What is the total price of the cars in Gran Turismo Sport?

Hello there.

If you're coming across this topic because you're either bored in the quarantine and want to help me, or you're actually interested, then I must say up front, "thank you for your time". Because time, today, is as valuable as ever.

And time, is something that while I do value, that value gets swept under the rug whenever I have a lot of free days coming up. Case and point, this quarantine, but more so, the next week. Starting Saturday of next week, us Argentineans have winter break; 2 full blown weeks of absolutely nothing. And I thought this would be the perfect time to lose my sanity and my sense of time once again.

This is a challenge that I always propose myself, to obtain every possible car, in every possible color, without repeats. Yes. I may be a bit insane, but hear me out. I've done this in two games so far; Gran Turismo 3, and Gran Turismo 6, and they were surprisingly manageable. While GT3 had the stupid... idiotic... unforgetfully dumb prize car roulette (which those prize cars usually had unique colors, therefore I needed them), GT6 was much more calm and relaxed. VGTs were free after completing a time trial, only leaving the alternate colors to be obtained; seasonals paid so much money that I could shower myself in Skylines for years to come.

And here is Sport. All three games have something in common: the fact that there is no used car dealership. Which simplifies things. Tenfold. In fact, a year later, I'm STILL attempting to complete this self-imposed completionist challenge in Gran Turismo 5!

...anyway. I need to ask you all a favor. With this growing game that is Sport, what would be the total ammount of credits needed to spend in order to buy every car, in every colour? I'm only counting the dealership cars in my challenge since first of all, I don't have the Lewis Hamilton DLC (which locks away the AMG VGT LH Edition, thanks PD! NOT!) and I'm not taking the Gr.4 Supra into consideration because in my wisdom of living under a rock, I missed whatever the heck the event was about and can't get it now as far as I know.

I will then divide the total ammount of credits calculated by 220.000, which is the worst case scenario for a race prize (Gr.1 Cup at Monza, without the Clean Race bonus) and by 375.000, which is the best case scenario (Premium Sports Lounge at Blue Moon Bay with the KTM, Clean Race bonus. But 🤬 me if I'm gonna spend two weeks of my life on a damn oval).

Once more, thanks for your time, you certainly value it more than I do my own .

Having the Hamilton DLC would certainly help me with this, I've no doubt that I can diamond all the challenges, but sadly it's locked away for me. But still, this challenge may not be so bad in Sport, aside from the unicorns and the cars that are ridiculously expensive AND have a bunch of colors (the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is one of them, 2 million per car and it has like more than 10 colors from what I've seen ).

Well, it's not about it being practical or not, it's about just being a completionist. Not only that, but every game has it's useless weapons, it's useless abilities, it's useless cars, and it's useless achievements.

While going slightly off topic to explain my point; a lot of people in Call of Duty games (like Black Ops 2) would use silly, unconventional and downright impractical arsenals like ballistic knives and shields to complete challenges. Those challenges would, with a lot of dedication and hard work, give them a gold and a diamond camouflage or, skin, for their weapons. The camos were pretty much, useless. No real advantage by running them over any other, or no, camos. But people still get aim to get those, even today, just for the fun of it, and to say "hey, look what I've got!". That mentality leads to other people saying "hey, I want to get that too!", and working towards it themselves. Like a snowball.

Going back and applying the same mentality to GT Sport, why do people buy the unicorns? The 20 million credit cars, and by extent, the 10 million and up cars, are downright useless pretty much everywhere. Not only can you not race your precious Jaguar XJ13 competitively other than against like, 2 or 3 other cars, but PD doesn't have official Sport races or time trials that feature these cars. Then, if they're useless for almost anything in the game, what are they for?

...bragging rights. Like those Black Ops 2 diamond skins for your weapons. And for me, more than that, it's just about getting to what I determine to be my own 100% game completion. We all know the "campaign" (and by extent the GT League) are kinda phoned in, and not truly a Gran Turismo campaign mode. Or at least a pretty cookie cutter one.

I find that negative can be turned into somewhat of a positive. Because, without a clear goal in mind, you can make your own. What is your idea of a 100% game completion in GT Sport? Getting to an S-S ranking online? That's a high goal, but not impossible. Getting the platinum, which would encompass taking all the trophies, which include ones like 91 wins in Sport mode, 355 races completed in Sport mode, and some number of fastest laps trophy in Sport mode that I don't remember the required number of? That's a pretty cool, maybe more tangible goal, because other players can directly see your platinum trophy.

Maybe your goal is to get all the cars in every color, like me? Or maybe just the unicorn cars, for bragging rights? There's a level of satisfaction when you say "I have every car in this game", but for me, I want to be able to say "I have every car, in every color, in this game". People will look at me like I'm insane, but hey, I have accomplished what I consider, a goal.

And I am enjoying doing it so far. Grinding isn't that bad. Sure, it's repetitive if you do it 10 hours straight, but just... don't do it. Take breaks, maybe listen to movie reviews, F1 stuff or gaming documentaries on YouTube so that time feels like it flies. In a few minutes, you have a million credits to splash onto some cars and then you can call it a day for the grinding, head onto Sport to enjoy some competitive racing, or lobbies to do the same with your friends, maybe a drift lobby, maybe a cruise lobby so you can show off your latest car acquisitions.

As long as it's enjoyable and I feel I'm making some progress, I'll do it. Same reason why I still play flash games on Kongregate and grind those badges. Flash games are great fun and a good, interesting distraction from the normal formulas that are AAA games nowadays. But I feel I got my point across already .

928.5M credits is around 9x what I have earned in total. A serious chunk of that comes from the gold laps on the LH DLC.

I commend your masochistic intentions, but I don't see you pulling this off, especially without the DLC, as that 20m credit cap is going to make it a ballache.

If you are going to do this, I'd recommend grabbing that DLC as if you do have the pace even for gold that's going to be a huge boost. If you can get all diamond, you'll get a payout roughly 1/9th of the total you need.

To switch it up, you should know you can earn decent credits in custom race with certain combos, if you are able to race a road car against race cars. I like to do 25 minutes or so against gr.4 in a car like the Maserati Gran Turismo S. It'll be technically slower than just smashing pro league, but the racing is much better and you can race on the tracks of your choice.

You mentioned this race is not for you but anyway, you would have to do about 3.000 races there.
Since one race takes about 12 minutes, you would have to grind for 31 days / 18 hours a day nonstop before you see the horizon.
If you race Monza ... well that's about 45 days then.
That's not too bad after all ( less than I thought initially ) so GL to you !

No, seriously. GT Sport and NFS Rivals were the last new games I've bought, nothing more since then. Stuff is expensive in my country and paired with inflation, it's just not worth it.

You are not alone. I have been playing GT Sport since launch, and have every car available to buy. I have not bothered to buy LH Challenge. What i do now is race every Campaign race, starting with cars that have no mileage, Im hoping to achieve mileage with every car in my garage, The cars that i acquire with my daily workout, i keep them all and only change colour if already have that colour. By racing in the Campaign races, I find it more rewarding then just grinding certain high value races, ie BMB which can get rather tedious.
Every week with the credits i have gained, I go on a spending spree, I would like to own every colour available for each car, With some mileage for each car, Whether i achieve this before GT7 is released, I don’t know.

You can also use the RX500, which is an N400 car. The racing tires add a huge benefit to the handling characteristics, in which the usual top 3 NPCs in the Premium Sports Lounge (Veyron, LaFerrari, One-77, etc...) suck at
Finishing first with a clean race grants 345k, including the handicap bonus. You can detune the car to N300 class to fish in another 30k per race. It also takes around 12 minutes for you to complete a race.
