Its kind of redundant now with Eiger....

Though I do like it I can see why they wouldn't put it in now.

I dont see too much in common between them. I dont think it deserved to get hacked, I can think of allot more tracks that deserve it.

BTW what happened to Seattle Mini? that was the ultimate track for lightweight cars.

It was an ok track, I prefer Eiger, and in fact, it is one of my favourite tracks in GT5p. One thing I especially didn't like in Grindlewald was the protuding and huge curbs. Clobbering them wasn't too much fun.

I totally forget about that track, but I liked it.

Btw, was Tahiti Road in GT4? Or Clubman Route 5 or 11?
I'm pretty sure they weren't...

Edit: And smokey mountain :)

It will probably make it back in some 'classic track pack' via DLC if it isnt in the game already.

Personally, meh, it wasnt anything fantastic.

Grindelwald was fab. A little lightweight car like the '63(?) Elan was a giant killer around there. It flowed really well as a circuit but you really needed to be accurate and avoid those aforementioned curbs. I'd love to see it back in GT5, it's a totally different circuit to Eiger.

-> I also do miss Grindelwald, I used to get "argh" on it when I was in High School. Now after I played it again in GT2 months ago, I said "woah"!

-> Eiger is good for low to mid powered cars, while Grindelwald is for mid to high powered cars (due to its wider course layout). Grindie is like a ElCap, NurbRing, and Eiger mashed together making a fun track to flog around, a good alternative to Autumn Ring.

[JOKING] What happened to Grindelwald? Dumbledore defeated him, he went to prison and Voldemort killed him there, after many years[/JOKING]

:D

They are based around the same piece of countryside, the theme is a little too similar and I doubt they'd see the point in bringing it back. Even though it is a good layout in principle.

If they brought it back they would have to change it a lot, make the barriers less protruding (as mentioned before), widen parts of the circuit and maybe introduce some steeper gradient changes and camber.
The whole atmosphere of the track would need a revamp so its more lively. I think in the end it would be just like a faster more flowing version of Eiger and this is why I don't see them bringing it back.

I'd much prefer Red Rock Valley or SS 11 back.

Haha nice one! :D

I actually thought of saying something like that, but I thought people were way above that level here...

:P

Should this not be in the GT3 section? lol

If I recall correctly, it was in GT2, so if it will be moved (which it probably won't) it would go there :P

But I do agree with the original post, I miss it and remember driving the GT40 there just to try and drift all the tight turns, good fun!

I can't say I remember this track, though I do remember Tahiti Road and Red Rock Valley. I'd love to see those back.

I agree. It was a nice track, but like you said, I'd rather see Red Rock make a comeback. 👍

Rome circuit was one of my favourites! Dissapeared in GT4 though :(

We seriously need it back.
Imagine this:
Rome
Rome Short
Rome Night

George V Paris
Opera Paris

London Short
London Long

Madrid
?

Tokyo

Seoul

New York

Now we would just need a Bonn (:D) or Berlin track.

EDIT: Sorry btw. for that "wish" post, dont want to derail the thread, but this just came in my mind.

Hated that track playing GT2 as a kid but maybe it was because I couldn't wall-ride my 1000hp Escudo around it :dopey: . Sure would be great to see it and others like Red Rock, Motor Sports Land, and Pikes Peak on a next-gen Gran Turismo. Also what ever happened to Special Stage Route 11 and Complex String? Those two were always my favorites in GT3.

Grindelwald is a small town direct at the Eiger.
I miss it though, the track layout is completely different anyway.

Oooh, I knew the environment looked similar, but I didn't know they were in fact based on the same location. Learn something new every day.

Maybe the Eiger WAS meant to be a replacement for Grindelwald..........................................NAH! I still prefer the Grindelwald.

I loved Grindelwald... it had a lovely flow to it, IIRC, best in reverse.

I can't remember GT2 looking as bad as that vid and I played it to death! haha  ... GT has definitely came on in leaps and bounds and tbh we are all that spoiled playing it we don't really notice the improvements after the first few weeks ;) Nice work on that part PD

Btw I liked Grindewald also and had many a good OLR battle there with some of the older(ish) members ;) Would like to see it in the mix also as well as Pikes Peak and Red Rock Valley 👍

In real life, its around 7 Kilometers away from the Kleine Scheidegg trainstation on the Eiger Nordwand track (the track doesnt exsist in real life, but the trainstation does).

It was definately in my top five as far as tracks go. I absolutely loved the flat out chicane and also the downhill-brute-cornering end.

I think every track from previous GT's should be in, speacially this one, Rome Night and the SSR11 with the GT1 layout.

Same here. I mean, I don't want Eiger dumped or anything. Variety is the spice of life. It's not derailing to say we want these tracks included in GT5. In fact, I want all the tracks from all previous versions of Gran Turismo in GT5. I think Grindelwald is superior, myself.

Edit: wow, take a phone call in mid-post, and fasj says the same thing... 👍
