What does GT6 need to keep from GT5?

I like unlocking things but only if it actually gives me a feeling of accomplishment and what i'm unlocking is something worth waiting for. Buying cars to unlock paints takes no skill, there is no accomplishment and that's why I see it as a chore that just wastes my time. I'd much rather quickly paint my car however I like, go racing and unlock/win a car. That would feel like an accomplishment if the car awarded for my racing was worth waiting for. Thats why personally I liked the older games which had exclusive AND desirable prize cars.

Well, some paints can be valuable, no? Of course, paint chips from cheap common cars take no skill, but I'm talking about paint chips that are exclusive and harder to obtain like the chrome paints. Some colors can only be exclusive on cars that's hard to obtain. For example, in previous GTs, we'd get prize cars with special and different colors. It's not a paint that can be just bought off at a dealership. Imagine owning a color that's exclusive to a 20 million dollar car like the X2010. Not just anyone can buy off every single color, but it can be trade-able. The name of the paint chip can imply its worth and rarity.

Other than that, I think the paint wheel should satisfy most people anyway. I want my presets as well though.

But why? Isn't GT meant to be a real world simulator, to a degree? In the real world paint is paint, If i want a gold chrome car the only thing stopping me is money. If I want the exact colour from a super rare car not found anywhere else I just need the Hex/RGB value or whatever. On the other hand certain cars really are rare and can't be bought at any time even if you have money. Yet in GT world any car can be bought including one offs at any time.

Seems the wrong way around to me.

Hopefully they keep all the licenses form GT5. I want to see the new Gen 6 NASCAR stock cars in GT6. WRC and Super GT as well. I want all the new licensed tracks from GT5 to return as well.

Formula GT. This time around make this car premium. And perhaps add an extra model or two thats a little bit slower. I hate how every openwheel car in Gran Turismo has 800 or so horsepower.

Customizeable music for the menus was a great feature. I hope it comes back.

I hope the special events come back, like Tour of Italy. Those were intersting and fun.

The limited point to point randomly generated rally racing needs to return and be vastly expanded

They really need to keep B-Spec. I know it wasnt handled well in GT5 but it needs to return to the series. Just make it more like how it was in GT4 with some modifications. I liked how Bspec drivers could level up but make mental and stamina actually mean something this time around.

pp needs to come back. But it needs to be tweaked. I would like to see a car class system on top of the pp system to help get more equal cars in races. For road cars there needs to be a S, A, B, and C class. S cars are basically super cars and C class cars are slow economy cars. Of course theres the option to turn this off if you want to try and race a highly tuned Civic against a Ferrari

For race cars they should be divided by their racing series. There needs to be a selection for NASCAR only, DTM only, Super GT only, F1 only, Le Mans Prototype only, Le Mans GT only, etc. Theres also loads of good ideas on this forum on how they should classify racing mod cars.

sorry, but that's realistic....it's possible in real life with enough money ;).
there was a project where a few guys build a Lupo with 12 cylinders. 2x6 cylinders, one in the front and one in the back.
Almost everything is possible with enough money

Thats the point, I dont want to be in a cruise lobby with people who drive ridiculous type of cars..

Then, if the option is included, don't be. If PD were to include engine swaps (which I hope they do), a simple check-box for "No Engine/Drivetrain Swaps" in lobbies would suffice for those who'd rather not take advantage of it.

Photomode only needs a few of GT4's features, like letting us alter the white balance within the game, and utilizing the actual replay angles exactly when we first go into the mode. There's not enough far off or overly-high locations available in GT5; give us more locations from outside of the track itself! Other than that, the only addition to the mode I can think of is allowing us to enter it from the pause menu during a race, instead of having to access replays for it. Perhaps allowing multiple cars in the Travel locations?

GT5's Premium models and the newer track models are essential for GT6. I'm sure we'll get some recycled ones like the GT-Three (Grand Valley, Trial Mountain, and Deep Forest), but they need some graphical updates. The paint chip model needs to be dropped, the licenses either need to be dropped or re-established as actually useful in the flow of the single player offline (I'd prefer the latter). Speaking of which, the single player mode needs a complete revamp; the XP model is silly and encourages grinding races repeatedly.

No more crappy AI, event structure like GT3, no B-Spec or XP leveling, organized leagues of online racing, races or seasonal events that aren't "chase the rabbit" races, all the original tracks and cars from every GT game before hand except useless, endless copies of Japanese cars, really good music all-around like GT1/2/3 and maybe 4, competition with well-tuned cars, better tuning, no paint chips and be able to buy any paint item for a car, including factory colors, choose what color you want on your prize car (since there aren't multiple prize cars per event anymore, thank God) and better dealerships (no ridiculous layout or music).

That isn't how the real world works though, having to buy a car to get the paint colour is silly. All you need these days is a sample or know the values of your colour and a spray shop will do it. I don't see the point of making something so basic as painting your car such a chore in a videogame. Unfortunately that seems to be a theme with GT though.

Absolutely. What adds to the stupidity is that you can't properly preview a paint colour on the body/wheels before you use the expendable chips. Idiotic.

GT6 needs to keep TH500 RS support! I'd be gutted if it didn't...

Oh, and hopefully Logitech GT, G25 and G27 support, too.

They would piss a lot of people off if they didn't, I'd imagine. I know I won't be getting GT6 if I can't use my Fanatec with it.

I would like if GT6 kept GTTV. But actually updated it with promised content.

Like Top Gear. Or motorshows.

If you want realistic that is the correct way to preview a paint sample.

Not really, most high end spray shops will be able to show you a digital preview of your car and this is a game we're talking about, we can take liberties.

If you want realistic you also buy paint colours at will instead of receiving single paint colours from cars you own. GT5 has given us the worst of both worlds as far as paint acquisition and paint preview goes.

this is a game we're talking about, we can take liberties.

Yes, exactly. I don't think any large group of people is going to complain about a menu that is easy to navigate, or one that allows you to preview changes in appearance before purchasing those virtual products.

I mean you can't completely tune up a car performing all of the parts upgrades in 5 minutes in real life but you can in GT, because it's a game.

Just as the title says. I see a lot of negative comments on GT5 which are many times (sadly) true. But there are also some very good sides to GT5! I'd like people to sum up some features from GT5 (and perhaps older GT's) that PD needs to keep/add/re-add for GT6.

My suggestion would be to keep the cockpit view, which I really, really love, despite some having problems with the 'cockpit shake'. I for :dopey:one really like the view, especially in premiums, imho it's the best in the business right now.

Second I'd like to add responsiveness of the physics. Many people have lots to say about the physics but to me, they feel so good it's the sole reason GT5 beats everything on consoles for me despite the flaws! (I dare you to play Test Drive Unlimited 2 in comparison and say that you don't like GT5's physics, even though they're different types of games! Even arcade racers have to have good physics, wether realistic or totally not!).

So, what do you think?

Haha, I read the OP title as "What does GT6 need to keep, from GT5" as in, 'keep for itself', to which my answer would be simply tracks, they should save newer tracks for GT6, everything else, plug it into GT5 right now.

What should be kept that exists in GT5 now, when it comes to GT6... so hard to look at it that way, everything but, is the only way I can see it, but probably because I view GT5 quite positively, despite complaining alot about it.

So don't keep, the pathetic AI, standard cars, a stupid used car dealership that sells every car in the world, but only 30 at a time, for a limited time (what a ****ed up idea that is), the seperate tuning page, which now only serves to add engine/weight mods, which is complete ********, remove the thing from the page and just do it all within the car settings, you went 85% of the way, finish the job PD! Uhh, B-Spec, completely forget about B-Spec please, don't keep the limited story mode of A-Spec, or the tiny amounts of cash it gives you, which becomes pointless once you have seasonals anyway... photo mode, who cares? If its no effort then fine, but if you have to spend more than a couple of people for more than a day, please cut it, its next to useless. DLC potential, with only a few drops of DLC, please PD, if you're going to have the option next time, release more than half a dozen 'good' cars. Let us mod every car, in every way, yes I want to supercharge my 458, yes, I want to have performance parts on EVERY car. Oh another thing, spend maybe a little time on the people and scenary, if it were two or three times as good (really still not that great) we wouldn't complain about it.

Otherwise... look keep it all. Despite my negativity on those parts, that's about it imo (from the very top of my head, I may've missed a few bits and pieces). I love the premium cars, when PD puts them in and choses the right ones, and doesn't repeat themselves (See Standard cars), I don't use the online function much, but if the physics were 1:1 the same, I think it'd be 8/10 (needs a bit more stability), the physics are nearly perfect, I have a little bit of car experience, driving on roads for 7 odd years, multiple drive trains (FF, FR, RR, 4WD), it does them all perfectly. Tracks are great, again, when they exist, where's Phillip Island and Bathurst? You know, its the best Car simulator out there, especially when you think they cram all of this, into a piece of **** PS3 from what feels like the 90s, they've done an extraordinary job, for the most part. Yeah, keep most of it.

Car history/descriptions.

Essential part of the GT experience for me.

(Hey look I answered the original question correctly, instead of coming up with a new feature to implemented.)

Totally agree with this one! It's for me something that seperates GT from it's competition. I don't want to start an argument again (it's actually stupid that I should be afraid to bring this up on this forum) but that's what I sorely miss in Forza; connection to the cars, emotion. It's good and fun and all, but I miss the love.

I agree with the rally races, keep 'em, expand 'em. A LOT! I actually loved the rally in GT2 and miss it deeply:(

Keep standards, menu interface, B-Spec, inanimate trackside objects that should be animate, obsessive smoke, obsessive dirt, and the absence of gravity during rollover crashes (away) from GT6.

Keep premiums, photomode, and tracks from GT5. Nothing more.
