 6 in a Camaro, let alone any of its passenger cars. 👎

Yeah it sounds like a Mazda Miata. 👎 And the Corvette Race Car isn't much better either.

I like the sounds but it just doesn't match the car at all.

The 60's Camaro Z28 is terrible too. 👎

They have something against america other than our weight problems with our cars and people. :irked:

iv been meaning to post that all of the american muscle cars on gt4 are absolutely awful. i hope they do better on gt5. the main reason i wanted gt4 is because they had a broarder selection of muscle cars that included my favorite (69 camaro ss).

amuse carbonR... because all you hear is the squeeling of tires. Seriously it takes full throttle to reach 4k and then drop to 10-15% at 4k to prevent massive wheel spin. I rarely do this but... i turned TCS on and all the way up to 10... still a horrible sounding squeel. i hate it.

I just assumed that all LM cars are going to have that same whine to it.

imo all the engine sounds in GT4 are not very good. There are better and worse sounding engines, but the average is just not good.
I miss the howling and growling, the noise!
If you have a listen to in car sounds when whatching a race on TV, you'll notice that cars ought to sound different than they do in GT4.
Of course PD has to edit all recordings to make them acceptible for many hours of gameplay. But if you listen to NFS Most Wanted for example, you'll notice that the engine sounds are not always that realistic for the cars, but they know how to make a car growl if needed.

I second that vote for the Beetle. Worst sounding car ever in the history of the automobile (to add insult to injury, it's also loud so you can hear it a mile away, and slow so that you can hear it for hours).

Unfortunately it seems to be one of the few cars in GT4 in which the sound is reasonably accurate. Life loves doing that kind of thing to me :grumpy:

Not all of them are awful. The Buick GNX, Plymouth Superbird, and (my most recent ride) Chevy Chevelle SS sound decent. but i drove the '67 Mercury Cougar awhile back and was actually angry  it just sounds like a wimpmobile. I refuse to drive it again because of the way it doesn't sound as it should.

'49 Beetle, Model T, or the 2cv Citroen, no sound like the nike is Cool :P

OH i almost forgot that one i REALLY hate, JAY LENO TANK CAR

ok i might be beat to death for saying this but i hate the civics engines. It just sooooo winy. Please dont hurt me:nervous: :ouch:

Awww don't hate on the Beetle!

Dont hate on the Civic either! ..actually civics are a bit whiny in the game. I don't get it. Every racer-boy in my town who mods a Civic gets them to sound so mean! In the game they usually sound pingy . Weeeeeettttttttt

Exactly...PD made the civics super duper whiny...In toronto, when modded with like those huge exhausts they sound like low rumbling noises

I'm guessing taht most of the aftermarket exhaust systems we hear in real-life dont' actually add much (or any) power, all they do is make your car sound cool? And PD included the sound of systems that do add the most significant amount of power? :curious: Sorry i'm not well-read on the subject.

Honda Jazz. No question. The gearbox makes it sound like a constipated bumble bee. I actually can't stand more than one lap driving it.

Awww don't hate on the Beetle!

Sorry, can't help it! It's like the Anti-Car. Everything about it - how it looks, how it handles, how it performs and sounds, what it's like to sit in, it's all the complete opposite to what I want in a car.

Actually I did once meet (briefly) a Beetle which sounded OK and was very fast, but that was because it had a Ford V6 engine hanging out back

Then the driver put his foot down, and that's the only time a Beetle has ever impressed me.

Ugh, you know why I hate the Beetle?? Because it's like Pelé.

He played in an era where footballers regularly got sloshed the night before a game, were no where near as physically fit, the Cruyff turn hadn't even been invented!! There very few other players of noticable quality that hadn't already had their legs snapped around then, (Had Garrincha not had off the field problems, I'm sure he'd have been hailed like Pelé has been) which is why he managed to steal most of the headlines, you ask people who the best footballer is, Pelé always features when in todays world he'd struggle to out do Emile Heskey.

The Beetle is one of these cars, it gets love and respect no matter what it does, Pelé does his erection problem adverts (and before I recieve a warning, he DOES do an erection problem hotline advert here in the UK) where as the Beetle throws on that God-awful frock. (New body design) and still, no matter how hideous it is, no matter how weak and utterly horrifying it is, I only have to walk to the main road and I'll see 'em cruising by all day.

Why do people buy these cars?? :\

The Beetle (like the Model T, Benz Patent Motorwagon, Ford Mustang, Mazda RX7 etc) was a milestone in automotive history... an important car simply because it was so affordable and popular. Gran Turismo 4 (as well as GT2) is a bit of an "encyclopedia" so far as these benchmark vehicles are concerned, so i woulda been pissed if they had (again) included the New Beetle but neglected the old one like they did in earlier games.

Not only that, but the Beetle is one of the most flexible rally machines ever when modified...i only wish that in GT4 they had included a later, more powerful version (like the Super Beetle from the early 70's) instead of just giving us that one, original slug-mobile.

Have you heard of the Class 11 in the SCORE Baja 1000? It's only unmodified beetles that have to be before '80. Those guys are lucky to even FINISH 1000 miles out there!

Nike One 2022 gets my vote:grumpy: . although it's my favorite car, the thing sounds like it has an electric/hydrogen powerplant... i mean, the engine is a really gay whine, and the exhaust isn't even realistic; a warped whistling sound? WTF?!:banghead: :banghead:

Yes, I'd certainly agree that Beetles are very flexible cars. Especially the cabrios :P

They certainly are an important milestone in car manufacturing. Apart from being an affordable vehicle, I believe it's still the best selling car in history (I think Toyota's claim with the Corolla only wins on a technicality), and it even gave us Porsche. But all that record means is that the car I dislike the most was also once the most numerous on the road. Thankfully most of them now seem to have passed on / passed away / passed out, because I rarely see an original nowadays.

Back to the game version, pictured is one version of the Beetle that I quite enjoy....

this one also sounds better :D

You stuck a millets badge on the orphan powered death machine. :(

God I love trying to do a clean lap of the ring in that car... I'll never do it, but oh well..
