What does GT6 need to keep from GT5?

Just as the title says. I see a lot of negative comments on GT5 which are many times (sadly) true. But there are also some very good sides to GT5! I'd like people to sum up some features from GT5 (and perhaps older GT's) that PD needs to keep/add/re-add for GT6.

My suggestion would be to keep the cockpit view, which I really, really love, despite some having problems with the 'cockpit shake'. I for :dopey:one really like the view, especially in premiums, imho it's the best in the business right now.

Second I'd like to add responsiveness of the physics. Many people have lots to say about the physics but to me, they feel so good it's the sole reason GT5 beats everything on consoles for me despite the flaws! (I dare you to play Test Drive Unlimited 2 in comparison and say that you don't like GT5's physics, even though they're different types of games! Even arcade racers have to have good physics, wether realistic or totally not!).

So, what do you think?

Premiums, tracks, and current tunning options... the rest needs to be redone... or disappear (Leveling, B-Spec)...

I'd like to keep the updates going, DLC cars and tracks, track creator(improved of course), all cars(yes standards too, polish the hell out those turds PD), in car view, I even like the changeable horns, hell pretty much everything and more. ;-D

Keep the cars!

If we're looking at a PS4 game here, discard them all. GT5 cars aren't good enough for next-gen. If for PS3, discard the 80% that are antiquated, last-gen models.

Why? Imo they don't look THAT bad if you're talking about the "premium" cars, although the tires and the rest in some of them aren't modeled... >_>

Really? Aren't good enough for next gen? Could you, please, elaborate on that?

I thought the premiums looked awesome! Sure, they can use some more AA but I won't be complaining if they use these models for GT6!

I don't want to see any new tracks as DLC for GT5.

The tracks are useless in online rooms because most people don't buy them.

Truth.

I was lucky enough to have the money lying around to buy all the DLC Tracks, but whenever I venture into a SSRX or Motegi lobby for example, max amount of people is 5-6 normally.

If they must, DLC Cars I can bare. But DLC Tracks is a no no. But, people like me will still buy them, and PD wouldn't turn down a chance to get easy money like that. :indiff:

Premium cars, tracks, night-racing, weather, and the current online interface (which is 10x more intuitive and less-restrictive than the Forza one).

That's about it.

Also, I'd really like them to expand on the RM system again like in older GTs. That was so cool! I they'd bring that I wouldn't even need a livery editor. But that's been said to death.

I really love the seasonals. I hope they keep that in GT6, on top of a much beefier A-Spec mode. With much more tracks and a more widespread diversion of cars, I can see this becoming even cooler than it is right now!:dopey:

Keep the karts, maybe with a shifter kart added in and keep the track creator but a much improved version where you can actually choose the shape of the track.

i'm only new to GT5 (Lvl 10 A-Spec, Lvl 4 B-Spec) but i really do hope that Rally is continued and expanded upon.

Also i do like B-Spec but i wish i could tap into it via my iPad so i can use it while just generally watching TV.

GT just need to have every race in real time. Maintain the same tiers just have time change in every race. If every race can't haves weather change, time change would add more realism. GT feels very lonely( pretty much due to the AI bailing when you want to push back). Even if a pace car entered the track in a NASCAR race to bunch up the field would be cool.

Even arcade racers have to have good physics, whether realistic or totally not!.

You're absolutely right, because the first-generation of Need For Speed and even some of the other modern ones that are mainstream and not Shift always have had a semi-simulation or "sim-cade" option for driving instead of arcade-style.

Plus, as I'm also a big Nintendo gamer, with newer versions of Mario Kart, handling the go-karts, especially during drifting for boost, is so much easier now. Back in the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 days you actually had to be careful of how much you skidded around the track and how you could point your kart in the right direction as you drifted for boost. A fine example of gamers everywhere saying how older or "retro" video games in general are much more legitimately challenging than today's "modern" video games.

There is so much I could ask for in GT6, even my GT5 flaw list forum thread here in the GT6 forums isn't organized enough for each part of the game to show how chaotic pretty much the entire game is in its massive imperfection. :nervous:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Here's a speedy, generalized rant on what MUST be done in GT6.
Better AI
Better Damage (Real-time, included with driving assists decreased and difficulty increase
Better Menus
Better Music
Better Selected Selection Of Cars (No copies, unless a different generation of a car)
Better Online Set-Up
Better Quality & Quanity Of Events
No More B-Spec Or XP System
More Importance Of License Tests
Better Replay Angles & Features (Like the awesome Music Sync feature in GT3 & 4)
More Complete Modern & Historical Driver Rosters Of Racing Series
No More Ridiculous Tuning (Turbo kits on a Le Mans Prototype? WTF?)
More Tuning Options (Like older GT), No Multiple, Eventually Useless Parts (having a sports or semi-racing flywheel when you can just have them upgrade from sports to racing and not pay for extra parts) And Better-Yielding Results Of Tuning
AI Adjusting To Your Skill & License Level & Adjusting Somewhat To How Well-Tuned Your Car Is (this will make gameplay & offline competition ten times better along with better AI)
Bring Back Every Old Car & Track From Previous GT Games (Except useless, endless copies of Japanese cars)
Option For Semi-Simulation (Gran Turismo 1,2,3,4 style) Or Simulation (GTPSP, 5, hardcore PC sim style) With Driving Options
Better, More Realistic Physics In General (Laser-scan real world cars and tracks, advanced tire model, weigh and measure different parts of the car, etc., etc. for absolute realism, even with the Semi-Simulation driving style.)

I think it would be great if the photography aspect of gt5 could be in gt6, I like looking in the forums at how realistic some pictures are. Hopefully the quality can be improved and a lot more photo locations will be in the game.

Keep:
-Photomode
-All the tracks with Day/Night and Weather

Everything else needs some type editing, additions, or be completely revamped.

I agree with some of the posts prior to this:

- Photomode, in GT5 it's pretty neat how we can actually pause anytime during the race and walk around our car to get impossible angles and shooting style.

- Paint Chips, believe it or not I like the idea of paint chips, only if it weren't disposable. I think it's neat on how we can have a car's signature color and put it elsewhere (e.g. Midnight Purple on a Silivia). Plus you can trade these around amongst your friends.

- Online Mode. I really like the way the online is structured in this game. I hope they just do tweaks and not revamp it into something more complicated.

- Bodykits, I want this to return, but of course with more choices per car

- Suits/Helmets, minor but pretty neat to have. If we're going to have motorcycles, it's especially neat to sport your suits with your bike.

- Leveling system, the way it's done in GT5 is a bit weird, but I like the concept. It shouldn't restrict on what cars we can buy, and I'd be fine if it would just restrict races. If the races are restricted to certain levels, it would actually correlate to the difficulty of the A.I. and race conditions. It would give more meaning to the levels. Also, the career would have to be plenty and different so there would have to be minimal grinding just to advance to the next race.

- Remote Race, I think it's pretty cool to have our drivers compete with our friends for cash and I don't see why this shouldn't return.

- Community Features, profile, comments, trophy, races, game progress, etc. I think it would be cool if we can challenge our friends with a drift score or time that we've done in practice mode similar to NFS' autolog.

- Day/Night/Weather is a must. I think it's one of the few games where we can set it to a certain time and set its progression rate. It's very limited in GT5, and it would be awesome to have for every track.

- Dealership Presentation, the way it's done is pretty sleek in GT5 with its camera angles and different lighting conditions. The ability to demo is cool too, but I wonder if test driving would be a good idea or a spoiler. I would love to see the return of specific manufacture tunes though.

- PP rewards, getting more cash and experience for using underperforming cars. Self explanatory and I really want this to return.

- Daily Perks for logging in.. why not?

Manufacturer colours are nice but there is no need for having them as chips. Instead there should be a paint booth with a colour wheel like any other game, then also a 'Manufacturer' or 'Special' paints with all of the preset colours with names. Whatever they do they have to all be available from the start with no collecting them or even worse, one use.

Yes, GT6 needs a paint shop.
Or better make the whole GT Auto to a tuning and workshop where you can get a massive amount of optical and power tuning parts. Maybe even new engines with more cylinders or so.

The realism of the tuning, I dont want what Forzas done, a Small car with a ridiculous engine and power, stupid.

sorry, but that's realistic....it's possible in real life with enough money ;).
there was a project where a few guys build a Lupo with 12 cylinders. 2x6 cylinders, one in the front and one in the back.
Almost everything is possible with enough money

I'm fine with collecting presets if all it takes is to buy the car with the paint. Similar to how we buy and keep the wheels in GT3 for use with every car, I guess I just like collecting. Whatever the case, pre-set colors have to exist. Color Wheels are nice, but even with it, you'd have to do some estimation and it won't be exact, especially if you're trying to do two tones of TVR's cars. I think getting certain manufacture colors may sometimes involve more options than just simply changing the shades of the rainbow spectrum, so for sure I'd like pre-sets to return if we're going to have color wheels. If not, I guess most people would be satisfied as long as it looks "close" enough.

I will agree that one time use is pain though.

That isn't how the real world works though, having to buy a car to get the paint colour is silly. All you need these days is a sample or know the values of your colour and a spray shop will do it. I don't see the point of making something so basic as painting your car such a chore in a videogame. Unfortunately that seems to be a theme with GT though.

I get what you mean. Like I said, it's just the collector in me. That "chore" you're talking about is actually what I enjoy, and in my opinion, what makes a game a bit more like a "game." Unlocking items is one of the things I enjoy in video games. I'm not sure if I'm just being childish, or the childhood in me still sticks from when I first played video games.
