What is everyones opinion on the best car? If we get a majority saying one car then thats an obvious winner. My vote (well one of them) is the 09' Nissan GT R

Best car? For what?

There is no such thing as an overall best car.

depends i think, i prefer some cars for some tracks and other cars for other tracks for example my 458 717bhp struggles to get round tskuba spinning its wheels on the small hairpins losing time i like the evo RM for tskuba but i love the 458 on monza and nurburgring, but this is cause i race with all driving aids off, with the driving aids on i dont think it makes much differance.

So far the ZR1. I'm only a 19 though and with the z06 and zr1 fully modded, I'm beating the other cars by 20+ seconds each race. Now that champion ship with the race cars, I'm having a hard time hanging with them.

I'm trying to decide now if I should get the Mclarren or the Enzo, or if I should get a Ford GT or a 458 Italia and mod them.

there is no "best car" in GT5.
if you're thinking about the fastest car around a normal race track, it would be the X1.

GT-R in R34 form is the best, i especially like the 2 Nur version but i wish they could over 1000hp like the old gran turismos

edit it is the best because it was the car i used in all the gran turismos, its 4WD which is always awesome and its fast, you can also tune it to handle how you like

Might be better to break this down by race vs. street car and maybe by horsepower or configuration as well, so you have something like this:

Street cars:
Best front-wheel drive car
Best rear-wheel drive car
Best all-wheel drive car
Best mid-engined car
Best car under 400HP
Best car over 400HP
Best car under 100k credits
Best car over 100k credits
Best street car overall

Then do something similar for race cars.

But if you're talking just street cars, all things considered, the GT-R (R35) still seems like the best all around street car. But this is really, really subjective. :sly:

Not counting any cars over 500k and doing a bang for buck and an expensive version I would say the following

FR
Cheap: Buick 62 or the 250hp Lotus 7 replica by Chaterham
Expensive: probably not going to beat the buick

FF
Cheap: The race car old honda hatch I think its an 87 and its FREE
Expensive: havn't found a need for anything faster than the above mentioned.

MR
Cheap: The free bernelli or whatever plus it gets you into a certain race its a good car you get early on
Expensive: Ferrari Italia light mods will destroy the enzo
Also you have to purchase an elise soo I guess you could count that as a good cheap MR car since you have to own one anyways.

AWD
Cheap: FREE Veyron and the Tommy Kiarra is $60,000 has one of the highest street car hp to weight ratios and in real life the drivetrain is a backwards R34 if I am not mistaking.
Expesnive: Lambo Merc SV however DO NOT make the mistake of purchasing this car before purchasing the Gallardo as you NEED the Gallardo for a race I made this mistake :(

I honestly have to think that the Lambo SV is going to destroy the Nissan GTR I could be wrong but I am thinking I am right. Good chance the Gallardo modded vs the GTR modded the Gallardo is still going to win so as an ultimate AWD car excluding the Veyron I don't really see the GTR as one.

I would say since you MUST own the following cars that you should use them as your ultimate cars
Gallardo
any ferrari preferabley the 07 scud or the 09 italia

Best car? I don't know.

I will say that 4WD cars have a giant advantage most of the time, for me. Using rear wheel drive just seems like a handicap, comparatively, even though most of my favorite cars are FR.

I'd like to hear from someone with real experience to explain what advantages there are, if any, to a rear wheel driven car.

All of that totally depends on the person's preference. But a nicely setup FR car can have very good amount of grip with better steering response than the AWD counterpart.

Honestly for tracks like the Nurburgring where the tendency of the 1 of the wheels to get onto the grass is high, AWD is pretty much the better option since you won't risk spinning your car as much. but with a good setup, FR can be just as stable also in the situation.

Overall best car has to be the Dodge Viper ACR, not because its the second fastest road car compared to the viper, but that it handles like a dream around the track

Any car that for some reason I found a great tune and I can drive it at the limit of the cars limits and understand and live with its weak points. Sound is to me important. When you hear and feel the car being pushed to the limit, and I can race it hard, then I love that car.

So far I haven't tried too many cars. I bought and tried to get the Viper to work (not the ACR), but I couldn't crack the tune and didn't like it. On the other hand, I've been able to achieve a reasonable good tune for the 458 Italia, and I really like to race with that car.

Without looking at horsepower, just handling, feeling and pure joy - you won't find any better chassis than Skyline R32 GTS-t when it comes to FR, period. Tune it and it's an amazing all-purpose car that looks great and is fun to drive. Can't go wrong with that, just try it yourself.

AWD? Love Evo III, but if you want the best, it's Skyline family again. Either tuned R33/R34 or GT-R, I would go for R34 though as it feels better to me, less understeer.

FWD? Hate those and can't drive them at all so don't ask me, went for Integra Type-R and I'm quite happy with that, however, it could be a better idea to buy EK9.

And nope, I'm not another Skyline fanboy, in fact - I don't even like them, well maybe except for GTS-t. Those cars are just the best, can't do anything about that.

Pure joy of driving and amazing feeling? Try RX-7, both FC3S and FD3S. Those are my all-time favourites.

Both generations of Mazda Atenza are frighteningly quick when tuned correctly even on S3 tires. From what I've seen, the EK9 isn't as fast as it should be given the weight and power (GT4's EKs were the same way to a greater extent).

The early model FDs are a ball... But they're slow. The late models are much less murderous but still very entertaining.

As for AWD... I tend to try and stay away (I'd kill for a 2WD Gallardo) unless it's one of the properly good AWD systems, such as that used on the R32-34 GT-Rs.

GTR? A 2-seat "supercar" that weighs more than my portly 4-seat grand tourer, makes a meager amount of power, and only performs well due to sticky tires that last 5000 miles and a launch control system that causes transmission failure. I think not.

I'd take just about any real supercar over a GTR. Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Gallardo/Murcielago, even a Corvette Z06 (to say nothing of a ZR-1), even though it's considered "low class" among supercars.

BMW balance is impossible to beat, but then again so is Ferrari grip (Ford GT is a contender). They are unsurpassed in my opinion.

I've got a tuned R33 GT-R and it's FANTASTIC. I love it.

Handles like a dream, monster acceleration. If only we could install aftermarket steering wheels in the game. The current one is really ugly.

For me, the most fun car in the game is the 66 cobra, stock, using my G27 with FFB on max. Its a serious handful, but learn to drive it well and its so much fun. Spent about 2 hours today just doing practice laps of trial mountain in it.

I got a 1962 Buick Special for winning some classic car championship (I think it was the muscle car one). I put some hard racing tires on it and bought some engine upgrades, and now it's my favorite car in the game, mainly 'cause I love watching the old thing pass modern supercars.

the Minolta 88C-V just kicks ass, u can drive so many kinds of tracks with him and ur just gone. U win this car in extreme series, event: like the wind and that describes it good. This car is like the wind, just give him additional turbo and some race wheels and u might take off ^^ 👍

Divided categorically, there are many cars worth mention.

Lightweight/Starter Car - Mazda MX-5
Cheap AWD - Evo's and STi's are an obvious choice
High-end AWD - A monster-modded R32-R34 GTR, or the Audi R8 5.2 FSI V10
"Bargain" Supercar - Viper ACR (100k car that hangs with the 300+k heavyweights? Sure!)
FWD - DC2/5 Integra, Mazda Atenza family
Mid-range FR - FD3S RX-7... superbly balanced car
High-End MR - Ferrari 458, absolute joy to drive

Really, I could just keep expanding and adding to this list, because there are just so many good cars out there worth driving/racing. Just picking one is impossible for me.

I'm not that far into the game, but I love my Gallardo for AWD, and my NSX for MR. The NSX tops out in the low 400s, but its cornering makes it great for online races with 500hp caps. The Gallardo is an absolute beast that can contend with any supercar in the game once you tune it.
My next buy is the viper, so I have all 3 drivetrains covered. Anyone have any tips on which model is the best buy?

I find these to be great drives.

MR - Ferrari 458 Italia
4WD - Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4
FR - Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 RM
